PURPOSE:
Clean Air Task Force (CATF) is a non-profit global organization focused on driving the change in technologies and policies needed to get to a net zero carbon-emissions, high-energy planet at an affordable cost. CATF is highly respected for its deep expertise and research on energy and industrial systems and potential strategies, technologies, and policies that can radically shrink those systems’ impact on the planet’s atmosphere. Our team of experts and advocates (and global network of subject matter experts and civil society partners) put this research and knowledge into action by designing and enacting public policies that drive toward zero emissions. We also support policies and work directly with private industry to innovate in technology to make the path to zero emissions swift and affordable.
CATF is a global organization and has offices in the US and Europe, and operates globally through work with partners in Europe, Asia, Canada, Latin America, and in multilateral international forums ranging from the International Maritime Organization to the International Energy Agency to the Climate and Clean Air Coalition to the Responsible Steel Coalition. CATF is currently expanding its presence in Europe and seeks to strengthen its advocacy efforts through this hire. Current areas of focus include advancing zero carbon fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia, pushing for public policies to rein in methane pollution from the oil and gas sector in the UK and from global oil and gas, and commercializing carbon management technologies and CO2 infrastructure for industrial decarbonization and carbon removal. Other aspects may include and are not limited to transatlantic and international climate diplomacy as well as the global climate and energy transition impacts of energy imports. As CATF’s government affairs lead in London, the Government Affairs Officer will work closely with European communications staff, project leaders and issue experts based in Europe and the United States, and European partner organizations to help develop and execute public policy campaign strategies in support of CATF’s program goals and objectives in London.
Primary duties and responsibilities of this position:
- Strategy Development – With CATF’s global team, provide input on public policy advocacy strategies to support organizational goals and objectives in the region;
- Government relations – Connect, cultivate and enhance personal working relationships with key institutions, lawmakers, policymakers and policy influencers in Germany and the Laender.
- Track UK level climate and energy policy developments and intervention opportunities and link CATF technical and policy experts and consultants with policymakers as needed to support development and implementation of strong climate and energy policies;
- Policy Tracking – Stay informed about relevant policymaking efforts in the UK; systematically communicate updates to other CATF staff; and work collaboratively with our EU Government Affairs team and the Program Directors and staff to leverage our advocacy efforts.
- Messaging – Provide input on CATF external positions for proactive announcements and reactive statements;
- Written Materials – Write and/or edit comment letters, fact sheets, and other material for advocacy meetings. Provide input on press statements, press releases, blogs and other written material for distribution to news media and/or posting on CATF website; Work collaboratively with the European Communications Director and the Chief Marketing Officer
- ENGO Collaboration – Work with coalitions and individual NGO partners on external relations, help convene and broaden existing coalitions
- Fundraising – support fundraising and donor efforts as necessary
Skills/Experience/Education necessary for the position:
- Bachelor’s degree along with at least three years of successful experience in a substantially similar role;
- Background in UK energy and climate policy and connections to UK energy and climate policymakers, think tanks, NGOs and at the state level;
- Fluency in English
- Agile and flexible self-starter able to work on multiple competing deadlines and extending outside of usual work hours to accommodate team members in different time zones;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Strong writing and editing skills;
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to policymaker inquiries;
- Highly organized self-starter, entrepreneurial spirit essential.

COMPENSATION AND LOCATION:
This is a full-time, funding-dependent position. CATF offers an excellent benefits package and a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience.

Prospectus is delighted to be working with British Gas Energy Trust to recruit a HR and Governance Manager who will provide governance support on a day-to-day basis for the Trust's Boards and Committees and will provide support to the Chief Executive.
British Gas Energy Trust is an independent charitable Trust (funded solely from donations from British Gas) who contribute to the relief of poverty, with a particular focus on fuel poverty. The Trust runs two main funding streams, the first is a programme that helps families and individuals experiencing hardship who are struggling with gas and electricity debts by awarding grants to clear those debts; and secondly through large grants to not-for-profit organisations across the UK.
Please note this role is offered on a part-time basis (22.5 hours a week) and can be worked fully remote, from the UK.
The main responsibilities of this role include overseeing standards and procedures, undertaking risk assessments and assisting the development and implementation of productive and efficient policies. You will also strengthen HR functions and be responsible for on-going improvements such as the maintenance of shared drives, templates etc. alongside preparing letters, employment contracts and any other relevant correspondence.
To be successful as a HR and Governance Manager you will be pragmatic and be able to provide appropriate solutions in basic HR situations, have the proven ability to prioritise work effectively and know how to use initiative. You will have prior governance and administrative experience, such as minute taking, agenda setting and diary management and have knowledge of HR best practise.

Background/ Summary:
The Stichting Funder Forum (SFF) is a small team supporting a network of funders that work to create a systemic shift away from oil and gas, in service to a safer climate future. Established in 2021, Stichting Funder Forum (SFF) is an informal forum of actors and organizations engaged in assessing and discussing the energy transformations that are taking place globally. To achieve the objective SFF works with both global and regional philanthropies to help enhance existing initiatives or help incubate new initiatives to have the most impact in support of these goals.
To enhance our impact the SFF is seeking a highly motivated and proactive individual in the area of data analysis to work as their new Data Manager, to sit in the FFOG Strategy Team, led by our Strategy Director, Alex Doukas.
The Data Manager will need to assist in the development of and plan the work programme for the philanthropic grant-making and oil and gas key indicator datasets. The position requires a person with analytical and research skills, along with the ability to think strategically. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to grasp technical issues, analyse different policy scenarios (especially energy, oil and gas, and climate scenarios) and translate them into simple strategic recommendations.
Major Responsibilities
In-house data stewardship & analysis:
- Assist in the development of SFF’s in-house data analysis capabilities and perform sound research and analysis, including production of original material based on robust analysis.
- Annual collection, collating, analysis and presentation of community funding data, along with ad-hoc requests for deep dive analysis from the wider community.
- Working with the Strategy Director, analyse annual philanthropic grantmaking data focused on the energy transition and ensure alignment of analyses with other funder networks tracking grantmaking data.
- Contribute to global strategies to reduce climate emissions based on sound research and analysis.
Real world tracker data:
- Assist in the development of a dashboard tracking real-world indicators related to oil and gas across a range of sectors and themes, to provide an overview of the state of the energy transition and a sense of the direction of efforts to phase out oil and gas use and production, with the aim of informing the decision-making of grantmakers and civil society. This will include consolidating many individual tracking approaches across a range of metrics held by numerous organizations.
- Address the issue of multiple taxonomies (leading to varying conclusions and strategies) while also identifying key indicator gaps.
Candidate Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum 4-5 years of relevant professional experience working on technical issues in the environmental or energy sectors, a research institution or similar.
- Have strong analytical skills, an excellent knowledge of Excel (experience in database management, data analysis).
- The ability to write in English fluently, accurately and concisely.
- The ability to critically analyse documents, models and projects performed by others, extracting main conclusions, research assumptions and political implications.
- Project management experience and an ability to deliver to tight deadlines and to successfully follow projects performed by third parties (mostly consultants).
Preferred (but not required):
- Deep knowledge of energy systems, climate change, fossil fuels, and gas in particular.
- Experience with a range of energy-related data sources including experience with subscription databases & analytical tools.
Location: Location flexible for the right candidate. Given the global scope of the role, candidates must be willing to work flexible hours depending on location.
Term, salary, and benefits: Generous salary and benefits package in line with experience. Initial one-year contract with potential for renewal. 80,000-90,000USD with healthcare on top if based in the US, adjusted for the market, and adjusted for experience.
