POSITION OVERVIEW
The Impact Evaluation & Fundraising Manager is essential to delivering The Avenues Youth Project’s (AYP) financial targets by writing bids, measuring the impact of our work, and reporting back to funders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with the Chief Executive and Grants Funding Manager to match potential funders to forthcoming programmes.

Write applications to a selection of potential funders, developing relationships with grants managers.

Understand and communicate SLAs and design relevant data capture with our Programme Team.

Schedule all reporting requirements and ensure that donors are communicated with in a timely way, using their preferred methods.

Design data collection tools such as questionnaires, write and update monitoring and evaluation resources for our youth work team.

Analyse data and write into easy-to-understand reports.

Participate in budget meetings with the Programme Team and Finance Manager to ensure programme budgets are met.

Develop strong relationships with our partner organisations, collaborating on shared projects and attending meetings.

Take the lead role in ensuring the youthwork database (Plinth) is maintained and kept up to date, and reports are produced for CE and trustees.

Support the Fundraising Team on fundraising activities where necessary.
The job is not limited to the above duties, as the organisation develops and at different times of the year the priorities may shift leading to additional reasonable responsibilities as the role requires.

The Role
To help us fulfill our mission, we seek Grants Officers, who will oversee complex strategic grantmaking activity, triage, monitoring and compliance, and clearance of conflicts of interest, sanctions, and data privacy. They will also support with managing urgent leadership directed grants where necessary.
Key Responsibilities
As Grants Officer, you will report to the Associate Director, Grants Management and be responsible for:
- Contributing to annual planning for US-based entities, forecasting resource allocation needs throughout the year.
- Leading grant closeout procedures, overseeing the collection of overdue reports for all grants funded by US-based entities, conducting FPR, OSI, OSPC processes. Manage the completion of the Grant Closure Project, identifying obstacles to report collection and establishing standard procedures for closing grants, including those for US-based funded programmatic units.
- Coordinating with Finance, Accounting & Compliance teams for audits of Open Society's US-based entities, as well as the preparation of annual tax filings and financial statements.
- Managing departmental budget, retreat/meeting schedules, and professional development opportunities.
- Conducting pre-award/post-award due diligence to ensure grants align with US-based entities' funding requirements and foundation policies.
- Facilitating internal audits for the Grants Management department.
- Collaborating with opportunities/programs colleagues to ensure timely and efficient proposal compliance review, grant award structuring, issuance of grant letters, payments and amendments, and grant closeout reviews.
- Providing comprehensive education and training on grant award compliance, grantmaking processes, Foundation Connect, GrantSmith, and Analytics Studio within the department and to colleagues across Open Society.
- Serving as a resource for Grants Assistants and other Grants Management colleagues, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
- Assisting in Grants Management processes related to equivalency determination, expenditure responsibility, OFAC compliance, COI compliance, and data privacy.
- Ensuring data integrity in the grantmaking system and provide reporting and analysis.
- Monitoring grant payment schedules and program budgets, ensuring financial efficiency.
- Liaising with Communications, Finance, GARA, Information Technology, the Office of General Council, outside organizations, and/or affinity groups on matters of mutual interest.
- Developing, documenting, revising, and implementing Grants Management policies, procedures, documents, templates, and multimedia materials.

The ideal candidate must have a University Degree (BA or Bsc) and have the following experience and competencies:

