Purpose of the People & Culture Assistant role:
To work as part of the People and Culture team to provide a professional, high quality, timely, customer focused HR recruitment/contractual administration/transactional service to key internal stakeholders, job applicants and support closely on people and culture activities especially the Learning and Development workstream.
Key duties and responsibilities of the People & Culture Assistant:
To provide high quality HR administrative support across the full spectrum of the employee lifecycle, including:
· Conducting pre-employment checks for new starters (references, DBS, Right to Work in UK)
· Recruitment administration (writing and posting adverts, shortlisting, arranging interviews)
· Absence management
· Preparation and issue of contractual documentation (including contract variations)
· Payroll updates
· Maternity/Paternity administration
· Administration of performance management and improvement systems (probation, Appraisals, PIP forms)
· Termination of employment (all categories, including writing leaver documentation and conducting Exit Interviews)
· Upkeep of electronically stored personal records
· Conducting regular HR Audit checks to ensure integrity of data is maintained
· Supporting the P+C Manager on all other aspects of HR administration
What we are looking for in our People & Culture Assistant:
· Experience of working in a complex administrative role within HR
· Experience of using HR/Payroll/recruitment ATS online systems
· Good numeracy and literacy skills
· Awareness of employment legislation
· Ability to effectively organise and work to tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail
· Ability to work independently and a willingness to contribute to team efficiency through sharing information and supporting others
· Experience of providing informal training/coaching to colleagues in relation to administrative tasks
· Proficient in the use of software packages and Microsoft office software

What is the role about?
A new project to support survivors of Domestic Abuse named 'SAFER' means we have a vacancy in the Administration Team. Undertaking a range of administration tasks to support the Kent Team in their day to day operations helping people affected by crime. Using a range of databases to enter or retrieve information, communicating with colleagues, the police and other agencies by e-mail and telephone and receiving and responding to internal and external queries and referrals.
You will need:
Our ideal candidate is someone who is resilient, confident, happy to work as part of a team and willing to constantly learn and adapt to new situations. They will enjoy being a part of a busy and varied working environment and can demonstrate an ability to communicate with both colleagues and external partners including investigating officers. As an Operations and Office Assistant at Back Up, your primary objective is to provide comprehensive operational support and fostering an efficient office environment. The two Assistant Vergers and Precinct Officers (AVPOs) carry out a wide range of duties under the direction of the Head Verger and Precinct Manager. Work includes: the careful setting up and delivery of all liturgical matters; ensuring a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for all working in, visiting, or using the Cathedral and Cathedral House and precinct and ensuring the day-to-day smooth running of the Cathedral for all.

- Sympathy with the Christian faith.
- At least one year’s experience as a church or cathedral verger or in a similar role.

The role of Personal Assistant to the Principal will provide the Principal with proactive and confidential project-related and administrative support, with a particular focus on development and fundraising activities. Our current annual expenditure on charitable activities is around £1.3m and we rely on donations and receive no public subsidy. The Principal therefore acts as both the head of the Charity as well as the primary fundraiser.
The post-holder will possess strong written communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the tenacity to follow work through to completion. He/she should have experience in a previous PA and/or fundraising & development role, ideally within the Charity sector.

About you

Main duties of the job
- Provide support to the department on a range of administrative tasks including, dealing with enquiries (postal, telephone, email, face to face), opening and sorting post.

- Support all fundraising activity and represent the charity at internal and external events.

The Role
This role will ensure the organisation is following robust financial systems and processes; carry out all day-to-day accounting tasks; and ensure timely production of financial information to inform management decisions. Most tasks can be done from home, however some tasks such as banking and petty cash reconciliation will require you to attend our offices. A proven track record of relevant financial administration experience is essential and competence in the use of Xero accounting software, Excel and other MS packages such as word and Outlook is essential. You must be able to clearly convey financial information to non-finance colleagues.
