This role will include supporting birth relatives to meet with adoptive parents and to help birth relatives understand the importance for children, to keep connected to their relatives and significant people from their past.

Ideally, you will have previous experience of working with birth relatives whose children have been placed for adoption and you will have a good understanding of the adoption process.  You will work with relatives from a range of diverse backgrounds, lived experiences and those who may be neuro diverse and you will need to demonstrate understanding, respectfulness and adaptability to your social work practice.

About the role

You will be responsible for the design, development and iterative delivery of a portfolio of projects to inform, inspire and support 11-14 year olds to ultimately progress into engineering and technology. Currently, these projects are Energy Quest and Climate Schools Programme which provide in-school workshops, teacher materials and resources for school clubs. You will ensure that these projects and newly developed projects have career messages embedded and respond to both evidence and need ensuring our work responds to the changing needs of young people, schools and industry and specifically has an impact on those currently underrepresented in the industry. You will ensure that the work in your portfolio aligns and links to all EUK’s products and services for schools and build strategic partnerships with external organisations to enhance the design and delivery of the programmes.
 

The engagement projects delivered by your team are dependent on external fundraising, so you will work closely with our Business and Industry team who lead on fundraising, supporting the bid writing and pitch process. You will also work closely with colleagues from across the rest of EngineeringUK, including our evaluation, communications teams, and oversee the management of external partners responsible for delivering the projects.
 

The role is London based at our office at 10 Lower Thames Street, London EC3R 6EN and may involve some travel in the UK. We believe that hybrid working has many benefits and are pleased to offer flexible working with a minimum of 2 days (or 40%) a week in the office and the option for a flexible start and end to the working day in our vibrant central London office overlooking the Thames. The role:

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Property and Development will oversee the provision of high-quality asset management and repair services in-line with PBHA values and strategic objectives. Working closely with the Director of Services, the successful candidate will aid in the identification, management and acquisition of opportunities that will enable PBHA’s strategic growth. The role will help to ensure that PBHA’s work, and homes, meet building standards, health and safety obligations, regulatory framework, and will always provide a high-quality service to PBHA tenants.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Spearhead line-management of PBHA’s Property and Development Team through performance management and handling employee relations issues if necessary.
• Organise and coordinate work programmes. 
• Lead Housing Development programmes ensuring compliance with building standards, health and safety and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in the recruitment, selection, induction and onboarding of team members.  
• Participate in on-call rota and respond appropriately to out of hours incidents.
• Provide strategic and operational direction to enhance the long-term management and investment objectives of the property portfolio.
• Ensure PBHA’s assets are surveyed and data records are established and upheld to monitor property condition.
• Oversee and manage stock improvement and maintenance programmes, ensuring that they meet service standards and agreed budgets.
• As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, present to Board and Services Committee, offering recommendations in accordance with the Asset Management Strategy.
• Develop high quality policies, procedures and systems relating to Property and Development Service.

• Propose appropriate partnership development opportunities to the Senior Leadership Team.
• Monitor and evaluate service delivery, collating information for monthly, quarterly and annual performance metrics.
• Respond proactively to complaints regarding services, staff and contractors.
• Develop and implement new procedures in response to legislation changes and emerging best practice.
• Aid team in creating and maintaining good working relations with landlords, contractors and professional consultants.

Person specification:

• Experience delivering and improving Repairs and Maintenance Service, preferably for a Registered Provider or Charity.
• Substantial project or change management experience.
• Experience developing specifications for property related tenders and managing contracts.
• Revenue and Capital Budgets experience.
• Staff management experience.
• Building related qualification and professional body membership, e.g. RCIS/MCIOB, degree or HND in building management.
• Knowledge of project management, e.g. PRINCE 2/APM Techniques.
• Experience of housing development issues, funding, approaches and financing.
• Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation.
• Prioritisation and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Qualifications and experience

1. 5 years’ PQE qualified lawyer, with demonstrable experience of management at a senior level.
2. Ability to meet the supervisor for the Legal Aid Agency contract in either housing or community care.
