The Role
To help us fulfill our mission, we seek Grants Officers, who will oversee complex strategic grantmaking activity, triage, monitoring and compliance, and clearance of conflicts of interest, sanctions, and data privacy. They will also support with managing urgent leadership directed grants where necessary.
Key Responsibilities
As Grants Officer, you will report to the Associate Director, Grants Management and be responsible for:
- Contributing to annual planning for US-based entities, forecasting resource allocation needs throughout the year.
- Leading grant closeout procedures, overseeing the collection of overdue reports for all grants funded by US-based entities, conducting FPR, OSI, OSPC processes. Manage the completion of the Grant Closure Project, identifying obstacles to report collection and establishing standard procedures for closing grants, including those for US-based funded programmatic units.
- Coordinating with Finance, Accounting & Compliance teams for audits of Open Society's US-based entities, as well as the preparation of annual tax filings and financial statements.
- Managing departmental budget, retreat/meeting schedules, and professional development opportunities.
- Conducting pre-award/post-award due diligence to ensure grants align with US-based entities' funding requirements and foundation policies.
- Facilitating internal audits for the Grants Management department.
- Collaborating with opportunities/programs colleagues to ensure timely and efficient proposal compliance review, grant award structuring, issuance of grant letters, payments and amendments, and grant closeout reviews.
- Providing comprehensive education and training on grant award compliance, grantmaking processes, Foundation Connect, GrantSmith, and Analytics Studio within the department and to colleagues across Open Society.
- Serving as a resource for Grants Assistants and other Grants Management colleagues, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
- Assisting in Grants Management processes related to equivalency determination, expenditure responsibility, OFAC compliance, COI compliance, and data privacy.
- Ensuring data integrity in the grantmaking system and provide reporting and analysis.
- Monitoring grant payment schedules and program budgets, ensuring financial efficiency.
- Liaising with Communications, Finance, GARA, Information Technology, the Office of General Council, outside organizations, and/or affinity groups on matters of mutual interest.
- Developing, documenting, revising, and implementing Grants Management policies, procedures, documents, templates, and multimedia materials.
- Representing Grants Management in cross-departmental staff meetings, workshops, retreats, and working groups.
- Supporting internal Grants Management operations and contribute to special projects as needed.

Experience
The ideal candidate must have a University Degree (BA or Bsc) and have the following experience and competencies:
- Extensive career experience within a large and complex non-profit organization.
- Previous working experience in individual grantmaking.
- Deep understanding and vision of how grantmaking aligns with programmatic strategy complemented by effective grantmaking practices.

Media Defence is a charity that helps journalists defend their rights. We support independent media, journalists and bloggers who are under legal threat by making sure that lawyers are available to defend them. We engage in strategic litigation to improve the regulatory environment for media freedom, make grants to organisations in various countries to run media defence programmes, support individual journalists facing legal action by covering their lawyers' fees, and build the capacity of the lawyers and organisations we work with on issues of media law. Media Defence was set up in 2008 and has established itself as a leader in the field.
Role Summary
The Grants Officer plays a key role at Media Defence, administering the grants that Media Defence makes to partner organisations, helping assess grant applications, and helping with communications via social media and through other channels.
As Grants Officer, you will also manage and administer Media Defence’s financial grants and non-financial support to journalists facing legal action and identify new potential grantees.
You will be flexible and creative, have exceptional communication skills and a good understanding of the realities faced by lawyers and journalists operating in various regions of the world, including under repressive regimes.
Main Responsibilities
Grants Management:
- Manage Media Defence’s grant support work
- Manage Media Defence’s block grant and individual emergency defence grant application processes, including assessment of applications and project proposals, proposal development, preparation of final recommendation for approval by Board and others
- Manage grant award process, including contracting, setting of KPIs and reporting requirements
- Monitoring of awarded grants, including tracking developments in litigation, assessment of partner/grantee reports and grant compliance; financial oversight of grants and grant budgets; provision of additional support as may be required by grantees
- Ensure smooth running of Media Defence’s grant making and administration of Media Defence’s grants database
- Act as lead contact in relationships with grantees throughout the process

As a charity and grant-maker, we do this by funding research and projects, as well as education and hardship, which support nurses, midwives and Health Care Support Workers (HCSW) to innovate, progress their careers and get through tough times.
As the Foundation’s Grants Officer you will work with the Benevolent Service Team to assess hardship grant applications and agreeing grants with the Benevolent Grant Manager deliver and to deliver a first-class benevolent grants and signposting service at the RCN Foundation. The service is bespoke to the nursing and midwifery profession, and this role is essential in making key decisions relating to our grant making activity to individuals in need.
In this varied role every day will be filled with possibilities. You will use the online application portal on the CMS to manage all grant applications. You will also provide support to individuals through the relevant and comprehensive signposting hub, which is kept up-to-date and is tailored to the needs of the nursing and midwifery professions

The Role
Reporting into the Funding and Innovation Manager you will lead on contract management, oversight and monitoring and evaluation of our grants and crowdfunding programmes to community groups and customers, with a value of over £350,000 a year. You will be a great communicator and will ensure a high-quality service for applicants and awardees and will track our social impact through robust monitoring.
Responsibilities include:
- Assessing funding applications received, undertaking due diligence and make recommendations to the grants panel.
- Producing high-quality documentation for all panel meetings including providing the panel with accurate and timely data to support decision-making.
- Effectively manage contractors for our grant's programmes including Community Grants, Employment and Skills and grants for customers.
- Deliver a good user experience for grant applicants and awardees and ensure there is consistency across grant programmes.

