Job description

The adult learning tutor will be based at our thriving office in North Kensington and will have responsibility for working both individually and as part of the Adult Learning team to plan and deliver the Adult Learning programmes.

Purpose of role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced tutor who will be able to design and deliver high quality learner-centred teaching, learning and assessment experiences to our adult learners. The role will encompass both the development and delivery of Essential Digital Skills, ICT User Skills and Digital Skills for the workplace qualifications at entry level to level 1, supporting and enhancing the lives of people in the local community.

 

Duties will include:

-- to work as a member of the Adult Education Team, planning and delivering high-quality teaching and learning sessions, workshops, and tutorials in line with the curriculum requirements and the needs of individual learners, ensuring learning objectives are met;

-- to carry out and keep records of initial and diagnostic assessments, identifying areas for improvement, tailoring teaching and learning methods and resources accordingly;

-- to develop differentiated Individual Learning Plans with students, monitor and track learners’ progress, providing regular feedback and strategically addressing areas of weakness;

-- to collect, present and maintain feedback forms, samples of learners’ work, samples of formative and summative assessments, termly figures (progression routes and achievement grids), and end of course reviews;

-- to prepare groups of learners for accredited assessment and non-accredited assessment (RARPA), mark assessments and take part in internal moderation and/or consultation meetings with the line manager;

-- to maintain course files and submit accurate data on attendance and achievement within agreed deadlines;

-- to be familiar with and understand the necessary regulations and legal requirements, including Safeguarding Adults, Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety and Working with Vulnerable Groups;

-- to undertake any task that may be requested from time to time that may be consistent with the nature and scope of this post.


You need to have:

-- the right to work in the UK;

-- level 3 or above subject specialism qualification, such as IT User Skills;

-- a teaching qualification suitable for working in adult learning sector (PTTLS, DTLLS, PGCE or DET);

-- practical work experience in the ICT/digital sector;

-- experience of teaching adult learners, being able to manage mixed groups of learners;

-- experience of planning, monitoring and evaluation of courses;

--  experience of setting differentiated targets, assessing and recording progress, and maintaining course files;

-- understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices to impart essential knowledge to students;

-- awareness of and commitment to the safeguarding and promotion of welfare of vulnerable adults, according to the charity’s ethos;

-- a flexible approach to work and be able to work flexibly throughout the week/over the year by prior agreement.
