Summary of the role:
This role will provide day-to-day administrative support and project support to the department head and the overall team to ensure the successful delivery of the organisation’s operations in an efficient manner. This role will focus on generating reports, tracking progress, and ensuring all the necessary processes relating to compliance, finance and HR are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
About the Role:
- Develop a thorough understanding of Muslim Aid’s work areas in order to ensure strategic linkages / appropriate dissemination of information or assignment of actions.
- Develop, maintain and review administrative systems to achieve maximum efficiency and to have high-level exposure across the organisation including admin, finance, IT, HR, supporter services, IP, comms etc.
- Prepare purchase orders and document payments according to Muslim Aid’s financial procedure and in conjunction with the Finance team to ensure speedy payment of invoices for internal / external stakeholders.
- Assist the Head of Income Generation and Marketing with the preparation of PowerPoint presentations, documents, briefing papers, action points and reports as requested and to track work across all relevant departments to ensure the nominated Manager undertakes action within the agreed timeframe.
- Provide administrative support to Head of Income Generation and Marketing in preparing and drafting correspondence, booking meetings, minute-taking, planning and supporting events, organising travel and preparing travel itineraries and relevant tasks as required by the Head of Income Generation and Marketing.
- Be the gatekeeper and first point of contact to stakeholders, assessing priorities, redirecting calls, enquiries, and face to face meeting appointments.

SPANA - The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad is the global charity for working animals in low-income countries. The Head of Global Operations is a key member of the Global Resources Team, responsible for professional business support at both a strategic and an operational level across the organisation. Day-to-day financial management of the charity and its Trading subsidiary including, but not limited to:

Process all day-to-day transactions on the finance system, Xero, including income received from fundraising platforms, ensuring a full audit trail of data processing.

Complete daily bank reconciliations for all entities, including recording and banking cheques and processing petty cash.

Raise sales invoices as requested, following procedures to set up in customer systems, and follow up with customers to ensure timely payment.

Process purchase invoices and expense claims, ensuring appropriate authorisation, in line with delegated authorisations.

Set up weekly payment runs for approval by the Head of Finance.

Monitor all financial processes, ensuring finance policies are complied with and deadlines are met, including electronic and physical filing of finance and legal documents.

Complete month end tasks, enabling to the Head of Finance to close the month, including selected balance sheet reconciliations.

Keep Gift Aid records up-to-date and assist the Head of Finance with the preparation of Gift Aid claims.

40% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave primary school in England each year unable to read to the expected standard - many of these children fall behind with reading simply because they lack the opportunity to practise.
Chapter One is a small but growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3,300 children in 2024-25.
Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.
This role is an exciting opportunity for someone to contribute to the work of our fast-growing charity. You will work as part of the Chapter One Support Team, ensuring that volunteers have everything that they need to make a success of their reading sessions with pupils. You will be the first point of contact for our volunteers, so excellent customer service skills and a genuine interest in helping others is essential.
Reporting to the Performance and Data Manager, you will work for 25-30 hours a week (Monday to Friday) and will need to be available for an 09:30 am start each morning. You will work remotely and will need to have access to a reliable internet connection. The start date for this role is 1st July 2024.

Official Job Title: Early Literacy Interventionist

38% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave primary school in England each year unable to read to the expected standard. Chapter One is a fast-growing charity, with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills they need to thrive. We work to ensure that all children have 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.
Our Early Literacy Intervention (ELI) programme (based on a model that serves 20,000 children successfully in the USA) provides daily, 1:1, 7 minute phonics sessions for children who are behind in phonics. Using a bespoke technology tool, a trained Early Literacy Interventionist works individually with target children.
We are seeking a part-time Early Literacy Interventionist (ELI), based at Galleywall Primary School in Southwark, South London. This ELI role, reporting to the Schools Development Manager, is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop and grow their knowledge of phonics and/or their teaching skill set. It is ideal for someone with previous school experience who is looking for a new and exciting challenge.
For your caseload of target children, you will conduct an initial baseline assessment and then deliver differentiated, 1:1, targeted, 7 minute phonics sessions to pupils using a systematic, synthetic approach. Although you are employed by Chapter One, you will work closely with the school team to understand the progression of the school’s phonics teaching; establish tailored plans for each child and feedback on pupil progress. Using your knowledge and insight, you will also collaborate with colleagues at Chapter One to further improve the ELI model, the online tool and programme delivery.
