Head of Relationships - Maternity Cover
Leeds City Centre, West Yorkshire (with travel to Bradford)

About Us

Leeds Community Foundation supports thousands of charities and voluntary groups across Leeds and Bradford, addressing inequalities and working together to support those that need help the most.

We have distributed over £42 million in grants to date across Leeds and Bradford, enabling positive change in the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in our communities.

Over the next four years, our Plan 2024: Ambitious for All will ensure that we are agile in response to social and economic challenges. To support our future plans, it is crucial that we establish a firm foundation for long-term resilience and steady growth.

We’re now looking for a Head of Relationships to join us on an initial 12 month maternity cover contract.

The Benefits

- Salary of £30,000 - £35,000 per annum DOE
- Pension (contributions start at 4%)
- 24 days’ holiday plus Bank Holidays and a Christmas shut-down
- Play a key role in our management team
- Offices in Leeds city centre
- Business mileage allowance (we encourage use of public transport, where possible)

If you have strong experience of generating income through donor relations and securing large charitable gifts, this is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in our charity.

You will be pivotal in the achievement of our income targets, using your expertise to ensure donors feel engaged and know the impact of their donation.

So, if you want to join a friendly and dedicated team who are creating positive and lasting change for the people of Leeds and Bradford, we want to hear from you.

The Role

As the Head of Relationships, you will deliver our bold plans around income generation and annual income targets, attracting new and existing donors to our giving channels.

You will line manage two members of our Development Team, ensuring they work efficiently, and contribute towards our donor stewardship strategy.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, your role will involve:

- Developing and maintaining a donor pipeline and prospect list
- Creating and delivering an annual donor recruitment plan
- Building and maintaining a network of potential partners, ambassadors and influencers
- Managing sponsorship packages
- Supporting the delivery of the annual programme of events

About You

To join us as our Head of Relationships, you will need:

- Significant experience of donor relations, with a proven track record in securing large gifts from individuals or companies
- Experience of creating and managing development strategies
- The ability to build high level relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Experience of line managing small teams

Although not essential, ideally you will have experience in the following: working with high net worth individuals, public speaking, marketing and/or service development and working with volunteers or trustees.

A full, valid driving licence with access to your own vehicle would also be beneficial.

Other organisations may call this role Head of Donor Relations, Donations Manager, Funding Manager, Large Gifts Manager, Funding Development Manager, or Partnerships Manager.

The closing date for this role is the 17th February 2020, with interviews scheduled for the 28th February 2020.

Leeds Community Foundation is an equal opportunities employer.  The communities we serve are very diverse and we aim for our staff team to reflect those communities.  We particularly encourage applications from people with disabilities, who are currently under-represented within our staff team.  All applications will be considered solely on merit.  As such, we redact details that may identify any protected characteristics on job applications.
