We are recruiting a Project Coordinator to oversee the delivery and development of a flagship Community Wellbeing Project, which operates in partnership with Brent Council. The project is a Community Hub hosted in a community space in Stonebridge (not in Sufra’s existing premises). Members of the project can access a Community Shop, a Community Café and Kitchen, and holistic support in the form of Advice casework and workshops. The objective of the project is to deliver food aid alongside wraparound holistic support in way that improves the financial, physical and mental wellbeing of its members, who are struggling with the cost of living.
This collaborative project has been made possible due to the support of multiple partners and has already proven highly successful. It is likely to form the basis of a new model of support for people experiencing vulnerabilities that will be replicated across Brent and possibly elsewhere in London.
The Project Coordinator will oversee the delivery of the project, ensuring both the shop and the café operate effectively and in accordance with agreed standards and procedures. The successful candidate will help shape the project in the months ahead, whilst supporting guests, collecting data, and monitoring and evaluating the project. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a busy and varied environment, managing multiple priorities at the same time. They will have experience in a customer-facing role, dealing with the general public and managing volunteers. It would be beneficial for the post holder to have experience supporting vulnerable people with complex needs from a wide variety of backgrounds. Key Responsibilities
Philanthropy Events
- Work closely with team members to organise and manage the logistics for our major and mid-level donor event programme, comprising around 4-5 events a year, including the Rooftop Summer Drinks Party and November Private Dinner.
- Event management will include liaising with venue managers and suppliers both in the run up and during the event
- Work with the Philanthropy Executive to project manage on cross-income stream events, including sponsored challenge events such as the Impetus Triathlon, and Christmas Celebration Drinks.
Events Communication
- Support the Philanthropy team in putting together relevant event-related comms to all donors as required
- Manage systems and processes for fundraising events and actively look to improve and develop these alongside the Philanthropy Executive
- Manage the event side of the Salesforce database including guest list campaigns, pulling reports, creating mailing lists etc. Update the database with donor interactions, and other details in a timely and efficient manner.
Research
- Research and identify trends and news from the Events sector including new relevant venues, styles and fundraising event formats.
- Support the Philanthropy Executive in identifying trends and news from the wider fundraising sector.
Wider Philanthropy Support
- With the Philanthropy Executive, project manage relevant fundraising projects such as the June match funding appeal, and community fundraising projects including from schools and churches
- Provide ad hoc support to the Philanthropy team as required e.g. support with applications and reports, and hosting volunteers at Spear sessions.

About LifeSkills
The LifeSkills programme will offer groups of families the chance to come together to a trusted venue such as a children’s centre or community setting. As well as offering opportunities for families to spend quality time together and have access to healthy food, these sessions will offer LifeSkills workshops for parents and carers to build their confidence, social networks, financial and employability skills. Examples include but are not limited to overcoming setbacks, managing debt, boosting confidence to return to work, CV writing, interview skills. The role involves delivering LifeSkills sessions to groups of families in the Greater Manchester area. Gresham College is a charity which provides high-quality free education to the public across a broad range of subjects. The College aims to stimulate a love of learning and intellectual curiosity and to champion academic rigor, professional expertise and freedom of expression.
Gresham College has been providing free lectures within the City of London for over 400 years. Lectures are attended by an in-person audience and live-streamed around the world. We have currently had over 51 million online views.
The College is now in year four of an exciting five-year plan which has the primary aim of increasing and broadening the audience which the College reaches. JOB DESCRIPTION:
The postholder will be responsible for publicising Gresham lectures and speakers to the media to amplify our visibility, enhance our reputation, and attract new audiences to Gresham.
The post-holder will need to be able to translate complex, technical information into clear and engaging press releases and briefings. They will need to be capable of managing proactive, planned press work but also have the ability to react to events and enquiries as well. They should demonstrate a strong track record of working and placing articles with a variety of national / international / print / digital media outlets.
With help from junior staff, they will also proactively inform additional groups of upcoming lectures – for example, faculty heads / administrators of university programs aligned with the respective lecture topic.
They will build relationships with other organisations in our sector with a view to cross-promotion when appropriate.
Finally, they will serve as the primary liaison for external press agencies enlisted to undertake independent or standalone projects.
Reports to Executive Director
Salary £32,000 - £35,000 (Pro-rata, part time, 2 days (14 hours) a week role). Saul Pension scheme (currently 16% employers’ contribution)
Contract type This position offers an initial contract term of 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance.