- Grant Writing and Proposal Development: Research and identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, government organisations and other donor oganisations. - Fundraising Events Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, including F1 challenges, Royal Parks Half Marathon and any other fundraising activities. Oversee all aspects of event logistics, marketing, sponsorship, and volunteer coordination.
- Fundraising Volunteers Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of volunteer interactions and contributions using excel and other tools. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Fundraising Manager (Grants and Trusts)
Working closely with the Chief Executive, the Fundraising Manager will help secure and sustain existing and new grant income streams from trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, statutory bodies, and other local or national funders. We manage two open access application programmes in Buckinghamshire and a wider UK programme of grant-making where we pro-actively identify organisations to work with in our areas of interest. These include culture and regenerative food systems, connecting with activity at Waddesdon Manor and Estate, the home of the Foundation. The Grants Manager role will have a particular focus on our regenerative food and farming programme, where we are funding direct delivery organisations, as well as convening stakeholders and other funders championing a sustainable approach.
We aim to be an approachable funder focused on developing strong relationships with the organisations that we fund. A big part of the role will be developing relationships with a wide range of third sector organisations and supporting them to deliver effective approaches to community needs and issues within our areas of interest.
We value the balance in our funding approach of flexibly responding to local need alongside a deep dive into the specific interests of Trustees. This combination makes the Foundation an interesting and progressive place to work and we welcome individuals with a flexible and creative approach. The current annual budget for our grants programmes is approx. £8M.
We are very happy to be able to offer flexible working with the option of part remote and part office based. Currently we ask the team to be office based on Wednesdays and as a Grants Manager we’d expect other working days to include a mixture of visiting applicants and grantees and working from home. Given the nature of our work this may be subject to change but we will always do our best to offer a working pattern that balances your needs and the needs of the Foundation.

Key Responsibilities:
Grant Programme Management
- Developing opportunities for funding by identifying and visiting applicants, supporting them to work up proposals and ensuring they meet our due diligence requirements.
- Building effective relationships with applicants and grantees, including providing constructive feedback on applications and monitoring funded activity.
- Managing external consultants and contacts in the community who are responsible for delivering projects or coordinating networks which further our ambitions in regenerative food and farming.
- Working with the Grants Team to undertake research and keep up to date with developments in the current areas of interest and future interests of Trustees, helping develop current programmes and shape future strategy. This ideally will include some understanding of regenerative food and farming systems and identifying effective organisations and approaches to support.
- Supporting evaluation of the Foundation’s grants programmes and working with the team’s Evaluation and Impact Manager (to be appointed) to develop our approach to measuring and sharing impact. This will include use of our newly developed theory of change, reviewing grantee reports and collated data.
- Producing updates for Trustees on strategic progress, including project updates and some data analysis, as well as thinking about other creative ways to tell the stories of our funding.
Networking and Advocacy
- Working closely with staff at Waddesdon Manor and on the Waddesdon Estate.
- Representing the Foundation at relevant events, networks and groups, such as the Buckinghamshire Rural Forum, Natural Environment Partnership and Bucks Funders Group which may include occasional evening events.
- Devising and delivering ways to increase the reach and accessibility of our grant-making.
Communications
- Working with the Grants Team on the Foundation’s annual grants review, website, newsletter and social media.
Special Projects
- Project management support for internally managed projects such as research and events.
IT
- Working with the Foundation’s IT systems (including Microsoft Office suite, Blackbaud database and SharePoint). We are able to offer training in Blackbaud, and SharePoint if needed and are open to discussing other training needs.
All Ways Network (AWN) inception back in 2017 began from it’s very first event, Meet the Funders. Since October 2018 they became a registered charity (1180445) working to make the landscape for UK based Muslim and non-Muslim led not-for-profits (NFPs) with an annual income of £1 million or less, an easier one to navigate by empowering and strengthening their individual capacities to achieve funding.
They assist NFPs working in various programme areas including, but not exclusively in homelessness, domestic violence & abuse, alcohol & drugs misuse, community empowerment/cohesion, women’s empowerment, youth work, older people, prisoners and ex-offenders etc.
Prospectus is delighted to be working with AWN to recruit a new Grants Manager (12 month contract) to join the team on a 4 day working week (Mon to Thurs).
The Grants Officer will create a positive impact on Muslim communities living in the UK by supporting the distribution of grant funding delivery. Working with the Trustees and the wider Team, you will ensure they deliver the best possible support and guidance consistently. This will involve being part of creating and perfecting sound grant-making processes, leading on outreach to under-served communities and guiding them through applications, selection, awarding, distribution and monitoring and evaluating outcomes with relevant departments. This role will also assist the Communication Officer in the development of marketing and communications materials, including the identification of grantees to spotlight through digital storytelling and sharing content that can be used to promote the impact of the charity’s work through social media channels and events to showcase work where applicable. There will also be work around creating partnerships with other funders, representing AWN at events and conferences and ensuring market intelligence is shared with the wider team to constantly improve the support they offer to grantees.

Account Management
