Bexley Food Alliance Project Coordinator

The Bexley Food Alliance is a new network which was funded by the GLA to work towards taking pressure off the emergency food aid services and providing increased financial support to Bexley residents. This network has now expanded and aims to build a collaborative network of agencies that can increase fairer access to healthy, nutritious and culturally appropriate food, as well as any additional support residents might need. We are looking for a Project Coordinator to take over the day-to-day running of this network (see below for a brief description). This is a good opportunity for anyone who wants to take on a part-time, one-year project, perhaps as a stepping stone into something more significant, or perhaps you’re returning to work or changing careers. This is an opportunity to be at the start of an exciting, innovative partnership project, shaping a network and forming strong alliances with various agencies. 

You will work closely with the VCS within Bexley to build the capacity and capabilities of local groups, provide partnership/networking opportunities that enable them to carry out their own objectives effectively and offer high quality services.

You will work flexibly, applying initiative to provide consistent and seamless support to organisations.  You will support across a variety of charity development but focus on food partnerships and wraparound support to provide more holistic support.

Key Duties:

• Build and promote positive working relationships between VCS groups and organisations, statutory partners, commissioners and funders.
• Work with a wide range of delivery partners and other key stakeholders to maximise the use of community resources and ensure opportunities are maximised.
• Undertake community and outreach work – particularly to parts of the borough where the VCS voice is less heard.
• Encourage and support groups to seek funding from a range of sources including contracts and grants and provide the necessary support.
• Use our database to keep well maintained records of support given, funding achieved as a result of our support, case studies and outcomes, brief summary reports for monitoring and development purposes.
• To continuously engage in a mapping process, highlighting existing providers and supporting the start-up of new services.
• To organise and facilitate network meetings bringing organisations together to tackle food poverty and offer increased support with additional needs such as financial, physical and mental health wellbeing.
• To build relationships with various organisations, offering diverse support to increase collaboration, new offers and increased support.
• To work closely with the Local Authority to support policy change.
• To build relationships and network outside of the borough to bring in good practice and successful initiatives.
• To attend any relevant training and/or workshops that support the development of the network.
• To increase knowledge and understanding of food poverty and the cost-of-living crisis in general as well as grants and funding opportunities.

These are the normal duties which are required of the position; however, we do require that all staff be flexible and may be required to perform other duties to ensure the efficient running of services. 

Please note that the base for this role is split between the Engine House, Bexley, and Bexley Civic Offices. In addition, the post will involve occasional working from various venues across the borough.

C4WS Welfare Coordinator Advert 2024:

C4WS Homeless Project (registered charity, no 1189622) which provides support to people experiencing homelessness year-round, through a well-established winter night shelter in Camden, a lunchtime club, Jobs Club, mentoring scheme, hosting scheme and various other activities. We are passionate about helping people rebuild their lives after homelessness and working towards living independently.

What We Do:

Every winter, we work with a number of churches in the London Borough of Camden who offer their venues to us to run a night shelter. We operate from a different venue every night of the week, and run one circuit, accommodating 16 guests.

We provide camp beds and offer a hot evening meal. Our guests leave in the morning after a hot breakfast, ready to attend activities and meetings in our offices in Euston.

Advice and Support

Whilst the shelter operates seasonally, every winter, our team works year round, dedicated to offering advice, advocacy and practical support. This can be accessed by former night shelter guests, and via our weekly drop in, Friday Club. Guests can also access other services provided by C4WS including lunch, laundry and showers.

The Role:

Our small, dedicated team is looking for a Welfare Coordinator, to deliver holistic welfare support to all those who access our services. You will work alongside another member of the team to ensure that guests are supported both during and after their stay in the C4WS night shelter to ensure the stability of their move on.

You will possess a passion for working in the homeless sector, supporting those experiencing homelessness to rebuild their lives and ideally have direct and relevant experience of working with this demographic, or similarly vulnerable and/or disadvantaged groups.

