Partners for a New Economy (P4NE) is an international donor collaborative of philanthropic foundations, hosted by Swiss Philanthropy Foundation, with the vision of our economy redesigned for nature and all people to flourish. Our website gives more detail on our grant-making and field-building activities. Our six funding Partners are based in the UK, Switzerland, Denmark and the United States, and our current staff team, led by Director Jo Swinson, has 5 people (3.3 FTE) all of whom work remotely (currently based in the UK, Denmark and Switzerland).
Responsibilities to include:
- Managing the Director & Programme Officer’s diaries
- Arranging online and in-person meetings and events
- Booking travel and accommodation for the Director and Programme Officer
- Working closely with the Programme Officer and Director to provide administrative support around our grant-making
- Providing support and completing administrative tasks, as required, to contribute to the activities of the P4NE team

Events and Community Network Manager

About the role
We’re looking for an engaging, organised, and experienced event manager who is ready to develop their skills by cultivating a broad package of events for people in Wandsworth, organising and engaging across our projects with occasional outreach and online network management.
You’ll have the opportunity to work on internal and external events of a varied nature, perhaps organising a public forum to discuss local health and wellbeing services with Healthwatch Wandsworth, preparing a training programme for local charity fundraising, or preparing an internal all-staff together day.
About you
This role is designed for someone with 2+ years’ experience working on events who is looking to grow skills in community development. We’re looking for a person to bring a proactive attitude to the role who is self-driven to develop skills, creative network solutions, and build relationships in the voluntary and community sector.
You will be someone who has a high standard of written and verbal communication skills, preferably with qualifications in marketing or events. Event profile
· Plan our Voluntary Sector networking event schedule, building on insight from our community to create engaging agendas, and attract compelling speakers
· Create public events for our Healthwatch brand, finding new, exciting ways to engage the public and professionals in conversation about health and social care services
· Manage a set of engagement events with our staff, stakeholders, boards, and volunteers

Event management
· Create and represent the adoption of events processes including an events calendar, event production schedules, wash up processes, review sheets, and briefing documentation for new proposals

Reporting and delegation

ABOUT THE ROLE
You will play an integral role in planning and delivering our flagship annual Night of Light Gala, working closely with our Event Lead and the rest of the Philanthropy Team on this dazzling event. Our Gala raised approximately £300K of vital funds in 2023. You will work with some amazing suppliers, high profile people, volunteers and supporters on this, and other events. You will get to support third-party events, including Golf Days and challenges, and special events like our 8-Hour cycle challenge round Brands Hatch for 20 teams of four in September, as well as any new events for our philanthropists to deliver vital income, and inspire our supporters to grow and repeat their events, each year.
You will also provide essential research and administration support to help prospect and steward incredible high-level supporters and our Fundraising Board of volunteers.

Organisational Background
The Council for At-Risk Academics is a UK-registered charity founded in 1933 under the leadership of William Beveridge, to rescue academics suffering persecution under the rise of Nazism and facilitate their continued work in safety. Sixteen Cara Fellows from the 1930s and 1940s became Nobel Laureates, and many more innovators in their fields, including, Nikolaus Pevsner, Lise Meitner and Karl Popper. A number of Cara’s founders and Council members also personally provided places and/or funds to help individual academics; and Cara, known in the 1930s as the AAC, later the SPSL, was closely involved in the successful effort in 1933 to bring to London the Warburg Institute art library, which had been prohibited by the Nazis, and six of its staff. The Fellowship Programme is the continuation of the rescue mission operation started in 1933.
Cara has been a lifeline to academics at risk for just over 90 years, as and when world events have placed them in the line of fire: Hungarian Uprising, Cold War, Apartheid South Africa, Iran, Latin American Juntas, Vietnam, Kosovo, DRC, Rwanda, Sudan, Zimbabwe etc. and, more recently Iraq, Turkey, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine. Cara support is typically framed as temporary sanctuary offered at times of heightened risk.

Part-time Fellowship Programme Assistant Role & Responsibilities
· Produce a weekly list of payments.
· Produce financial paperwork.
· Schedule Fellows’ placement disbursements on SalesForce (SF) – those having simple funding allocations and support the schedule of more complex funding requests when needed.
· Update disbursement details once paid on a weekly basis.
· Input payments made via our Pleo card to SF and link allocations.
· Update details for new grant requests (funding request status, disbursement details, and relevant allocations) and ongoing requests when needed.

ROLE PURPOSE
As our Executive Assistant (Maternity Cover, 0.8 FTE, Fixed term for 12 months), you will play a crucial role in developing and supporting our charity and strengthening our administration and governance. Key responsibilities:
Chief Executive Officer assistance
- Email and calendar management: helping to prioritise demands, responding to correspondence on behalf of the CEO and following up with contacts post-meetings.
- Arrange meetings and itineraries and coordinate travel as required.
- Stakeholder management support: utilising CRM to maintain updated databases for organisational contacts; support with the completion of contracts and registering purchase orders with suppliers,where the CEO is the lead contact.
Meeting management

Projects Assistant role description
The role involves identifying relevant project and research opportunities; assisting with developing winning bids and delivering successful projects. Examples of recent projects include developing a water scarcity index for BSi and creating an evaluation framework for water saving campaigns. Working Hours and Location
This post is a permanent role, full-time contract (37.5 hours per week) with options for hybrid working.
The successful applicant will be expected to regularly visit all the London campuses ensuring a face-to-face offer for our members. Our current sites are located in Liverpool Street, Vauxhall, Dagenham and North Greenwich. Liverpool Street currently acts as our main hub.
As an organisation, we have an agile working programme which supports staff working from home. However, regular working each week is required onsite (minimum 3 days per week) and flexibility to meet additional business need is required, for example at certain times of the year on campus delivery may be required every day during busy student events (Welcome / Graduation etc). There may be some infrequent weekend and evening working for which time off in lieu will be given.
We have a flexible approach and are open to applications from candidates that may require some variation to the contracted hours or hybrid arrangements (although this is not a fully remote role and a minimum of 30 hours / 4 days is required). If you would like to apply on a reduced hours basis it would be helpful to include this information in your application questions however selection / shortlisting will not be influenced by this information.
Salary Details
The salary is £29,605 - £33,966 (+ £3,000 London Weighing Allowance) per annum.
It is usual to start at the bottom of the grade and will increase incrementally on an annual basis however for a candidate with highly relevant previous experience an offer may be made within the grade range. The salary advertised is the full time salary, if the role is taken on a reduced hour basis the salary (LWA and holiday entitlement) will be calculated pro-rata accordingly.
