Summary
Mass participation activity is an important area of growth for Diabetes UK's Engagement and Fundraising Directorate. We have seen some great successes in our Diabetes UK bespoke challenges both in terms of acquisition and fundraised income, growing from c.3000 event participants to more than 40,000 in the last three years.
As the market gets more competitive, and virtual events become more enhanced, Diabetes UK are looking to sustain their growth. The Senior Events Manager for Mass Participation will play a pivotal role in driving growth in an increasingly saturated market. The role will be responsible for overseeing a five-year growth strategy to deliver a multi-million-pound portfolio of mass participation fundraising activities, such as our flagship campaigns, One Million Step Challenge and Swim22.

About you
As our Special Events Manager, you will support a range of high value, high profile fundraising events and high-value stewardship and cultivation across Partnerships and Philanthropy.
You enjoy combining creativity and innovation with more practical responsibilities such as logistics and operations when delivering events. You're highly organised and able to work across a range of priorities and projects. You ideally will already have some fundraising events experience, although not essential. You have strong communication skills enabling you to adapt your style according to your audience; experience of working with high-net-worth individuals or celebrities would be an advantage.
In this role you will expertly deliver critical elements of large-scale and high-profile events including event concept execution, content design, production, guests and committee management. We will also count on you to identify engagement and stewardship opportunities for key high-profile relationships and develop new event concepts that support income growth.
In this role, you may:
- Lead or support on the delivery of a range of high-profile events within the portfolio and/or high-value stewardship and cultivation across Partnerships & Philanthropy
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with event committee members, stakeholders and high net worth individuals to maximise income and secure continued committed support.
- Manage relationships with external suppliers and agencies to develop relationships and negotiate costs to support a strong ROI on events.
- Provide support for the delivery of the entire total portfolio of events by attending and performing tasks on the day of events delivered by other team members.

BACKGROUND
The BIR is an international membership organisation, a multidisciplinary society and a registered charity. We are for everyone working in imaging, radiation oncology and the underlying sciences.
With a new five-year strategy in place, the Education team play a key role in one of our areas of greatest growth potential; helping to ensure the BIR remains financially sustainable in a changing environment, offering education to more people, and helping grow our membership.
We aim to deliver world class education, training and CPD in a wide range of new and exciting formats, in response to current and future market needs. In 2022/3 the Education team ran 39 events over the year, including 12 virtual events, 11 face-to-face events – including two that were hybrid, and 16 webinars.
JOB SUMMARY
This post is central to the activities of the BIR. The role-holder will ensure effective planning, marketing and delivery of the BIR’s educational events, which includes a combination of both in-person and virtual events. The role is hands-on and often involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
You must be able to complete a wide range of activities requiring clear communication, excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. You must be able to work well under pressure, ensuring smooth and efficient delivery of an event. Some UK travel and out of hours working is involved.
MEETINGS PROGRAMME/TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
• To plan, coordinate and manage the educational events programme (currently approximately 39 events per year).
• To plan, develop and market the annual events calendar in a timely manner.
• To liaise as required with the Education Committee, Special Interest Groups and Regional Branches ensuring that educational events are proposed and organised within the annual events calendar (involved from inception to delivery).
• To attend and brief all BIR Special Interest Groups and Regional Branches on performance of meetings and events. This includes post-event evaluations (including data entry and analysis and producing reports for event stakeholders and Education Committee).
• Lead the delivery of our key annual events, including managing logistics, administration and engaging with speakers, delegates and sponsors at the event.
• To assist in delivering the education programme in a wide range of new and exciting formats.
• To undertake market research to identify opportunities for events.
• To work closely with ‘event leads’ to ascertain their precise event requirements. Also, responsible for bringing any deviation or potential risk to the programme to the attention of the Director of Educational Development in a timely manner.
• To source and develop relationships with sponsors, event exhibitors and corporate members
• To ensure that all tasks required to produce successful events are allocated to the appropriate staff member and to support staff in performing those tasks. To monitor income against budget and ensure that the BIR income is maximised through delivering excellent programmes and through creative use of facilities.
• To act as an ambassador for the BIR and foster strong relationships with stakeholders including sister organisations and industry contacts
• To prepare the annual budget forecasts for the coming year and monitor and report against performance during the year.
• To scope, secure and book suitable venues or locations for events.
• To ensure health and safety, insurance and legal obligations are adhered to.
• To co-ordinate venue management, caterers, exhibitors, contractors and equipment hire.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Virtual Events Team, helping exceptional supporter experiences through acquisition campaigns and stewardship journeys of the virtual events programme.
As the Virtual Events Manager (Supporter Care) you will play a crucial role in supporting the team to deliver stewardship journeys across various communication channels, including email, SMS, Facebook groups and others. We’re looking for an engaging, organised, and experienced event manager who is ready to develop their skills by cultivating a broad package of events for people in Wandsworth, organising and engaging across our projects with occasional outreach and online network management.