As well as providing Welfare Support, you will also be a presence at the shelter for up to two evenings a week during the shelter season (November – March) including weekends, and you will need to lead a team of volunteers to ensure the safe running of the shelter on those occasions.

C4WS is a small charity, that delivers an outstanding service to those who access our support. It is thanks to a wide network of referral partners, corporate and individual volunteers, plus the support of several religious communities in Camden, who we have worked with over the last 20 years, that we can have such a positive impact on a person’s life. Office Coordinator (Maternity Cover)

The Office Coordinator position is responsible for the general day-to-day operations of the London, UK office.  Due to the nature of this position, work must generally be performed within a 30 hours / week timeframe (M-Fri). This role is an in-office role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties upon request:

· General administration as required: call handling and forwarding, front door access controls, post management, post requests, staff access, etc.

· Support of facilities management: oversight of cleaning and maintenance contractors, management of office supplies and procurement, equipment maintenance requests, liaison with building management.

· Facilitating work from home set-ups and procurement and coordinating distribution to personnel as requested.

Job Summary:

As Net Zero Carbon Statutory Fundraising Coordinator, you will work in The Giving Directorate and operate across the whole Church with a focus on supporting parishes and dioceses to access statutory funds. You will share your knowledge and insight to support with identifying, researching and applying to funding from a range of government sources. You will develop and maintain resources, guidance and training and help share best practice across the country, as well as working with regional fundraisers. Main responsibilities

• Develop a national plan to secure statutory funding at parish and diocesan level
• Acting as a central point of coordination between the schools, housing and parish fundraising workstreams to oversee statutory funding
• Working specifically with the Regional Fundraising Officer in the north west cluster of dioceses to identify and support applications to statutory funding sources by parishes
• Working with Net Zero Implementation Manager to support statutory funding applications for clergy housing
• Building capacity in dioceses to support senior staff (incl. Bishops) to use their networks to identify relevant statutory funding opportunities (e.g. mayors, local council leadership, police and crime commissioners etc)
• Supporting dioceses to think creatively about packaging projects up a) between parishes, b) between parishes, schools and clergy housing, c) across deaneries.
• Leading consortia of dioceses to apply for funding if available and supporting applications
• Building a hub of best practice and shared learning which will include designing and delivering training to staff and volunteers at all levels
• Sharing statutory funding opportunities across the Church of England, Net Zero Carbon, Giving, and Fundraising networks and with Cathedrals

The ideal candidate:

To be successful, you will need experience of securing statutory funding for projects and of other aspects of fundraising. You will need to be a very strong self-motivator and initiator as the job requires an ability to work across a wide geographical area on a diverse range of projects. Experience managing projects would also be useful. You will be an excellent trainer and communicator.

Due to the specialist nature of the roles within The Giving Directorate, training will be provided to successful candidates to enable them to carry out their role confidently.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Sport Team. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our Opportunities Programme as Sports Manager. In this role, you will play a vital role in overseeing our in-house and community-based Sport Project. Your aim: To help make physical activity accessible to those experiencing homelessness.

About the role:

As the Sports Manager, you will be responsible for The Sport Project. You will be overseeing the day to day running of the project and management of the team including Sports Coordinators, freelancers, volunteers, and peers. You will be leading on expanding the reach of the project, forming partnerships with like-minded organisation and charities and advocating for the importance of physical activity within the homeless sector.

In your role, you will also manage relationships for grant givers and funders, including being responsible for budgets, reporting and reconciliations. Additionally you will support the team in the wider role out of the project across the homelessness community, at time this may involve helping to deliver a proportion of physical activity and helping to engage wider groups of participants and staff.

The approach taken with clients will be psychologically informed, incorporating an understanding of complex trauma and addiction. The outcomes for your role, include developing positive and sustained relationships with external partners and helping to make physical activity accessible.