Responsibilities
1. Write press releases about key lectures, speakers and series.
2. Disseminate these notices to media contacts (journalists, reporters, bloggers, media outlets) via media relations software, and personal correspondence when appropriate.
3. Build and maintain targeted lists of media contacts within media relations software to increase the efficacy of this work.
4. Act as the liaison between media contacts and Gresham speakers, facilitating collaboration such as the co-authoring of editorials or press interviews.
5. Work with junior colleague(s) to build lists of other contacts who may be interested in particular lectures and manage distribution of information to these groups.
6. Similarly, disseminate lecture information to other broadcast opportunities and platforms, such as membership associations, event-listing websites and newsletters, building reciprocal relationships with sector partners.
7. Serve as the primary liaison for external press agencies enlisted to undertake independent or standalone projects.
8. Report monthly on the above activities and recommend future development of the press and marketing offering.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:
1. Between three and five-years’ experience working as a journalist, in a press office or communications team.
2. Robust knowledge of the UK media landscape.
3. The ability to build good, working relationships with press and media contacts.
4. Success in securing national or wider press coverage of stories / stakeholders / campaigns.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to translate complex information and data into messaging for a range of audiences.
6. Proficient in drafting timely and accurate press releases.
7. Ability to organise time effectively, prioritise workload, meet deadlines and multitask with ease.
8. Able to work well under pressure and respond to issues at short notice and occasionally out of hours.
9. Good team player with an understanding of other communications disciplines
10. Confident use of MS office applications and other IT systems.

About the team
This role sits within our Mass Participation team, which supports participants in challenge events organised by third parties (e.g., the London Marathon) and bespoke Shelter events (e.g., Walk for Home, Facebook Challenge).
We’re part of Community and Events, which in turn is part of a wider department - the Income Generation directorate - which focuses on a variety of types of fundraising. The team is welcoming, supportive, and keen to meet you. We work hard but try to have fun as well. In short, there’s room to progress, both within the team and the wider directorate.
About the role
This Co-ordinator role sits in the Mass Participation team. We support participants in mass participation challenge events - both those organised by third parties (e.g. London Marathon) and bespoke Shelter events that we develop (e.g. Walk for Home, Facebook Challenge).
Across the charity sector, fundraising through challenge events was hugely impacted over the last three years because of Covid-19 and the cost-of-living crisis. At Shelter, we’ve consolidated our events offering to supporters and are investing in growing our portfolio, aiming to achieve growth in the coming years across challenge and bespoke events.
We’ve seen an increase in participation levels and income from third party events over the last 18 months, with sell out teams of up to 400 runners in our events. We are ambitious and seek to significantly grow our income and supporter numbers and are looking for someone who can join us to be part of the team that makes that happen. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in working in a charity, fundraising or events environment to learn more about community and events, take on the responsibility of overseeing and implementing events with the support of the Senior Mass Participation Manager, and develop a career in fundraising.
The main objective of the Co-ordinator role will be to deliver challenge and bespoke events, from planning and set up, pulling together financial budgets to meeting supporter recruitment and income targets through to the delivery of event day and evaluating results.
This role will primarily focus on delivering our participation in third party events (including the London Landmarks Half Marathon, the Great North Run and the Hackney Half Marathon). There will be opportunities to broaden experience and support the wider Community & Events team during busy times, and coordinators are expected to be flexible and work across the wider mass participation portfolio when required.
About you
Someone who enjoys collaborating and communicating with a variety of people, whether face-to-face, over the phone, by email, letter or via social media channels, you have great attention to detail and a proactive approach to everything you do. If you’ve got experience of managing challenge events for charities or stewarding large volumes (200+) supporters that would be a bonus but is not essential. A basic knowledge of budgeting (for which support will be provided) would also help you quickly gain confidence in the role. Equally important is a positive attitude to learning, a flexible approach and excellent time management skills, along with a willingness to be busy each day and enjoy the variety that brings.

The Health Awareness Coordinator role at Age UK Redbridge, Barking & Havering is an excellent opportunity to work within a small team on an established community health project in the London Borough of Havering, which helps to improve the health and wellbeing of local residents by identifying and recruiting Health Champion Volunteers within the borough.
My Health Matters is commissioned by London Borough of Havering (Public Health) and aims to inform, support and signpost residents to relevant local resources and empower them to adopt healthier lifestyles.
The role requires organising Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) Health Champion Training for people living and/or working in Havering and other health related training. You will be responsible for researching and organising events and relevant health literature to promote the project, engaging and building relationships with local stakeholders, supporting national Public Health campaigns. You will also be responsible for securing retention of trained volunteers using regular and effective communication. The role includes promoting the service at meetings and outreach events and organising focus groups with Health Champions. Undertaking administration to record any data collected from events, training and Focus Groups for monitoring purposes will be required. The role will also entail management of Health Awareness Officer, Admin Support Officer and volunteers.
Successful applicants will have relevant knowledge in health awareness issues in a paid or voluntary capacity. They will need to be excellent communicators and able to work effectively both one to one and as part of a team as well as supporting and motivating volunteers. Good computer skills and accurate record keeping are also required. Be flexible with both working hours and with other duties arising as the project develops. An enhanced DBS Disclosure is required for this post.