All Ways Network (AWN) inception back in 2017 began from it’s very first event, Meet the Funders. Since October 2018 they became a registered charity (1180445) working to make the landscape for UK based Muslim and non-Muslim led not-for-profits (NFPs) with an annual income of £1 million or less, an easier one to navigate by empowering and strengthening their individual capacities to achieve funding.
They assist NFPs working in various programme areas including, but not exclusively in homelessness, domestic violence & abuse, alcohol & drugs misuse, community empowerment/cohesion, women’s empowerment, youth work, older people, prisoners and ex-offenders etc.
Prospectus is delighted to be working with AWN to recruit a new Grants Manager (12 month contract) to join the team on a 4 day working week (Mon to Thurs).
The Grants Officer will create a positive impact on Muslim communities living in the UK by supporting the distribution of grant funding delivery. Working with the Trustees and the wider Team, you will ensure they deliver the best possible support and guidance consistently. ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Fundraising Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the Income and Partnerships Development team. This person will be reporting to the Head of Partnerships and will coordinate all fundraising activities and volunteers from our alumni, sponsor firms and SEO London supporters. This will be a hands-on role that includes project management, teamwork, reporting and a proactive approach to fundraising initiatives. Additionally, responsibilities include the preparation of cases for support for funding applications and providing guidance for proposal drafting. Furthermore, the role involves maintaining and reporting on funding requirements, encompassing impact reports, milestones, and renewals.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Further Develop and Implement Fundraising Strategies: Work closely with the Head of Partnerships to further develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies. Execute fundraising plans to achieve income targets and ensure long-term sustainability.
- Grant Writing and Proposal Development: Research and identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, government organisations and other donor oganisations. Prepare grant expressions of interest, proposals and applications that effectively communicate the need for our work and SEO London’s mission, programmes, and impact.
- Fundraising Events Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, including F1 challenges, Royal Parks Half Marathon and any other fundraising activities. Oversee all aspects of event logistics, marketing, sponsorship, and volunteer coordination.
- Fundraising Volunteers Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of volunteer interactions and contributions using excel and other tools. Volunteers to include sponsor firm reps, alumni, our students and other SEO London supporters. Generate reports and analytics to track fundraising progress and campaign effectiveness.
- Reporting: Maintain meticulous records of all funder reporting obligations and milestones, ensuring accurate documentation and timely submissions of reports. Accurately recording and tracking donor contributions, pledges, and grants received.
- Marketing and communication: Work closely with the marketing and communication team to raise awareness of fundraising activities through campaigns on social media and other marketing campaigns.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with programmes leads, finance team, marketing and alumni team, to engage firm volunteers, alumni, students and SEO London staff to have a big splash as to our fundraising activity.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, business administration, or a related field.
Candidates without a degree will be considered if they have at least 2 years relevant and relatable work experience in a similar role.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for applicants who have at least 2 years demonstrable experience in some of the following areas and will be willing to learn and develop others:
- Experience in fundraising, grant writing or related roles within the nonprofit sector.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.

We are currently recruiting a Grants and Community Officer, which is an exciting role with the community driven charitable foundation of a globally renowned sporting event.
This charitable foundation provides grants and works with charity partners to provide opportunities and positive development for people from disadvantaged communities, tackling social issues, mental health, active lives and using the power of sport to develop life skills for young people. The Foundation continues to grow and last year awarded over £3.3m in grants and donations to more than 100 charitable organisations. It has a rich selection of programmes, including core-cost and multi-year partnerships which support needs locally, nationally, and internationally, with a focus on the community based in South West London in particular.
The role:
The Grants and Community Officer is a key member of the Foundation team who will be responsible for managing a portfolio of grants, including some of the Foundation’s multi-year funds. The Grants and Community Officer will establish and maintain strong relationships with its charity partners and support the delivery of a Funder Plus suite of support.
In addition, this person will support with the development and implementation of new grant processes, and grant schemes as required to support the growth of the Foundation and respond to the needs of our communities and produce high quality monitoring and impact reports for a range of audiences. This person will also ensure the smooth running and maintenance of the grant management database.
An interesting aspect of this important role is that you will build up a network of contacts at charitable organisations and local stakeholders and be an external representative of the Foundation locally in Merton and Wandsworth. The person:
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience within a grant making environment, including a track record of administering grants. This person will also have a strong understanding of what it takes to build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders including voluntary sector organisations, community groups and peer funders. Excellent interpersonal skills, an effective communicator with outstanding written skills, this person will be comfortable operating within both community and corporate settings. As part of GCT’s Programmes team, you will work closely with the Senior Development Manager (SDM) to secure grant funding from trusts and foundations across our programme portfolio (including island restoration, community & nature, ocean protection and plastic pollution topics), with an increasing focus on securing multi-year funding to embed sustainability in our programme delivery.