Responsibilities of the role

Co-ordinator – 70%

Day-to-day support across the charity including, but not limited to:

• Providing personal assistant support to the Director of the charity

• Support wider team with meeting bookings, arranging travel, charity guests, booking rooms etc.

• Support internal communications, ensuring good information dissemination and management.

• Improve internal onboarding processes, hold ownership over key GMSN starter assets (e.g. Organigram, joiners handbook)

• Look after shared email inboxes, ensuring all queries have an appropriate response in a timely manner.

• Support the team with basic finance reporting and updating trackers, including setting up and maintenance of a variety of fundraising platforms.

• Posting out materials and prizes, and hold ownership over the organisation of stock and materials in the storeroom.

• Liaising with charity supporters via email, phone and at Global, including the support line.

• Provide cover to the Finance and Grants Assistant in periods of absence (training will be provided)

• Support with fundraising and events teams in busy periods.

• Complete any ad-hoc tasks, as required.

Governance – 30%

• Co-ordinate diary entries for quarterly Trustee and Finance Committee meetings, prepare Board packs, attend meetings, take minutes and ensure minutes are distributed in a timely fashion.

• Ensure all Trustees are stewarded, inducted and supported in their role with the charity.

• Support the Head of Finance and Governance with relevant Trustee checks and forms, ensuring compliance with Companies House and Charities Commission.

• Ensure collection of annual related parties records and ensure all documentation is filed electronically.

• Collate monthly quarterly Global Board updates, liaising closely with SMT.

About this role

Better Cotton is now seeking a Social Impact Fundraiser who will help to drive revenue in support of the ongoing success and growth of Better Cotton globally. Better Cotton has set ambitious 2030 targets to improve the lives and livelihoods of cotton farmers. This role will be responsible for ensuring these ambitions are adequately resourced. You will work closely with relevant thematic leads and country teams for proposal design, coordination and reporting of funded projects. In addition to this, you will maintain and manage donor relationships. This post will report to the Programme Funding Manager with a matrix line to a Social Impact Manager. Responsibilities

Development of Social Impact Programmes

Participate in the development of thematic programmes that fulfil farmers’ needs while aligning with Better Cotton’s 2030 strategic goals:

• In close collaboration with Global Impact team and country teams support a programmatic co-creation process, that is marketable and fundable.
• Manage a coalition building phase of social impact donors and allies. This includes outreach to relevant stakeholders identified, pitching to prospective donors, creating fundraising materials.
• The Coordinator will likely manage individual donor relations, while also coordinating Social Impact Coalition Committees.

Fundraising efforts

• Manage relationships with donors/investors to increase success rate of applications and ensure continuous funding.
• Conduct research into funding opportunities for sustainable agriculture and livelihoods.
• Organize outreach efforts with new donors/investors strategically, sharing relevant material and/or pitching to prospective donors identified.
• Share interesting grant opportunities internally and assess feasibility, identify the project idea/concept to be developed and liaise with relevant teams internally.
• Lead the proposal development process. Work closely with other teams (Finance Team, MEL Team, country teams etc.) to support specific proposal development coordination tasks, such as developing proposal workplans, building budgets or logframes, writing non-technical sections, consolidating and editing written inputs, compiling annexes, writing narratives, collating information and other tasks as needed.

Better Cotton representation

• Represent Better Cotton and the programmes, when needed to present to donors and coordinate social impact funding panels.
• Where required represent programmes nationally and internationally through participation in relevant workshops and symposia and in collaboration with partners where fundraising or the potential for fundraising is deemed significant.
• Contribute to the development of programmatic documents, multimedia and publications for use in promotion of the work of the programmes. Ensuring the documentation reflects and is relevant to donor priorities.

Regional Youth Worker - London
Salary: £27,000
Location: Flexible, based at our office in Aldgate East, with travel throughout the London region and occasional remote working.

