This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. For the right person, though, there will be considerable flexibility about how the duties are fulfilled in the longer-term. It is specifically expected that the role will allow for flexible scheduling to accommodate other responsibilities, including caring.

The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. As with all Methodist circuits, these churches function autonomously yet collaborate closely in their ministry and mission efforts. The Circuit oversees joint resources, including staff and property. Presently, it employs four full-time ordained ministers, one full-time lay pastor, and a part-time administrator. As a part of the Methodist Church, its mission is “to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission”. To fulfil this mission, the Circuit fosters a broad spectrum of ministry within its congregations, focusing on worship but also engaging in outreach to the homeless, asylum seekers, new parents, and various other groups. The role:

• Assist the Bursar to seek commercial income opportunities and monitor and advise on school investments through liaison with external investment managers.
• Deputise for the Bursar in all finance matters and at governor committees, or at SLT meetings when requested by the Head. 
• Support the Bursar’s financial and audit responsibility.
• Check Income & Expenditure (I&E) variances and explain and compare findings to previous year, to budgets and to forecasts.
• Prepare weekly cashflow forecast and monthly management accounts.
• Compile and analyse the annual school budget, setting and monitoring.

Role Overview:

Duties will include the day-to-day financial accounting of the LSO and its subsidiaries across the cash book, purchase ledger and sales ledger for the Group.  The Finance Coordinator will provide transactional and operational support and front-line service by working with the Senior Finance Coordinator and the Finance Team in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring their needs are met and the Finance team’s objectives are achieved. 
 

We are looking for someone with the following experience and skills: 

Essential 

• Proven experience in a similar financial role.
• Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy and detail, while meeting deadlines and managing a busy workload. 
• Self-motivated, organised, proactive. 
• Articulate and able to communicate and collaborate effectively at all levels within and outside of the organisation.  
• Computer literate and highly numerate. Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite and highly proficient with computerised accounting systems.  
• Previous experience working in the charitable finance sector.  

Desirable 

• AAT Level 4 qualification or equivalent 
• Experience of the Access Dimensions accounting system  
• An understanding of how performing arts organisations operate.

A bit about the role:

As a Group Capital Accounting Manager, you will provide accounting support on all areas related to fixed assets and grants, manage the reporting of fixed assets both from a Group and a subsidiary perspective and be key in delivering a successful audit process liaising with external auditors. You will manage the team responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of Fixed asset accounting records. Some of the key results for the role include:

• To maintain the Fixed Asset Register, Grant Register, Investment Property Register and Other Fixed asset register updates
• Work with internal stakeholders where required to ensure all registers are updated on a timely basis with accurate information and reconciling each register to the General Ledger at each reporting period.
• Provide effective and appropriate challenge of the business area to minimise financial risk and implement controls.
• Line manage the team to ensure a consistent and reliable service to stakeholders.
• Facilitate the completion of audit queries for the relevant directorates.
• Lead on the year-end valuation of investment properties from a finance perspective.

This role will require a minimum of 1 day a week working in the central London office.
