ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a Children and Family Worker to join the team in our West London Women's refuge. The service is a refuge accommodation for women and children surviving domestic abuse many of whom are living with trauma. we are looking for someone who really cares about the rights of women and their children.

As a Children and Family worker, you will support in providing a much needed safe and nurturing environment for children and their mother's, providing pathways, support and appropriate interventions to enable resettlement. You will support various teams to co-produce a tailored support plan which is altered to the individual's needs through a recovery model providing trauma informed and enabling environments to achieve this. 

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, working on a rota which is over 7 days including evenings. You will be based on site within the service.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Children and Family Relationships

• Provide parenting advice to support mothers and their families.
• Provide stimulating play opportunities to encourage children from all backgrounds to develop and express themselves, as well as support the children with their general learning, homework, and literacy.
• Support with early learning development, supporting mothers through advice and activity packs which aid their children’s learning and development.
• Deliver family sessions to support contract orders by social services and other organisations, as well as to help rebuild relationships, life skills, confidence, reliance, self-esteem and manage trauma.
• Offer age-appropriate sessions to children to provide a safe, encouraging, and development led environment which provides meaningful and memorable experiences.
• Work with residents and their keyworkers to understand complex needs to help build children’s and their families lives.

Support Working

• Build and sustain trusting and respectful relationships with our residents, including children.
• Create a safe, stable, psychologically informed environment which is nurturing to children and families.
• Provide support for residents, contributing to the development of support plans, risk assessments, reviews, regular support sessions and other personal development activities.
• Support with reducing barriers to reintegrating into communities, and re-developing confidence, skills, and coping mechanisms to support those with previous trauma.
• Develop and sustain therapeutic relationships with our residents, providing practical and emotional support with a trauma informed approach to ensure they are always treated with respect and dignity. Deal with sensitive information in a professional manner.

Additional Responsibilities

• Attend appointments as and when required in support of residents.
• Undertake shift lead responsibilities on rotation, taking responsibility for ensuring day-to-day support delivery is effective, with staff carrying out their designated responsibilities, alongside ensuring resident and service-specific follow up actions are completed.
• Housing Management responsibilities, ensure residents and staff are safe, and the surroundings are kept clean and well maintained.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. 

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds
• Previous experience and/or in-depth knowledge about working with children who have experienced trauma
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience
• Understanding of the trauma children and families may go through due to domestic violence and other previous experiences
• Understanding of the social needs and support required for people with multiple and complex needs
• Understanding and/or practical knowledge of the social and societal marginalisation that can be attached to people with various challenging backgrounds, mental health, addiction, exploitation, homelessness, and previous convictions

What we would like, but not essential:

• Previous experience creating co-produced support plans, key working, and care planning, providing appropriate interventions for service users
• Previous experience providing housing support and practical assistance within a residential support role
• Appropriate Professional Qualification in: Social Care, Early years Education, Certificate in Childcare or other relevant
• Understanding and/or practical application of key legislation regarding social care, housing, criminal justice, and mental health
• Ability to Recognise signs of deteriorating mental health and initiate appropriate interventions to prevent crisis

Doddsfield Rd has 6 independent living flats with floating support.

What you'll do:

- Undertake key-working responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the Team Leader/ Manager.
- Undertake initial and continuous assessment of needs and potential risks and agree levels of support and actions.
- Create support/action plans for providing appropriate services based on the assessment and reflecting the services and resources available.
- Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation.
- Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local community.
- Empower customers to ensure they receive the service and benefits they are entitled to
- Undertake all administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive tenant/customer records to professional standards.
- Encourage and enable tenants to pay their rent and to ensure that rent accounts are managed effectively in conjunction with the Housing Management team.
- Ensure that referrals are chased proactively so that properties which can be used to house those in need are filled as efficiently as possible.

A Tenancy Support Worker is required to work on a 3 month rolling contract for a homelessness charity based in Kingston. This role has the potential to go permanent. ABOUT THE ROLE

A new opportunity has arisen to join a new contract in Lewisham. You will support over 2 properties which supports residents and participants with acute and/or complex mental health needs who are supported/treated in the community in their recovery as appose to hospital inpatient care. You will focus on rehabilitating and reintegrating our residents and participants and help our residents and participants achieve their personal goals and gain a level of recovery that enables them to return home or move into supported housing.

