This role is an integral part of the day-to-day delivery of our Advice and Support Service, which has been re-shaped and is due to go live in the summer of 2024. The service is targeted at older people in or facing financial hardship, and provides information, advice and follow up support relating to a range of issues, including Welfare Benefits, Social Care and Housing.
As a Generalist Adviser you will be responsible for supporting older people, their families and carers through our duty service with their welfare benefits and housing and other issues relating to financial hardship in later life.
You should have a good level of knowledge of welfare benefits, social care and housing as well as experience of working within a high-volume advice service, ideally a telephone-based service.

Particular focuses in the short-term will include supporting managers to resolve a range of ER issues cases such as performance and sickness absence, updating a suite of HR policies, supporting the development of a new performance framework and reward and recognition framework, looking at current recruitment practices, particularly through an EDI lens, supporting the development of wellbeing initiatives, exploring opportunities to increase usage and impact from the HRIS, and lots more!
This role will suit a proactive HR professional with a proven and demonstrable breadth of generalist HR advisory experience and knowledge spanning the full employee lifecycle and HR remit. Importantly, my client is looking for a self-starter with a flexible and adaptable approach to tackling what needs to be done, and who thrives in a fast-moving, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will also enjoy using their initiative to identify opportunities and drive improvements in HR processes, practices and impacts, and also bring a very hands-on approach to getting things done.

You will provide generalist level advice and casework focused on welfare benefits, housing and energy as well as offering non-monetary debt advice about priority debts and budgeting.
You’ll help people to understand their rights and responsibilities by exploring their problems in depth. You'll proactively encourage clients to take responsibility for completing actions to resolve problems themselves. Taking responsibility for cases and advocating on behalf of clients where appropriate.
You’ll work closely with our key partners across North Lincolnshire within the statutory and voluntary and community sectors and ensure clients receive a good quality and holistic service that supports individuals to remove the financial and psychological barriers to achieving positive outcomes and build resilience for the future.
This role is offered both on a trainee and a qualified basis. For the trainee position we’re not necessarily looking for someone who has previous experience working within the advice sector, as long as you’re empathetic and able to provide person-centred support in a non-judgemental way we can provide full training.

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to play a key role in our Operations team, delivering a professional and effective HR service to IPPR staff (approx. 50 employees). This is a true HR generalist role and you will take responsibility for managing the organisation’s HR function at both an operational and strategic level. In addition to managing IPPR’s day to day HR needs, you will take responsibility for areas such as recruitment and selection, performance management, payroll and employee relations, and you will support the Institute to deliver its strategic priorities while maintaining progressive working practices.
To be successful in this role you will be CIPD qualified and have proven experience of working in a generalist HR role at a senior level. With proven commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, you will have good knowledge of current UK employment legislation and HR best practice, and experience of managing and implementing HR policies, procedures and processes.
You will be competent at managing a busy and varied workload and able to play a hands on role, applying your excellent HR administration and organisational skills. You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills that will enable you to deal with sensitive issues and manage internal and external relationships. You will be comfortable seeking new approaches to problems to ensure our HR function is as effective as it can be.
