Job description

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity dedicated to diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure. Backed by our passionate scientists and supporters, we’re challenging the way people think about dementia, bringing together the people and organisations who can speed up progress, and investing in research to make life-changing breakthroughs possible.

You will be part of an organisation that has been recognised nationally as an outstanding place to work. In 2021, we were listed 69th in the prestigious 100 Large Best Companies to Work For.  We were also awarded a 2-star accreditation by Best Companies, recognising outstanding levels of workplace engagement and were listed in the 75 Best Companies to Work for in the East of England and the Charity’s 30 Best Companies to Work For.

We are implementing a new CRM system to replace Raiser’s Edge. This is a hugely significant organisation-wide project that provides the opportunity to transform the way we engage with our supporters. This role will be essential to the success of the project and will be responsible for ensuring ARUK’s business processes are understood and challenged to ensure we can standardise processes across the charity. You will work with the CRM Senior Product Owner to define ARUK’s business requirements to develop User Stories. This will require close collaboration with the ARUK CRM Project team, ARUK colleagues and the CRM implementation partner.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

  • Work with users to understand and map out their processes within the existing CRM system.
  • Define and document user requirements and work with the users and the CRM Project Team to prioritise these requirements.
  • Constructively challenge users on their business processes and requirements to ensure we are challenging accepted norms, encouraging standardisation of processes and, where appropriate, adapting to the new CRM system.
  • Document ARUK’s business requirements as User Stories.
  • Work with users to determine acceptance criteria and tests for the User Stories, providing appropriate guidance.
  • Work with the CRM implementation partner to ensure there is common understanding for each User Story and any ambiguity is resolved prior to the sprint starting.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with the implementation partner to ensure there is excellent, clear communication throughout the project.

What we are looking for:

  • Understanding of business analysis approaches and methodologies.
  • Experience of working with end users to define business requirements and provide solutions within the technical capabilities of the CRM system.
  • Experience of producing technical documentation such as process workflows, user stories and user requirements.
  • Experience of working with a third-party implementation vendor during a project.
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to build relationships, trust and respect at all levels. Effectively communicates to people of all different technical abilities.
  • Demonstrates strong negotiation, influencing and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent listening skills, receptive to feedback and demonstrates flexibility.
  • Strong team player who can work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with an ability to work to deadlines and reprioritise work in accordance with the organisational needs.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products.
