Job description

For the past 25 years, Refugee Survival Trust has existed to support Refugees and Asylum seekers seeking safety in Scotland to find a route out of poverty and connect with other people within the community. Hundreds of people seeking asylum and refuge in Scotland face extreme poverty, destitution, and homelessness as they struggle to support themselves and their families. This incredible small charity has a vision of a welcoming, inclusive, safe Scotland for refugees and asylum seekers, where all live free of destitution and have the means and opportunities to realise their full potential and help over 2000 people every year.

Many Refugees cannot return home or are afraid to do so due to war, tribal and religious violence, and often experience feelings of pain, struggle, and hopelessness. Being at risk of extreme poverty, homelessness, trafficking, and modern slavery can result in mental, physical, and emotional trauma. RST provides emergency grants for asylum seekers facing homelessness and extreme poverty, travel grants, and bus passes for women seeking asylum who are heavily pregnant or have recently had a baby. In addition to this, RST supports refugees to access education and employment and provides temporary community accommodation for those who would otherwise be homeless, and provide trauma-informed support.

Refugee Survival Trust needs a Grants and Trusts Fundraiser to join them to focus on securing funds and ensuring the sustainability of the charity. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for the developing and implementing the fundraising plan, including digital campaigns, and contributing to our overall fundraising strategy. You will build relationships, write compelling funding applications, create campaigns, and come up with new and innovative ideas to capture the minds and hearts of potential philanthropists. Growing and cultivating relationships with funders and increasing the charity's presence is a vital part of this role.

The successful candidate will have significant experience of successful trusts and grants fundraising and a track record of designing and delivering successful online fundraising campaigns with substantial digital fundraising or digital marketing experience. You will have exceptional writing skills to engage, influence, and secure funding with the ability to identify, create and edit strong fundraising content. You will possess organisational and project management skills with the ability to maintain clear, accurate records, have excellent time management, and the ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities. The appointed Grants and Trust Fundraiser will be target-driven and results orientated with an ambitious resilient approach. Joining an inclusive environment, you will be a collaborative worker who is self-motivated, proactive, and be able to work autonomously.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an independent, driven, and creative individual to join a small, committed team who deliver incredible impact. If you have a great work ethic and share this charity's values, then please consider this as your next career move.
