CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will have senior level recruitment/talent acquisition experience as well as experience in influencing senior management and implementing talent acquisition solutons. A key requirement will be taking a proactive rather than reactive recruitment approach and will require strong experience in direct sourcing and building strong candidate pipleines.

The role holder will need outstanding verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.

DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Translate the Turing’s strategic objectives into actionable talent acquisition strategies, with clear, ambitious, measurable goals and targets
• Lead, coach and mentor talent advisors to promote direct hiring and align with strategic resourcing goals
• Conduct and coach the management team on recruitment processes
• Work collaboratively with the other departmental HR Heads to develop and implement talent acquisition strategies to support business objectives
• Advise executive leadership on Talent Acquisition related matters
• Work with the senior management team to plan the future skills sets required to meet the Institute’s objectives and create talent pipelines to address these talent needs
• Develop and implement strategies to attract, recruit, and retain top talent

Terms and Conditions

This post is offered on a permanent basis, at an annual salary of £80,000 - £85.000 plus excellent benefits, including flexible working and family friendly policies.

The Alan Turing Institute is based at the British Library, in the heart of London’s Knowledge Quarter. We expect staff to come to our office at least 4 days per month. Some roles may require more days in the office; the hiring manager will be able to confirm this during the interview.

Royal Medical Benevolent Fund (RMBF) provide advice and financial assistance in the form of grants at times of crisis and hardship.  Our work is funded through a combination of donations, legacies and returns on our investments.

The Head of Finance & IT will manage the relationships with the three investment managers and the outsourced IT providers.  It is a varied role, combining the strategic with the hands-on.  It will suit a versatile individual who is happy to transition between multiple tasks.  No two days will be the same.  One moment you might be writing or reviewing Board papers, the next you might be managing an IT support call and then later on you might be rolling up your sleeves to post the final journal entries to complete the management accounts.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Finance

• Accurate, timely and user-friendly management accounts, cash flow projections and other relevant financial information, with associated recommendations where appropriate
• An annual budget and accompanying management commentary
• Draft statutory accounts which meet the latest SORP requirements, producing the audit file and being the lead contact for the Fund’s auditors during the annual external audit
• Full compliance with UK charity and company financial regulations; and appropriate financial controls in place and complied with
• The development and keeping up to date of a Finance department handbook, covering finance policies, practices and procedures
• Successful leadership and development of the finance team
• The development of, and assistance with the implementation of, financial strategies to enable the Fund to achieve its long-term goals
• Support The Finance Committee’s investment management and monitor the Investment managers’ performance
• Managing the payroll function (outsourced)
• Managing the relationship with the pension scheme provider and staff salary sacrifice arrangements.

Information Technology

• Responsible for the development and implementation of the RMBF’s Information Technology strategy
• Management and development of an accurate, up to date, user-friendly database to provide relevant information to support all areas of the RMBF’s work including casework, fundraising and communications
• Cost effective development and use of IT within the Fund, to enable staff to make good use of IT for communication, record keeping and management information
• Managing the relationship with the Fund’s outsourced IT support companies.

Person Specification

• Qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years post qualified experience
• Good understanding of charity SORP
• Experienced in preparing charity statutory accounts
• Experienced in charity investment management; good understanding of charity investment and restricted funds
• Good understanding of stakeholder pension and latest regulatory requirement

The Churchill Fellowship:

Purpose of the role:

The Head of Fellowship is responsible for the delivery of the Churchill Fellowship’s annual Fellowship Programme, overseeing all stages from pre-application support, through selection and award, to Fellows’ global learning. Key Responsibilities

Delivery of Fellowship Programme:

• Lead on and manage the full Fellowship selection process, from pre-application to final award, ensuring alignment with TCF’s EDI values and strategic priorities.

Overseas Learning:

Collaboration and Engagement

• Contribute to the design of new Fellowship programmes, led by the Engagement team, and lead on operationalising these programmes during the application cycle.

• Work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery of the Fellowship programme.

Safeguarding, EDI, and Fellowship Model

• Act as a member of the Designated Safeguarding Team, ensuring compliance and best practice.
• Lead on embedding EDI principles throughout the Fellowship model, working with the Chief Executive, Head of Activate and People and Culture Manager to ensure that accessibility, fairness and inclusivity are built into every stage of the process.

• Partner with the Salesforce team to ensure systems and processes support the successful programme delivery.

• Line manage the Fellowship Manager and Fellowship Officer, supporting their development and performance in delivering team and organisational objectives.

