The Role

As the Legacies Manager, you will assume a pivotal role within our dynamic Partnership and Development team. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the strategy and execution of our legacy programme, driving forward our mission to support vulnerable children, young people, and families across the UK. Drawing upon your strategic vision and extensive experience in fundraising, you will design and implement innovative legacy campaigns aimed at maximising income generation and expanding the reach of the organisation’s Family Hubs.

Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating closely with fundraising and partnership development experts to develop compelling legacy propositions and engage potential donors effectively. Key responsibilities of the Legacies Manager include:

• Develop and implement a legacy strategy/plan aligned with the charity's goals to increase/improve outreach to and engagement with legacy supporters and raise legacy income around agreed goals.
• Provide excellent stewardship to all supporters who engage with legacies, working with stakeholders to ensure journeys are insight-led, respond to audience needs, and are well documented and reported upon.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of legacy giving initiatives and regularly report on progress to senior leadership and key stakeholders. Use data and analytics to inform decision-making and continuously improve strategies for maximising legacy support.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the end-to-end process for delivering the legacies plan is designed and documented. This includes solving problems in circumstances where there is minimal guidance available from established practices and precedents within the organisation.
• Work closely with the Head of Relationship Fundraising and other fundraising colleagues to ensure that all fundraising activities are well-coordinated and contribute towards the overall fundraising strategy.
• Identify growth opportunities that foster organisational projects which impact and improve the Legacy programme.
• Develop and execute marketing and promotional campaigns to raise awareness of legacy giving opportunities within the organisation. Utilise various communication channels, including digital platforms, events, and printed Job Description & Person Specification materials, to effectively promote the importance of legacy giving and its impact on the organisation's mission.

Job Description

Purpose of the role

Our PR & Media Manager is crucial to our plans to scale up our media coverage as we enter the final years of our campaign to end bear bile farming in Vietnam. As part of the Comms team, you will work closely with colleagues in our Programmes and Fundraising teams to amplify their work through public relations, celebrity support and media activity. Your key areas of responsibility will include press office management, preparing PR & Media plans for each of our key markets, preparing pitches, media releases and content for media outreach and building a library of case studies to showcase our work. Your other key area of responsibility is supporting our highly successful celebrity liaison to raise Animals Asia’s profile through earned, owned and shared digital platforms, print and broadcast media. You will possess the knowledge, skills, and creativity to help us raise awareness of Animals Asia and what we stand for, helping us grow our supporter base and meet our brand goals. You will be managed and supported by our Global Head of PR and Media.

Key duties:

1. Responding to media enquiries, drafting media releases, undertaking proactive pitch development, outreach to journalists, maintaining our database of media contacts and other general press office management.
2. Supporting our Founder and our Global Head of PR and Media to develop and grow relationships with influencers and high-profile supporters, and deliver campaigns involving celebrities and influencers.
3. Preparing, publishing, moderating and reporting on social media content for PR and media purposes.
4. Close working with international colleagues and managing our PR agencies globally to deliver PR campaigns in our key markets and professional media management at international events.
5. Supporting and promoting global campaigns, appeals and events by developing press releases, media packs, briefings and other PR materials.
6. Developing and maintaining a case study, asset and fact file library.
7. Working with Meltwater and Muck Rack media monitoring systems to identify media opportunities and compile PR & Media performance reports.
8. Internal liaison with colleagues throughout Animals Asia to develop content and pitches for earned and owned media opportunities.
9. Drafting pitches and articles in close collaboration with our internal subject matter experts to develop our reputation and thought leadership in animal welfare.
10. Producing media-ready content, including video and written content.
11. Maintaining the news section of our website and media packs.

Person Specification

• Minimum of three years’ experience of working in a busy press office or PR agency, including drafting press releases and responding to media enquiries.
• Strong news sense, knowledge and interest in the environment, biodiversity and animal area is a plus.
• Experience of working with celebrities, their managers and agents.
• Good understanding of reputation management and associated risks.
• Experience in using media monitoring software to track media engagement, journalists and coverage.
• Extensive experience of writing and publishing to social media.
• Competent video editing skills.
• Excellent written English.
• Demonstrable experience of prioritising and delivering against multiple deadlines in a time pressured environment.