Shift Pattern: Rota based Monday to Sunday between 08:00 and 19:30 

ABOUT THE SERVICE

The Integrated Community Rehabilitation Services will enable people to receive a community-based offer and avoid admission into a rehabilitation unit. 

The service is across 2 properties in Lewisham (one 8 self contained rooms, and another with 6 self contained rooms) located in close proximity to each another and both will be staffed 24/7 by a minimum of 2 Mental Health Recovery Workers (MHRW) at all times, at each site. This will include Shift Leads to support the Management Team. 

These addresses are a short walk from each other and are served by good public transport links; close to Bellingham, Catford and Catford Bridge train stations, and close to bus stops.

Salary Banding: £27,500 per annum (salary banding)

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Young Persons Housing Advisors to join our team based in Hatfield! You will be responsible for providing advice, guidance and support to vulnerable people aged 18-24 years.

How will you make a difference? 

You will support vulnerable young people to find or maintain suitable accommodation. This involves setting up and or / sustaining their tenancies thus helping to prevent repeat homelessness. You will provide housing advice and support, including information on the relevant benefits and will assist them to identify other support needs, such as mental health issues.

The young people we support are amazing, inspiring and courageous. The challenges they face can test even the most resilient and they often lack the support needed to see them through difficult times; leaving them stressed, anxious and overwhelmed. What will you be doing? 

• Manage a caseload of young people aged 18-24yrs.
• Ensure that all young people work towards an agreed support plan which is regularly reviewed and adapted to ensure that they meet their individual needs and goals.
• Build a professional and trusting relationship with the young people to enable to them to engage with the support and improve their situation and prospects.
• Engage effectively in multi-agency working, developing collaborative relationships and partnerships with relevant staff in a range of agencies to broker and co-ordinate support for young people.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of income related subjects such as benefits, money advice & grants.
• Be hyh’s benefits & money advice specialist, sharing knowledge and providing advice to the teams.
• Take the lead in developing and delivering benefits and/or money advice training.
• Work in partnership with the Catalyst Housing Floating Support staff to provide a consistent service countywide.
• Be ambassador for the charity both internally & externally to further hyh aims whilst protecting and enhancing its reputation.
• Immerse hyh’s values into your professional practice at all times.
• Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with external agencies and partners to ensure we are a provider of choice.
• Actively participate and provide valued contributions in supervision, team meetings and other meetings as appropriate.
• Work as part of a team by supporting, communicating, and engaging with your colleagues.
• Identify where crisis management is required and liaise with relevant services to ensure the crisis is responded to and prevented where possible.

What can you bring to the team?

• Candidates Must have a full clean driving license and use of own vehicle for business purposes
• Able to demonstrate an understanding of the problems facing homeless young people.
• Ability to engage and motivate young people, strong interpersonal skills including the ability to be appropriately assertive.
• General administrative skills (filling, record keeping and computer literacy)
• Ability to work effectively with a full and varied workload with conflicting deadlines.
• Excellent understanding of confidentially with strict professional boundaries and personal integrity
• Excellent planning, organisational & time management skills
• An understanding of the voluntary sector and the constraints placed upon voluntary sector organisation (desirable) 
• Have a flexible working approach to the needs of the service users.
• IT literacy including excel, word, teams and outlook
• Highly motivated with the ability to work using your own initiative and as part of a team
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive professional relationships.
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
• Willingness to work flexibly where required.
• A commitment to undertake training where required and an enthusiasm for new challenges and experiences.

Safe Haven Crisis Support Worker

£23,625.00 pa full-time, actual £17,878 pa

Hours: 28 hours pw (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 6.00pm – 1.00am plus 2 admin hours – preferred Tuesday AM)

Buckinghamshire Mind is seeking a Mental Health Crisis Support Worker to join the team at Safe Haven: our out-of-hours support service for those experiencing a mental health crisis.

Buckinghamshire Mind works to support and represent people with mental health illnesses living across the county. We tackle stigma and discrimination head-on. We support our service-users to live safe, purposeful and fulfilled lives in our communities. We believe in their recovery and are hopeful about their future. Working together with National Mind we will not give up until everyone in our community gets the respect and help that they need.

The right person will join our team in providing support in a safe, calm and empathic environment and ability to support individuals who are at a point of mental health crisis and accessing the service.
