The Start Network is made up of close to 100 aid agencies working across six continents. Together, our aim is to transform humanitarian action through innovation, fast funding, early action, and locally driven humanitarian action. We're tackling what we believe are the biggest systemic problems that the sector faces. JOB PURPOSE
This senior management role will enable strategic thinking and design, influence diverse stakeholders, adapt agile ways of working and drive change in line with the vision of the Network.
You will enable the development of country and regional civil society hubs, driving decentralised decision-making, devolving power, and enabling local hub leaders to meet their needs defined and owned by them. You will work with the hubs and their members to understand their support needs, then facilitate and coordinate that support working with peer hubs and relevant members of the Start Network team expertise.
The role requires a good understanding of and experience in the humanitarian and/or development sectors, and an ability to work with local civil society. Awareness of power and political dynamics and sensitivity to different contexts and cultures is crucial. It also requires high levels of self-awareness and emotional intelligence, using your position connect, enable and influence others. You will be skilled at building relationships and brokering partnerships with empathy, credibility and equity. Listening and valuing diverse perspectives to build an inclusive team will be key to success. Solid programme and budget management will be critical to enabling the hubs vision and activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, development planning
- With members and hubs, co-design, develop and enable the evolution of Start Network of Networks, including hubs.
- Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of support, expertise and services to hubs
- Work closely with the Membership and Assurance teams to support iNGO and member intake through hubs.
- Work closely with the Funds, Finance and Innovation teams to facilitate the co-design and development of programmatic initiatives, based on hub priorities.
- Work with hubs and the Start Network team to create a culture of evidence-based decision making, feedback and learning so that we can adapt support to emerging needs.

The Youth Environmental Service is looking for someone special to join our young and growing team. Someone who can come in as right hand to the Programme Director, with the energy and experience to thrive in a boldly ambitious social enterprise start-up.
As Head of Delivery, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of YES. You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering proofs of concept that demonstrate the programme’s viability and potential, paving the way for it to scale nationwide by 2030.
Initially on a six-month contract, but with the option to extend, your first focus will be on laying the groundwork for our next proof of concept, designing the programme, identifying partners and securing funding that will allow us to create up to 50 roles in a specific region (TBC once in role) in 2025.
Longer term, we're looking for someone who can:
- Deliver Proof of concepts: Design, develop and deliver future projects that support the creation of new paid placements in different regional hubs across the country. Building on lessons from our first pilot we need to continue to refine what YES does, how it works, all with the goal of building a body of compelling evidence that will shape how we scale our vision.
- Own the 'Product': We need a clear, accessible, and compelling proposition for how we do what we do and why it works. You’ll be responsible for keeping hold of that core product, and making sure it doesn’t get diluted as the programme begins to scale.
- Secure funding: Engage with funders, big and small, to bring in the financial support required to deliver our proofs of concept. We’ll need to experiment with a more sustainable long-term funding model, so you’ll need to be able to explore new approaches to funding placements, working with a range of different funders and through different funding approaches.
- Build a coalition: We don’t want to do this alone. You’ll need to engage nature, net zero and circular economy organisations as well as delivery partners, creating a collaborative network of organisations who can work together to deliver our programmes and create the foundations on which we can scale in the future.

Role Purpose
The Community Engagement Manager (Maternity Cover) role will be a critical piece of our Community Programmes team, which provides support to founders at every stage of their startup journey. The Community Programme offering includes a roster of events including panels, masterclasses and workshops, as well as mentoring and coaching opportunities, and peer-to-peer engagement opportunities. We work with an exciting range of partners across the private and third sectors to connect underrepresented founders to networks and capital that will help launch and grow their mission-driven businesses.
We are looking for a driven, process-oriented self-starter who is interested in a role that will expose them to a variety of activities across the Community portfolio. As the Community Engagement Manager, you’ll work directly with the Co-Head of Programmes to ensure the systems we need are in place to support the team to deliver their support offering and that we are constantly learning and evolving our programme offering from Founder feedback and engagement.

