Key Responsibilities:

Competencies and Qualifications:

- Preferably progressing towards/has recognised accountancy qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ICAEW)
- Understanding of UK financial regulations and tax laws, with specific knowledge of VAT and GiftAid advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with both finance and non-finance colleagues.

St Paul’s Cathedral School are pleased to be exclusively partnering with Robertson Bell in search of a new Financial Controller to join their team on a permanent basis. St Paul’s Cathedral School is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 5 to 13 (Reception to Year 8).
The Financial Controller will report into the Bursar and be responsible for for the whole of the School’s day-to-day accounting function to ensure effective procedures and robust controls are in place for all aspects of the function.
The organisation:
Situated in the heart of the City of London, at the East side of the Cathdral, the School enjoys state-of-the-art facilities for academic work, music, performing arts and sport in a single-site campus. With around 275 pupils (with up to 36 Cathedral Choristers who are boarding pupils), the School is small enough to ensure that each pupil receives individual attention, yet large enough to offer an array of academic and extra-curricular opportunities that a Prep school could deliver. There are 84 members of staff, comprising teachers, teaching assistants, music instructors and a support team.
The role:
- Assist the Bursar to seek commercial income opportunities and monitor and advise on school investments through liaison with external investment managers.
- Deputise for the Bursar in all finance matters and at governor committees, or at SLT meetings when requested by the Head.
- Support the Bursar’s financial and audit responsibility.
- Check Income & Expenditure (I&E) variances and explain and compare findings to previous year, to budgets and to forecasts.
- Prepare weekly cashflow forecast and monthly management accounts.
- Compile and analyse the annual school budget, setting and monitoring.
- Prepare initial input data for new arrivals, departing staff, music teachers and additional overtime payments.
- Modernise the finance IT package and update the finance manual.
- Oversee and administer school fee collection, process supplier payments and invoices.
- Prepare and present the annual accounts for the annual statutory audit and liaise with the auditors and implement audit findings.
The successful candidate will be:
- A fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or at Finalist level.
- Experienced in budgeting, forecasting and producing management accounts.
- A fantastic communicator.
- Experienced in developing and implementing financial systems and internal controls.
- Confident assisting with annual audits and in the preparing of annual accounts.
This position will be based officially at the head office in central London next to St Pauls Cathedral and will require the postholder to work from the office with occasional hybrid working. For a leading global NGO, we're recruiting a Project Financial Controller for a fixed term of 12-months. Reporting to the Senior Financial Controller and working closely with the CEO, this role will lead the financial management and internal controls for the Regional and Country offices and shared service processes and transactions. The Senior Accountant (Financial Control) post can be based in either the London or Manchester office. This role is in the central Financial Accounting and Control Team (FACT). In addition to being DCMS’ financial accounting Centre of Excellence, the team leads in the production of the consolidated accounts of the DCMS Group (with 34 of its 42 Arms Length Bodies directly consolidated) and manages the National Lottery Distribution Fund. The team is the hub for all financial operational and control functions including treasury management, VAT, purchase to pay support and manages the relationship with DCMS’ shared services provider. Key responsibilities of the Senior Accountant (Financial Control) will include:
- Management and delivery of robust financial policies, controls, processes and systems.
- Management of the core department’s key finance system (Integra) and the relationship with the department’s shared service provider.
- Overseeing the payment process for suppliers via Purchase to Pay (P2P), including prompt payment monitoring and reporting.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Strategy and Operations
1. Develop, implement, and lead execution of the charity's annual operational plan and 3-year strategic plan.
2. Identify appropriate level of staffing, volunteering, ensuring that all staff and volunteers are appropriately interviewed, vetted, inducted, trained, developed, and supported to deliver against their objectives.
3. Ensure appropriate upkeep, security, and management of the charity’s premises, including all relevant contracts and payments.

5. Line management of seven staff members, and responsibility for staff and team development, cohesion and appraisals.

12. Ensure that the charity is receiving value for money with all expenditure, ensuring contract review on a timely basis as appropriate.

Communications and Impact

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
Financial Accountant

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world.
We are a very ambitious organisation which has gone through transformational growth over the past five years. Alongside funding an existing programme of world-leading research, treatment and care, the Charity has recently completed its largest capital appeal to date, successfully raising £70 million to build the Oak Cancer Centre at the hospital’s Sutton site.
The role is primarily responsible for ensuring the integrity of the monthly financial reporting to trial balance and producing the statutory accounts for the Charity and Trading Subsidiary. It also includes supporting the management and continuous development of the finance systems and processes.
Key responsibilities:
- Management of year end audit and production of statutory accounts including liaison with auditors, dealing with queries and management of the year end timetable.
- Completion of a timely month end process to trial balance stage, which includes a review of our monthly nominal activity report before month end close
- Ensuring that all balance sheets accounts are reconciled monthly, and any differences are dealt with accordingly, including bank reconciliations, intercompany, fundraising income and restricted fund reports
- Responsible for Quarterly VAT Returns, management accounts for our Trading subsidiary and the reconciliation of the intercompany account with the Charity
- Processing of monthly journals including income and expenditure accruals, prepayments, quarterly depreciation, recharges and grant reporting
- Support the review and development of financial policies and procedures
- Work with the Head of Grants and Financial Controller of the Trust to ensure accurate cashflow forecasting for the Charity
The successful candidate will be a fully qualified or qualified by experience accountant with a desire to drive change in an organisation. Additional skills include highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise and work across different teams.

About Our Client
The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial management of St George's Weybridge, a £30m business with over 500 staff. The post holder will fulfil a wide range of responsibilities and roles in connection with the financial strategy, accounting and general financial management of the School. The post is the most senior finance professional on the staff and reports directly to the Bursar, who is effectively the CFO/COO. As such, the Director of Finance has frequent direct contact with Governors and the Heads and attends the Governors' Finance and Risk Committee meetings.
The Director of Finance is a member of the Business Senior Management Team and leads a team of 8 staff, comprising the Management Accountant, Payroll and People Accountant, Fees Controller, Interim Project Accountant, Purchase Ledger Assistant and two Finance Assistants. Job Description
- Formulate the financial strategy of the School alongside Governors and the Executive Leadership Team (consisting of the two Heads and the Bursar).
- Attend meetings of the Finance and Risk Committee of the Board of Governors, preparing financial reports and papers and leading on financial items tabled for discussion or decision.
- Attend and contribute to ad-hoc Governor meetings and discussions as required.

Job purpose
This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial sustainability and integrity of LGT, developing resilient foundations for our front-line services, community development, policy and campaigns work to grow in scale and impact.
Working closely with the CEO, Project and Team Leads, you’ll lead all aspects of financial management from budgeting, accounting and compliance, financial management of grants, to reporting to the Finance Committee to support the Board of Trustees and leadership with financial planning and decision making. About the role
Reporting into the Finance Manager (Systems and Controls), you will be a key member of the team and the lead officer for the management, maintenance, development and improvement of the Council’s Financial Systems. You will be responsible for the team that deals with all transactional services (accounts payable, accounts receivable and income allocation), reconciliations of these areas, and debtor monitoring.
