£52,000 - £60,000 plus

Contract: 12 month fixed-term contract
Hours: Full time 35 hours per week
Location: Home Based (travel required throughout the UK, including our Stratford and Oxford locations)

We're looking for an inspiring National Operations Manager to support and deputise for the Head of Retail Operations, and you will be the central point of contact for Retail for both internal and external stakeholders.
You will be the central point of contact on all day to day operational, development and income opportunities for Retail, leading on and implementing projects which have potential national scale. As well as successfully develop and lead the retail support team to deliver retail and wider trading objectives.
What will I be doing?
Work with the Head of Retail Operations in the development of the retail strategy to deliver the 10-year plan and growth projections.
To provide leadership and direction on a number of complex projects, identifying and supporting the KPIs, recruit project team/stakeholders and provide timely updates to the head of retail operations.
To provide leadership to the retail support team, ensuring objectives and kpi's are met and delivered.
To build an effective and collaborative relationship with, and provide leadership and direction to, the Operational Support Manager to ensure trading's service and support needs are delivered.
To develop excellent relationships and work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders and CRUK departments both inside and outside of our directorate. As well as providing advice and information to the Divisional Business Managers, where appropriate provide support with projects and trials.
To build a network of external experts, to ensure sector knowledge remains current and future thinking and available to Retail SLT.
Deputise for the Head of Retail Operations in their absence.
What are you looking for?
Significant analytical skills and the ability to work with complex information. Experience of identifying, monitoring and meeting customer needs using sector lead insights.
Commercial or charity retailer with experience in a field management capacity of working in a large and complex organisation, understanding leadership and management of multi-site retail shops at a national or regional level.
Experience in working within a large complex, matrix led organisation, comfortably navigating stakeholder requests and representing retails own strategic aims and goals.
Experience of initiating and implementing change, receptive to new ideas and able to participate fully in developing business plans and strategy.
Evidence of strong leadership and people management, inspiring and empowering team members to believe in the vision and direction of a role, its department and the organisation. As well as experience of Project Management including development, implementation, review and monitoring success.

The Role
As our Van Driver and Donation Centre Assistant, you will be part of the team responsible for ensuring the efficient running of the donation centre.
Supporting the Donation Centre Manager, the primary focus of your role is to deliver stock to our retail shops across Yorkshire in a timely manner. However, at busy times you will also be required to assist with sorting and selecting of stock, collecting and accepting donations at the centre or from donors, assisting with general maintenance tasks and supporting with the removal of general waste through the appropriate channels whilst working in compliance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation and our Driving for Work policy.
Specifically, you will:

Carry out deliveries of donated stock to shops ensuring that the shops receive the stock that they have requested from the Donation Centre.

Complete collections of furniture and goods across Yorkshire, including the disposal of waste materials, as directed.
-
Assist with the moving of furniture and other goods between shops and the Donation Centre. There will also be a requirement to collect goods from donors.

Be responsible for day-to-day vehicle maintenance, including completion of the weekly vehicle maintenance checklist and daily visual checks.

Create a positive, professional, warm welcome for all visitors when accepting donations.
-
Seek opportunities to actively engage with visitors to enhance their visit and further promote the profile of the charity.

Be responsible for assessing the quality of goods collected, including furniture which will include declining donations that are unsuitable for sale and may contravene the Sales of Goods Act 1979.

In the absence of the Donation Centre Managers, monitor the Donation Centre email inbox daily for Stock Requests from shops and ensure that the Donation Centre team have prepared the stock in line with the weekly delivery schedule.

Support with the sorting and selecting of stock, as required or directed by the Donation Centre Manager.

Assist with basic maintenance tasks at all sites, including:

Minor repairs to fixtures and fittings
-
Basic grounds/exterior maintenance
-
Painting & decorating
-
Work safely at all times, adhering to the hazards highlighted in associated risk assessments and within own personal abilities.

Where tasks require a relevant tradesperson, raise it to the Shop Manager and/or Facilities Manager so that the appropriate trade can be organised.

Have a basic working knowledge of the Yorkshire Cancer Research compliance system (EVERY), including reacting to and closing reactive tasks at properties.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:

To be educated to at least GCSE standard or equivalent, including Maths and English.

To have proof of your eligibility to work in the UK.

To have a full UK driving licence with less than 6 penalty points.

To have the ability and willingness to travel across Yorkshire.

To have good general driving skills including navigation and manoeuvring.

To have good geographical knowledge of Yorkshire and the surrounding area is desirable.

To be a competent and experienced driver with the ability to drive a variety of vehicles, including large vans.

To have knowledge and understanding of manual handling as this role involves lifting and moving stock items, donation bags and on occasions, furniture

To be highly organised with good time management skills.

To be able to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and adapt to changing deadlines.

To be able to demonstrate a good standard of written and numeracy skills or confident in using available tools to support with this.

To be passionate about delivering good customer service both internally and externally.
