Family Futures is a not for profit, independent adoption and fostering agency and a therapy centre in London, rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2022 for the fourth consecutive time. We have a reputation for innovation and providing a gold standard service to children and families. It is an exciting time for Family Futures as we celebrate our 25th anniversary of helping families heal this year and develop our new strategy to drive forward our pioneering work into the future.
Family Futures offers a special service to assess, treat and find families for children who are traumatised or have attachment difficulties. Our services extend to adoptive, foster, special guardian, and at risk families.
What you will be doing.
As a Maintenance Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our facilities and creating a supportive environment for our clients. Your duties will include fixing furniture and equipment, installing new fixtures and appliances, assembling furniture, handling basic plumbing tasks, and undertaking repair jobs such as painting, decorating, carpentry, and basic electrics. You will also assist in creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for our clients, ensuring their safety and security. By volunteering your skills and expertise, you will become an integral part of our mission to improve the lives of children in need.
Who is right for the role.
We are particularly looking for those who have some or all of the following qualities and experience:
- Hands-on experience with a variety of home repairs and maintenance tasks.

Community Cycling Development Role

Part -time: this role is offered as a part time equivalent (e.g. 2-4 days).
Flexibility in working hours to meet both your needs and the needs of the organisation, including occasional weekend work, is expected. This will be scheduled with your involvement and we aim for this to be a suitable part time role for somebody with caring responsibilities or other commitments. Some home working is also possible.
There is a three month probationary period.

Background to the Role
Capital of Cycling administrates a successful programme of adult focussed cycling lessons for the Bradford District, which are funded by West Yorkshire Combined Authority. These are largely managed by Liz, our cycling lessons co-ordinator, supported by other staff and sessional workers and delivered in 5-6 settings.
We are looking for additional support for this provision and want to expand our delivery to be more responsive to the needs of the community groups we’re working with. These groups are asking for activities for young people and families that fall outside the remit of the existing adult-focussed programme.
We are therefore looking for a person who can deliver cycling related activities in community settings and work with community groups and partners to create opportunities to engage with cycling in a variety of ways, including children’s activities, family and community rides, either on or off-road.
National Standards cycle instructor and ride-leader certification with experience delivering cycling activities would be a significant advantage; however there is the opportunity for training to be received within the role.

Sense College Loughborough is a specialist Further Education (FE) college, supporting students between 16-25, who have a wide range of disabilities. We aim to prepare young people to be as independent as possible and help them to achieve their long term goals. We offer different pathways and work with Loughborough College, to help students gain the skills, experience, knowledge and confidence to achieve these goals.
Candidates interested in the role of Lay Governor at college must be able to demonstrate commitment to Safeguarding, Strategic leadership and a passion to Further Education particularly Specialist Education. A understanding of issues facing the post 16 specialist education sector would be desirable. If you feel you have the ability to make a positive contribution to meetings and provide constructive challenge to support senior managers at the college we would love to hear from you. The role of members of the Governing Body is to provide strategic leadership, support and constructive challenge to the college senior management team to ensure that Sense College provides an excellent education experience for all students. The Governors will work with the college senior management to ensure the college offers a broad based curriculum to maximise the teaching and learning experiences of all its students, with demonstrable outcomes. Sense College Loughborough Lay Governors will attend 3 full committee meetings a year, plus 3 extra meetings for their chosen sub-committee. Meetings last from 90 minutes for sub-committees and 2 hours 30 minutes for the full committee, Lay Governors will come prepared and engaged, having done the reading the prior and ready to ask any questions they may have. Governors of Sense College have a varied role encompassing a range of duties. Much of this is undertaken through participation in the full Governing Body meetings and Sense College sub-committees according to a governor`s experience and skillset, and through college visits.

