The opportunity

This is a new opportunity to work alongside CMF's Accountant to undertake regular administrative financial tasks.

Our volunteer Finance Assistant will assist the accountant with tasks such as processing bank transfer requests, ensuring accounts software is up to date and accurate, and preparing financial reports.

Would you be willing to use your passion, skills and experience to support CMF in our mission to see Christian healthcare professionals united and equipped to live and speak for Jesus Christ?

This role is based at our London office.

Job description

Quilombo UK is looking for a Finance Assistant to join their growing team.

Quilombo UK works with the objective to;

• promote different arts, sports and cultures to encourage an intercultural understanding between different communities and societies

The Finance Assistant will be responsible for a range of activities like assisting the Finance Manager in managing and processing various accounts, reconcile financial data and record various financial transactions. There will be some other administrative tasks too.

This role offers a great opportunity for the right person who is looking to; gain experience in the Third Sector; develop their office based and management experience; or just simply 'give something back to their community'.

Where necessary specific training will also be provided to help you develop and grow your skill set.

Main Responsibilities

• Collect and enter data for financial spreadsheets
• Verify & check the supporting documentation for and seeking approval of staff and other stakeholders for expenses claims.
• Process expense claim transactions once paid.
• Assist in processing & preparing the forms for checking account balances.
• Assist with payment and bank reconciliation tasks.
• Perform routine calculations and produce analysis reports, as and when required
• Review the department budgets on a routine basis.
• Assist in reviewing and auditing financial statements and reports, to check their accuracy.

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours commitment per week across Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday.

As a pivotal part of the local volunteer team, you will help plan group spending for the benefit of people affected by Parkinson's in your community.

What you will be doing

• Be an ambassador for Team Parkinson’s - engaging with local staff, volunteers, and your local community, to ensure the group has the greatest possible impact on those affected by Parkinson's in your area
• Accurately record financial activity, keeping the group and the Parkinson's UK local networks finance team informed of the group's financial position
• With support from your local staff, stay up to date with Parkinson's UK's financial policies actively sharing them with the group and supporting the group to operate within them
• Provide regular reports to the committee on the financial status of the group including final accounts at the Annual General Meeting
• Deal with financial administration for the group, from annual reports to legacy spending, and ensuring volunteer expenses are paid accurately in line with our volunteer expenses policy
• Be a signatory on the group's bank accounts

The skills you need

• Previous experience in finance, accountancy or bookkeeping can be valuable, but is not essential
• Confident with numbers and able to take the lead on the group’s finances
• Have confident computer and email skills - be open to using new systems and other digital tools
• Have a commitment to the wider charity’s aims and values
• Be able to contribute to balanced decisions that take into account multiple views, and to do so in a collaborative, open and inclusive way with committee and local staff

About the organisation

Every Future Foundation is an established anti-racism youth charity dedicated to challenging institutional racism and prejudices by educating the next generation and equipping them with the skills to be catalysts for change.

Our primary focus is to deliver impactful anti-racism workshops in schools and provide intensive training for educators. Additionally, through our Activism Academy Programme, we aim to mentor and train young leaders to be staunch advocates against systemic and institutional racism.

About the role

As a trustee you will be required to attend 6 x 1 hour trustee meetings per year, these are usually held on zoom. For this position, we are also looking for someone who has a financial background to support with:

1. Financial Management: Working with our Director and senior team to oversee financial aspects of EFF, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Utilizing your expertise in financial analysis, you will provide insights to inform decision-making and ensure prudent fiscal management.

2. Budget Development:Collaborating closely with the Executive Assistant and Director, you will lead the development of annual budgets aligned with EFF's strategic goals and programmatic priorities.

3. Internal Controls and Compliance: Helping the senior team to ensure that our financial practices are compliant and effective.

4. Bookkeeping: Working with our Director to ensure that our bookkeeping (in Xero) is accurate and up to date. This will most likely be a meeting once a quarter to go through our Xero accounts and check everything is correct.

5. End-of-Year Accounts: Supporting on organising our end-of-year accounts and working with our accountant to ensure smooth submission.

Other duties may include:

- Approving payments in our bank account

- Taking ad-hoc meetings with our Director if and when needed.

Main Responsibilities

• Share the responsibility of jointly reporting the financial position (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance etc).
• Jointly oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits and the production of an annual budget and propose its adoption at the last meeting of the previous financial year.
• To ensure jointly that proper accounts and records are kept and that Plateful Cafe meets its legal obligations in respect of its financial affairs and financial reporting
• To ensure jointly that Plateful Cafe’s financial resources are spent in line with good governance and legal and regulatory requirements
• To be jointly instrumental in the development and implementation of Plateful Cafe's financial policies
• To jointly supervise and assist Finance assistants

Main Tasks
- Liaising with the appropriate member(s) of volunteers responsible for Plateful Cafe’s
financial activities and financial record-keeping
- Make members aware of their financial obligations and take a lead in interpreting
financial data to them.
- Monitoring that financial systems and controls are in place and adhered to
- Assist the fundraising team and team with Funding applications with the finance
questions
- Assist with preparing budgets and other financial information for funding bids
- Assist volunteers with the preparation of financial reports for funders
- Acting as a financial spokesperson for Plateful Cafe as appropriate
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures and controls
are in place, ie:

• Cheque signatories
• Purchasing limits
• Purchasing systems
• Petty cash/ float
• Others as appropriate

- Appraising the financial viability of plans, proposals and feasibility studies.

- Lead on appointing and liaising with auditors/an independent examiner.

- Undertake bookkeeping duties and/or oversee the finance volunteer ensuring posting
and bookkeeping is kept up-to-date.

- Maintain the petty cash system and regularly process petty cash claims.

- Regularly carry out reconciliations/ oversee regular reconciliations by the finance
volunteer.

- Arrange payments to creditors as appropriate and arrange appropriate signatures on
payments.

- Make the necessary arrangements to collect payments from debtors and bank
payments promptly.

Qualities
 Knowledge and experience of current and fundraising finance practice relevant to
voluntary and community organisations.

OCD and phobia sufferers often tell us how misunderstanding of their conditions leaves them feeling isolated, alone and afraid to seek help.