Funded by a Development Grant of £600k+ and an expected Delivery Grant of £3m by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), St Anne’s Limehouse has embarked on a fundraising Campaign to repair and conserve its heritage asset, make the building accessible to all, and transform it into a community and partnership hub to engage its diverse local communities and partners.
The role of the Events & Digital Fundraising Manager is to manage a few high profile events and launch the campaign via a range of marketing initiatives amongst local communities, community and partner organisations, and national/local Media. The Events & Contingents Officer Role:
Our Volunteer Experience Team are responsible for the design and development of the way volunteering looks and feels at the Scouts, maintaining and producing key resources and polices, as well as leading our current transformation work to improve our overall volunteering
experience.
You'll act as Project Manager to plan and deliver of a range of large, high value, complex events organised by the Scouts, including UK Contingents to events overseas. This role involves working with staff and volunteers ensuring that events are delivered in accordance with project goals, policy, budget, scope and are successful. Events have participants who are both young people and adult volunteers.
Key responsibilities as our Events & Contingent Officer:
- Act as Project Manager for projects within the designated area of work, including;
- The allocation of resources
- Liaison with internal and external suppliers, key stakeholders, project sponsors and relevant committees or boards
- Contribute to the creation of project budgets and monitoring expenditure within agreed budgets
- Support the planning, implementation and delivery of events in the UK and abroad, and provide practical assistance and advice to volunteer teams and working groups

The support in this portfolio is easy to access, always-on, light-touch and on-demand open to all founders in any stage of their business journey.
We’re looking for an Events & Partnership Coordinator to join our Community Programmes Team. You would be responsible for supporting the production of our public events series as part of our wider Community Programme, and you would be managed by the Events & Partnerships Manager, working closely with members of our Programmes Team and our and Communications Team to ensure the ecosystem relationships we’re building are handed over smoothly and realise their intended outcomes.

We are seeking a Venue & Buildings Manager to help provide effective stewardship and management of our wonderful and busy Grade II* listed church building and room hire business.
Inspire Saint James Clerkenwell is a Church of England church with two services (11am and 4pm) and a congregation of around 200 adults and 80 children. The congregation is vibrant and diverse and passionate about sharing the good news of Jesus.
A large proportion of the church’s income is generated by hiring out the crypt, church and accompanying spaces to external clients. Our ability to rent out these spaces supports the church’s broader mission and helps maintain the building for future generations. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the building and the room hire business and see that the work they do supports and facilitates the ministry of the church. They will ensure that the resources we have are best utilised and that health and safety and legal obligations are fulfilled in relation to the building. This is a client facing role, where you are required to provide a professional service to all who visit the church and the variety of clients looking to use the venue as an event space.

Buildings Management

Devise, oversee and operate an annual schedule of maintenance for the Church building

Organise, schedule and supervise regular (annual, bi-annual) maintenance contracts for key infrastructure

Be the contact point for ad-hoc maintenance issues, either responding directly or organising appropriate contractors or volunteers

Project manage new developments and projects to improve the facilities and other aspects of the Church building

Liaise with health & safety consultants to develop and implement Church building policies
4. General Terms:
Location: The post will be based in the office at Inspire St James Church, EC1R 0EA, but we are open to hybrid working arrangements.
Hours: This role is provisionally 40 hours per week but we are open to discussing the possibility of reduced hours, job-shares, flexible start and finish times or compressed hours.
