What will you be doing?

Main Responsibilities:

● To liaise with the chair and chief executive to plan, arrange and produce agendas and supporting papers for trustee meetings and for drafting the subsequent minutes

● To act as charity secretary and ensure that charity law, and regulatory requirements of reporting and public accountability are complied with

● Ensure that all meetings comply with the requirements of the governing document

● Arranging and administrating trustee meetings and any sub-committees in line with legal, and other regulatory requirements, and in accordance with the governing document

● Advise and guide the board on any legal and regulatory implications of the charity’s strategic plan

● Acting as the custodian of the governing document, in liaison with the trustees, reviewing its appropriateness and monitoring that the charity’s activities reflect the objects set out in the governing document. Also, to act as the holder of statutory registers and books, and other legal and important documents such as insurance policies

● Supporting the trustees in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities, organising trustee induction and ongoing training

● Ensuring that trustee decisions are implemented in accordance with the charity’s governing document or other internal operational procedures

● Ensuring the charity’s stationery, including electronic communications (emails, websites etc), orders, invoices, cheques and other relevant documents include all the details required under company law and, if applicable, charity law and/or VAT law

● Plan and prepare the committee meetings and AGM with others as appropriate (planning dates, booking rooms, sending out minutes and other papers

● Minute committee meetings or ensure another minute taker is available

● Accurately record decisions and actions in the minutes and report to the next committee meeting on the progress of actions and the result of decisions

Person Specification:

Individuals are sought who have a strong empathy with any body image issues and related mental health concerns. Experience, skills and expertise in charity law, an interest in the well-being of people combined with an in-depth understanding of our work and ambitions are particularly sought.

• Record keeping, information retrieval and dissemination of Management Committee data/documentation to the trustees and relevant parties
• Writing agendas and concise minutes

Living with a diagnosis of PSP or CBD is life-changing and affects individuals and their families in a variety of different ways. A diagnosis can put a real strain on family members’ mental health and well-being.

As a Link Volunteer, you will offer support to families in your local community who are adjusting to a diagnosis. A Link Volunteer will be supported by PSPA to provide information, practical and emotional support. For the families you support, having a Link Volunteer to talk to regularly about their worries can make a huge difference. 

Becoming a Link Volunteer is a great way to gain and develop existing skills whilst making a difference to people living with PSP & CBD and their families.

The Link Volunteer role is flexible so that you can fit it around your family, studies or other commitments and you will receive comprehensive training and ongoing support from PSPA staff throughout.

• The Kids Network is looking for committed, fun and passionate volunteers who live in or near to Hackney to make a difference to the children of London.
• Our structured mentoring programme supports 8-11 year olds with their social and emotional development before they transition into secondary school.
• As a mentor, you will hold weekly one-to-one sessions of 1-3 hours. You will help to build confidence, resilience and support your mentee to manage feelings through a series of fun and positive experiences and activities.
• The weekly sessions can be during the weekday after school or at the weekends.
• You will also get to meet fellow adults in your community through our peer network.
• All volunteers will benefit from our two-day training where you'll gain skills and knowledge to support you as a mentor. (Many mentors share that the skills developed support their progression in the workplace, especially those seeking to gain experience working with children and young people)

HeadsOut Imago group: Trans, Non-Binary Support Group – Volunteer Co-Facilitator

Imago is a peer support group for trans, non-binary and non-cisgender people offering a safe, identity affirming space for support to improve their mental health, emotional and social well-being and through community connection. Imago aims to support members with shared struggles and challenges that they may commonly face as non-cis people, to help them find and celebrate genuine joy and self-confidence. It meets every Wednesday between 7pm and 8:30 pm, currently online via Microsoft Teams.

We are a social enterprise dedicated to enhancing mental wellbeing. Our flagship service is The Teashop, which brings small groups of community members together to foster their mental wellbeing through an enjoyable activity with known mental health benefits, over a cup of tea.

Job Description: 
As a Volunteer Events Assistant, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our mission by supporting in-person Teashop sessions. Each session brings together groups of up to 15 adults experiencing mild-to-moderate mental health symptoms, providing them with an enjoyable activity and an opportunity for connection in a supportive environment. We’ve offered dog therapy, art-making, yoga, and wellness discussions in the past. 

Responsibilities: 
- Create Eventbrite/Facebook/Instagram ads to draw new participants to future sessions. 
- Assist with the setup and logistics of sessions for The Teashop service 
- Travel to and support Teashop sessions by helping with materials, taking photos, and managing sign-in procedures, typically two sessions per month during weekends. 
- Create engaging social media content to promote The Teashop sessions and build community awareness. 
- If required, provide mental health first aid support by signposting and offering assistance to attendees in need. 
- Collect feedback at the end of each session and input it into Excel spreadsheets.

Essential Criteria: 
- 18+ years old
- Completed A-levels or equivalent
- Must possess a valid DBS check or be willing to have it done
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively during sessions
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for engaging with diverse communities
- Availability to volunteer two weekend days per month for in-person sessions
- Ability to travel to session locations within the designated area
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for data entry and social media management.
 
Desirable criteria:  
- An undergraduate degree (BSc/BA)

Researcher (voluntary)

Real are running a study into disability and wellbeing, and we are looking for D/deaf and Disabled people to train as field researchers to support the work.

We plan to interview 1000 Disabled people across London over two years using a tool validated by the World Health Organisation. The tool analyses the impact that different services and interventions have on Disabled people’s wellbeing, and each interview participant will receive a personalized report on what the tool says about them after the interview.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in research that will have both a great personal impact for the participants and that will provide the evidence base to make services better for everyone.

No experience in interviewing or research is needed to volunteer. Instead, you will receive:

• In-depth training in interview and research skills, GDPR compliance, safeguarding and disability equality.

• A DBS check if you do not have this already.

• A £40 voucher for the retailer of your choice after completing the training and 5 interviews, and more vouchers the more interviews that you do.

• Access to a peer support network for trainee researchers, with meetings held quarterly.
