Are you a CIPD qualified HR Officer / Advisor? Would you like to work with a youth focussed charity and be an integral part of their small HR team?
The HR Advisor will primarily be supporting the HR Manager with onboarding, recruitment and providing generalist HR advice to line managers. You will be the first point of contact for all HR queries and will provide initial support and guidance.
You will play a pivotal role in evolving HR policies and initiatives within the charity and will be the “go to” person for onboarding, recruitment, interviews and shortlisting frameworks ensuring compliance with operational policies and supporting on all HR projects.
Essential skills are:
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently at all levels including senior management - both verbally and in writing
- Experience in advising managers on recruitment matters
- Experience of equal opportunities monitoring for recruitment purposes
- Experience of managing and understanding data protection and processing confidential information with discretion and integrity
- Customer focused and able to anticipate and resolve problems before they arise

About this job
This is an exciting opportunity to help the MS Society secure tangible changes for people with MS. Reporting to the Policy Manager (Welfare and Technology), you will lead on high profile policy issues across welfare and employment that affect people with MS.
You will ensure that our policy work is built around strong evidence and is informed by and developed with people affected by MS and relevant professionals.
Working closely with colleagues in External Relations, Communications & Campaigns you will play a key role in building effective campaigns and influencing programmes around key issues facing people with the condition.
You’ll have experience of working in a lobbying or campaigning role or a busy political environment and a proven track record of influencing others, ideally in a welfare and/or employment policy/practice context.
You’ll have a detailed understanding of the policy making processes that surround welfare, excellent analytical skills and the ability to present complex information at senior levels.
You will be joining the Society at an exciting stage of its development and this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive and friendly team.

How you can make the difference:
- Remain up-to-date with science and evidence base for poultry.
- Conduct extensive research into the scientific literature and corporate data relating to animal agriculture systems and industries.
- Produce animal welfare education materials for Open Wing Alliance (OWA) members to utilise and share with the animal agriculture industry to support higher welfare initiatives.
- Supporting campaign groups that are working with major food companies to advance protections for farmed animals within their supply chains.
- Produce referenced supporting documentation for our policies on farm animal welfare and deliver presentations on the science behind these policies.
- Professional communication with the animal agriculture industry and when needed corporate executives.
- Travelling domestically and internationally to meet with companies when required.
- Working cohesively with team members intra- and inter-departmentally to coordinate on strategic initiatives.
- Working closely with OWA members to support them and coordinate on strategic initiatives.
- Track industry progress, working closely with other welfare specialists when required.
- Attend conferences and support OWA members at corporate meetings when required.