We are looking for an experienced Youth Worker, to deliver training sessions and projects to young people through youth centres, community groups, schools and alternative provisions across the London Region, and to ensure our programmes are fit for the future.
 

We are an award-winning national charity which trains over 9,500 young people affected by street violence each year in emergency first-aid through a team of 350 healthcare volunteers and youth workers. We empower young people with the skills to become part of the solution to violence by developing the skills and confidence to save lives and increasing their understanding of the medical and psychological consequences of violence.

As the StreetDoctors Youth Worker in the Region, you will deliver high quality training, develop new partnerships and maintain positive relationships.

The key areas of focus include:

● To deliver training sessions to young people and partners to required quantity and quality, and support the development, testing and implementation of new training content.

Our outstanding charity client is recruiting an Interim Head of Fundraising (Election).  This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in leading and managing their fundraising initiatives, helping them to build strong foundations for the future, liaising high-profile donors, and maximising on the increased profile and visibility they will have during this election year.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Working closely in a small and dedicated team, this is a critical position that will ensure the recruitment, engagement and progression of women who take part in our empowerment programmes. 

Location: SHED co-working space for 2 days a week or at venues in London for our core programme with women and option to work remotely 1 day a week

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure:

• Effective outreach for recruitment onto our programmes
• That women’s programmes run smoothly and that their participants are motivated and supported to complete them through to graduation
• That those women who require 1-1 time with you are provided with this to ensure their safety and to make any referrals to external agencies where required
• All those we work with for the benefit of women on the programmes are engaged eg. short work placement hosts, mentors and venues for activities
• That evaluation data is collected and provided to evaluators/ researchers who edit final annual reports for programmes

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Timetabling online and face-to-face outreach to ensure women are recruited onto programmes in a timely way
• Being the key safeguarding lead at Friday workshops and ensuring that you make 1-1 time for any women who require it (alerting the Head of Operations and People and the CEO and wider team any issues or concerns that need addressing)
• Liaising with the Programmes Coordinator on the timely production of workshop materials and any other course content useful for participants
• Maintaining excellent relationships with workshop providers
• Ensuring that the Programmes Coordinator is across needs for any 1-1 therapy referrals between women and our float of freelance therapists
• Conducting evaluation surveys with women at the start, end and 6 months after they graduate and ensuring all evaluation data is provided to the freelancer responsible for collating the impact of our programmes annually in a final report, as well as providing any data required by the CEO for grant reports
• Signing off on mentor-mentee matches with the Partnerships Manager who recruits mentors
• Working closely with the Partnerships Manager to ensure they are across which kinds of short expenses/ paid work placements with employers women want to access

PERSON SPECIFICATION

You will be someone who is naturally warm/ a people person, compassionate and enabling, and who also has fantastic project management/ organisational skills. You may come from a senior youth worker background or other front line organisations working with young vulnerable adults.

Bonny Downs Community Association has been working together to change lives and transform our community since 1998. Over the past 25 years our team has grown to provide a wide array of services that benefit Newham residents from all walks of life. 

This role is specifically funded through the Youth Endowment fund as a pilot project ‘Thriving Communities’. You will be required to work alongside Thriving Communities commissioners, as well as the project’s Youth Justice Worker’s, Educational Psychologist, and/or professionals assigned to individual young people’s cases- such as teachers, social workers and mentors. The Thriving Communities project is a small part of a wider collaborative project, EMPOWER YOUTH, delivered by two partner charities so, although this position is based at BDCA, you will be working closely with a second East Ham Youth Partnership Project lead and team of Sessional Assistants based at nearby charity The Renewal Programme (TRP). Staff from each organisation will work together to deliver the programme and cross-refer young people to activities led by both teams. You will also be required to work with BDCA’s own Children & Families team during the summer scheme and liaise with our marketing team all year round. External partner agencies that you will work directly with include Thriving Communities panel, Newham Youth Empowerment Service, Newham Community Engagement Team, local sports clubs and schools.