General

• Ensure all Fellowship programme activity complies with organisational policies, safeguarding requirements, GDPR, and data protection standards.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

This is a critical operational leadership role that is responsible for the operation of the
organisation’s supported accommodation services.

Providing operational leadership to team managers and ensuring compliance with
organisational, contractual, local authority and legal regulations and the quality of
services is pushed to the highest possible standards; ensuring excellent outcomes for
residents and a positive and high performing working environment for teams.

This role will also be accountable for the development of excellent relationships with
external partners, commissioners, and other key stakeholders for support services in
the organisation.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Service Delivery

• Lead in setting organisational standards and performance targets across the
support and resident services teams that reflect contractual requirements and
organisational standards.
• Actively promote and develop person centred practices based on a trauma
informed approach and psychologically informed environment to working with
residents with high support needs and challenging behaviour.
• Be accountable for the operational performance of the services, allocating
resources strategically to ensure that key performance indicators are achieved
and that action plans are in place where required to improve service
performance.
• Remodelling to promote accountability and co-production approaches with
residents.
• Work with the Head of Building & Facilities to ensure your teams put health &
safety procedures into practice to create a safe environment for our residents

Stakeholder Management

• Build strong relationships with Commissioners and regulatory bodies to enable

other statistics and data as directed by the Director of Frontline Services.

Our new structure and our new ways of working will bring all of these services together under one delivery model launching next year. We're creating a new virtual support hub to bring together everything our community needs to manage their MS or support and care for someone living with MS.

Our Head of Volunteering is a key leadership role in our Services and Support directorate, as part of our Services Development function.

We rely heavily on our volunteers to support our mission and improve the lives of people affected by MS. Our volunteers who generously donate their time are critical to our success. 

Our volunteers play an important role in: 

• fundraising events 
• delivering resources to people affected by MS 
• advocating for MS research and policy 
• providing care and support to the MS community 

Our Head of Volunteering will be: 

• leading on the development and implementation of the organisation's volunteering strategy
• growing organisational capacity and capability in volunteering, maximising the unique contribution volunteering can make to support the MS Society's strategic aims. 
• leading a team who will support our volunteer journey, volunteer experience and volunteering systems, developing a high-performing and motivated culture within teams. 
• ensuring volunteer-related policies, products and procedures are aligned with sector best practice and opportunities are increased to support the engagement and retention of volunteers, leading to an increase in flexible volunteering roles and volunteers. 
• seeking new opportunities to grow and develop volunteer capacity, engagement and impact. 

We’re looking for: 

• extensive experience of development and successful implementation of a volunteering strategy or plan 
• a proven track record of operating at a senior level within a volunteering function or organisation, engaging significant numbers of volunteers. 
• significant experience in developing and implementing volunteer journeys, policies and processes focussed on improving the volunteer experience. 
• substantial experience of successfully leading and managing a large and geographically dispersed teams of staff and volunteers, embedding change and fostering a high performing culture.

The role

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled IT Systems Administrator.

As the IT System Administrator, you will be responsible for the development, administration and optimisation of Cruse’s Microsoft 365 environment and wider IT cloud infrastructure.

Working closely with the Head of IT, and the wider Digital Services team of 5 staff, you will ensure our systems are secure, reliable, and aligned with the needs of our staff and volunteers.

Cruse operates a cloud IT infrastructure providing IT services to staff and volunteers based across the UK and Northern Ireland. Microsoft 365 is the main IT service, but there will also be other IT systems you will need to become familiar with in this role.

Cruse makes use of a managed services IT support provider and numerous application and service provider support teams; you will be required to work with these teams making sure our issues are resolved quickly and with minimum disruption.

As part of your role, you will be involved in BAU and project work and be comfortable with competing priorities and pressures.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to advance their technical skills and experience. Where they will have input into the development of the IT systems, working with an experienced and dedicated Head of IT and digital team, for a charity that is investing in its digital strategy and services.

What You'll Do:​​

Lead the Enterprise team to provide an outstanding level of service to events clients, visitors, including the families programme, and deliver excellence in the Café Restaurant franchise and the Shop. You will work enthusiastically as part of the Cathedral’s team of staff and volunteers to help deliver our vision. ​

Some of the Key Responsibilities of the role:​​

• Events

  • To direct the events team in organising the extensive events programme, maximise the spare capacity of the Cathedral building and the adjacent grounds, thereby generating income as required by the Cathedral budget.