Conditions and Benefits

Place of work: Home-based (Global).

Working Hours:           Full-time.  Standard hours are 37.5 hours per week from 9am to 5pm.  You will be required to work such additional hours as are necessary to fulfil your role which may include evenings and weekends.  You will be expected to manage your hours, responsibilities and workload accordingly.

The Public Affairs and Policy Manager will play a crucial role in helping to determine and shape TMs policy goals and how best to achieve them. Working closely and collaboratively with colleagues from across the organisation, and in close consultation with the TMs internal and external stakeholder groups and networks you will develop policy, research and campaigning projects to meet the organisations strategic objectives.  You will be able to understand complex policy issues, recognise their relevance to the Traveller Movement and identify policy solutions. You will know how to generate and analyse data and bring issues to life by drawing out the lived experience of people from Romani (Gypsy), Roma and Irish Traveller communities 

You will led develop and sustain a small committed team of two policy and campaign officers to produce policy, research and campaigning activities.  You will lead TMs Public relations and influencing work developing relationships with policy makers, partner organisations, parliamentarians and the media. You will ensure co-production and the voice and lived experiences ethnic Romani (Gypsy), Traveller and Roma is central to all our engagement and influencing work. 

We are seeking a brilliant major donor fundraiser to play a crucial role in generating funds from HNWIs through major gifts and legacies. As Senior Philanthropy Manager you will step into a newly created position in the team that will focus on creating and implementing a compelling major donor programme.

Your focus will be to inspire giving for investment in the Hall, including initiatives to improve accessibility and sustainability, as well as the Hall’s pioneering community engagement programme. You will be a creative, driven and strategic individual who has a track record of developing engaging supporter journeys and soliciting transformational gifts.

As Senior Philanthropy Manager you will:

• create and deliver the major donor strategy focused on driving growth and income from HNWIs;
• personally manage a portfolio of philanthropists giving 5, 6 and 7-figure gifts;
• oversee and develop the prospect pipeline, proactively researching potential supporters and utilising networks from senior stakeholders involved in the Hall;
• consistently deliver exceptional stewardship journeys, knowing how to capitalise on the incredible array of events at the Hall as powerful engagement tools;
• produce and present compelling cases for support to secure transformational restricted and unrestricted donations;
• provide leadership and support to the Philanthropy Coordinator;
• work closely with the rest of the Philanthropy team to identify and maximise the lifetime support of donors.

Ideal skills and experience: 

• Demonstrable experience of managing and securing 5- and 6-figure+ gifts from HNWIs
• Proven track record of delivering a strong major donor strategy/programme
• Experience identifying major giving opportunities, building a pipeline and being proactive with prospect research
• Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders of all levels
• Line management experience, and keen interest in motivating and developing direct reports
• A creative flare, team player, proactive and ambitious
• Passion for the arts, sciences and the work of the Royal Albert Hall

Hybrid working, 3-4dpw in Royal Albert Hall, Kensington office. This role will require occasional evening and weekend work in line with the Hall’s events programme, in particular those attended by your donors and prospects.

To succeed in this role you will meet the following requirements: 

• Relevant graduate level qualification, or equivalent experience
• Evidence of effective influencing of public policy
• Evidence of continuing development of relevant knowledge and skills in the field of public policy development and research 
• Able to demonstrate a significant history of achievement at a senior management level
• Able to demonstrate significant achievement in influencing the development of public policy
• Able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the way that public policy and new legislation is formulated and developed 
• Track record of successfully influencing MPs, policy makers and opinion formers to achieve improvements on behalf of disadvantaged groups within society through the use of evidence, information and data gathered from a diverse range of stakeholders
• A passionate commitment to people with complex disabilities and Sense’s vision and values; a willingness to learn communication skills and how to make activities, opportunities and work accessible for people with complex disabilities. 
• A demonstrable commitment to delivering positive change in the lives of people with complex disabilities and their families. 
• Evidence of effective consultation with stakeholders using a range of methodologies to gather evidence to inform the development of policies. 
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at a senior level.