Responsibilities
Graduate Community Engagement
- Maintain the community engagement strategy for enhanced engagement between founders and a more cohesive founder journey across all stages
- Maintain the end-to-end design and management of the founder experience in the graduate community platform (Circle)
- Helping founders to widen their networks and facilitate connections that can provide critical support and direction via our graduate community platform
- Work collaboratively across the Programmes team to ensure entrepreneurs who engage with Hatch are connected to the best programmes, resources and offers for them
- Maintaining a list of partnership perks for the community

Programme delivery and development

Systems and administration
- Maintaining the KPI tracking system to record programme founder participation, feedback and learning outcomes
- Feeding into the development of a new CRM system to help us better manage our founder and partner relationships
- Supporting the development and maintenance of our calendar of activities, showcasing engagement opportunities to our founders and the public
- Reviewing and suggesting improvements and innovations to systems and implementing system changes
Monitoring and evaluation
- Supporting the collection and collation of feedback from volunteers, mentors and founders in order to monitor and improve participant experience
- Working with the Fundraising team to report on Community Programme KPIs, anecdotal feedback, and to support with the generation of case studies, for funder reports and fundraising pitches
- Collecting and analysing relevant data for the resources webpage, graduate community platform, as well as keeping up to date with any relevant tech updates and training required for monitoring the data
Other
- Gaining and maintaining in-depth knowledge and understanding of Hatch’s work, priorities and future plans and acting as a spokesperson for the charity when required
- Representing Hatch externally at speaking and networking opportunities

Person Specification

The Payroll Manager role will make up part of a new finance team structure. The role reports to the Head of Finance, and other team members include a Senior Finance Officer and Finance Director. The role is paying £42,000 (FTE / pr-rata) inclusive of London weighting. Please note a fully-remote option is available, however in this instance London weighting would not apply, so the FTE/prorate salary would be £38,774 per annum.
The role will cover responsibility for all payroll operations, ensuring that all payments are accurate and on time and that appropriate and accurate information is provided to the Head of Finance, HMRC, pension providers and other external bodies. The payroll is run by an external bureau. You will also be required to support the Head of Finance with across a wide range of financial accounting duties.
The charity has recently implemented a new finance system (Business Central) and has secured some new grants and contracts, so there may be the chance to grow and progress as the charity continues on this path.
Typical duties will include:
-Ensure the timely processing of monthly payroll, including absence and statutory leave as well as various categories of staff payments and deductions; maintaining a separation of duties with relevant HR colleagues
-Check all payroll and pension deductions each month and resolve queries with the payroll bureau as necessary; ensuring that an appropriate and up to date audit trail is maintained which include FINAL reports.
-Ensure timely payments are issued to HMRC, pension providers and in respect of other payroll deductions to enable Kinship to comply with its statutory obligations
-To be proactive in the identification and resolution of any pay anomalies, errors, issues; ensuring that payroll reports are reconciled monthly and agree with control account values
-To contribute to knowledge management and building expertise within the Finance/People teams with regard to payroll; identify process improvements to eliminate exceptions, errors and omissions of data.

Betknowmore UK is collaborating with partner organisations to work as part of a wider team, on the delivery of the Armed Forces Gambling Harms Support Network (AFGHSN). The work will include the provision of training and gambling awareness activities, helping to raise and address the subject of harmful gambling. Working and engaging with armed forces support and personnel services, individuals harmed by gambling, their wider network, stakeholders, and other relevant groups within the veteran and active armed forces communities, the aim is to create trained personnel able to support the work of the AFGHSN.
A key aspect of the role will be working with individuals experiencing gambling harms, requiring an empathetic and compassionate approach and awareness of the complex issues being addressed. A robust management of safeguarding and safe working practices is essential.
It is essential that you are based within one hour travelling time of London, as extensive travel to London and the UK is expected.
Role Purpose
An armed forces veteran or someone closely involved with the armed forces (a family member for example), the post holder will also have a unique insight on gambling harms, and their impact on health and wellbeing specifically within the military.
The Armed Forces Peer Aid Coordinator will initially prioritise engaging with veterans and military organisations to deliver the AFGHSN training programme, along with gambling awareness activities. The purpose is to upskill key armed forces personnel and those in connected communities, enabling and enhancing their knowledge, skills and confidence to address gambling harms.
The second key responsibility is to recruit, train and support Peer Supporters to deliver safe, effective support for individuals and their networks that have been harmed by gambling. It is expected that Peer Supporters will be individuals with ‘lived experience’ of gambling harm themselves or as an ‘affected other’.
The post holder will work with the Head of Peer Support Services to support the development and maintenance of the systems and structure of the service, ensuring that governance and polices are implemented, safeguarding and safe working practices are strictly adhered to, and a clear understanding established of how the service integrates with other support and treatment networks.
The AFGHSN Peer Aid team will ensure that the support and working relationships are safe and secure, and the health and wellbeing of all participants is intact. Peer Support will be in a befriending capacity and should be provided with a considered and transparent approach. Other support activities will be developed, such as group support and weekly meet ups.
Stakeholder management is essential to the role, as is establishing and maintaining relationships within the AFGHSN, alongside confident communication skills to deliver presentations and other promotions within armed forces community, education and health centres to help grow and evolve the service.
We are especially keen to receive applications from individuals with experience of gambling addiction and recovery from within the armed service with a minimum of two years abstinence.