- Reviewing, approving and monitoring the implementation of the Sense College 2022-2025 Strategic Plan

Befriending Volunteer
You can make a difference…Age UK Wandsworth is a small, local, independent charity that has been working with older people in the area since 1963. We rely on your support to keep serving the older residents with in the Wamdsworth community. We have a dedicated team of experienced staff and a large network of dedicated local volunteers. Our aim is to enable everyone to age well in Wandsworth. We would love your help to be able to continue to support older Wandsworth residents.
Our Be-a-Friend service is one of our longest running services, matching people over 65, who live alone and have limited social contact, with a friendly local volunteer with similar hobbies and interests. The volunteer and their new friend set up a suitable time for them to meet each week for a chat and a cup of tea, which could be during the day, in the evening on the way home from work or even on the weekends . If you would prefer to volunteer from home, you can also be matched with an older person for telephone befriending. For many of our matched pairs, this is the beginning of a firm friendship.
Befriending Plus
Befriending Plus is an extended version of the Be-a-Friend programme, for individulas needing help with life admin and small tasks as well as companionship. For Befriending Plus pairs, time spent together can include helping to use a phone or tablet, helping the client to organise their file, going out for a coffee or popping to the post office together. This support can help older people to stay independent at home for longer, as well as increasing their confidence to do these tasks when the volunteer is not there.

We are looking for a new Chair of Finance, who is also an ex-officio non-executive member of Chapter, our governing body, due to the retirement of our current Chair.
In late 2023 the Cathedral adopted a new governance structure and will become a registered charity in March 2024 when all members of Chapter, the governing body, will become Trustees.
As a non-executive trustee your role will be vital in the oversight of the overall management and administration of the Cathedral and ensuring that the Vision and Strategy formed in 2020 remains relevant. Working collaboratively with other trustees you will give strategic direction to the Cathedral, set overall policy, define goals and evaluate outcomes.
The role of Chair of Finance is both strategic and operational. The Chair works strategically to assist Chapter in ensuring good financial oversight, but also has a practical hands-on role working with the Chief Operating Officer and Finance Officer to enable the effective financial management of the Cathedral.
The successful candidate must have recent and relevant financial experience and a recognised financial qualification is preferred. The role may either suit someone who is currently working in a financial field or who has very recently retired from such in the last two or three years. They will be either a communicant member of the Church of England, or of a church with which it is in communion and an enhanced DBS check will also be required. A full induction programme and ongoing training is offered to enable members to deliver their responsibilities.

Green Synergy is a successful charity that supports people in the most disadvantaged communities in Lincolnshire to improve their mental and physical wellbeing. Our work includes:
- Community gardening and therapeutic horticultural programmes.
- Community engagement events that bring people together to create more life chances, quality green spaces and to re-connect people to green spaces, growing and nature.
We are looking for new trustees, including a Treasurer, who are passionate about improving lives and communities through gardening and horticulture. Green Synergy has ambitious growth plans and we wish to strengthen our board’s expertise in the following areas:
- Charity Finance including budgeting and year-end accounts (Treasurer)
- Marketing and Communications including social media
- Social Enterprise
- Knowledge of local policy especially regarding health, social care, education, employment and the environment
As a trustee you will:
- Have an induction, training and reimbursable expenses
- Contribute to improving lives and communities that are disadvantaged
- Have opportunities to develop new skills and to network with professionals
A wide range of applications are welcomed especially those with lived experience. The expected time commitment is a bimonthly board meeting and other events. As well as preparing for the board meetings Trustees may be called upon for specific advice and support in their areas of expertise.

Who we are
Angel Shed is a charity based in Islington, North London, specialising in inclusive performing arts for children and young people. We provide a safe space for children to express themselves, develop confidence and grow into curious, creative, and courageous young people.
We facilitate accessible activities for children and young people of all backgrounds and abilities; anyone is welcome to join, we never audition, our workshops are free to those who cannot afford them, and we provide one-to-one support for those who require it.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a Chair with experience of charity or organisational governance as well as a passion and a belief in giving children and young people access to inclusive and participatory performing arts. This appointment is an opportunity to have a positive and lasting impact on a growing charity that is really making a difference for children and young people in the Islington community.
Angel Shed will be celebrating its 20th year anniversary during 2024 and we are seeking to build on our continued success to develop and grow as we move into our third decade.
Remuneration:
The role of Chair is voluntary and is not a paid position. Expenses for reasonable costs, such as travel and care of dependants may be claimed.
Location:
Angel Shed's home is at City and Islington College, Islington, North London. All Board meetings are currently held here.
Time commitment:
6-9 board meetings per year, as required, with email contact and organisation between each. The Chair is also required to have regular meetings with the Artistic and Executive Director, and to represent the charity at various events and meetings.
Tenure:
An initial 3-year term, with the option for re-election for up to two further terms.
