Become an Independent Visitor to be matched one to one with a young person in care in Eastbourne. You will meet once or twice a month to take them out to do fun activities together. This is an opportunity for our young people to develop a healthy relationship with a trusted adult, have fun and share their worries and feelings if they are ready to do so.
We'll provide full training, all your expenses and ongoing support from dedicated staff. You provide the commitment and time. Together we will make a difference for young people.
This is an opportunity to build skills and knowledge within social care and test yourself with real life experience of a young person in care.
About Croydon Children's Quality Assurance Unit and Safeguarding Services:
As part of Croydon Council we support our social care colleagues in safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of young people from the borough. We want young people in care to have the chance to explore their interests and hobbies, to have a say in issues that affect them, to engage in activities of their choice and to have fun. We aim to improve their quality of life for today and for the future.
We're looking for enthusiastic, committed people to bring their experience, skills and positivity to the lives of young people who have been through tough times.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
Would you relish the opportunity to use your skills and experience to improve the lives of one million older people in financial hardship?
Independent Age is looking for enthusiastic and skilled individuals to join our Board of Trustees. If you’re passionate about our cause and want to help shape the future of our Charity, we’d love to hear from you.
Across the UK, more than 3 million older people are living with limited financial means and experiencing inequalities. At Independent Age, we believe that no older person should face financial hardship. That’s why, by 2027, the charity’s goal is to have improved the lives of one million older people. Through our policy, campaigning, information and advice and grant-making we improve lives by increasing the financial well-being of older people in financial hardship, enabling greater choice and independence.
We are seeking to appoint new Trustees to our Board. Board members serve on at least one of our Committees, which oversee our finance, risk, governance, services, and policy work. We estimate the time commitment for trustees to be around one day per month on average.
We are particularly looking for skills and experience in one or more of the following:
- Fundraising strategy and performance
- Service delivery and performance
- Grant-making strategy and evaluation
- Impact measurement
- Investments (experience of social/impact investing would be a bonus)
If you have the passion to support our cause and strengths in any of these areas, we would love to hear from you.
For more information about Independent Age and the role of our trustees, please see the Candidate Pack below. To apply for this role, please visit our website. The application process will require the following:
- An up-to-date CV
- A supporting statement (no more than 2 pages) that outlines what attracted you to Independent Age’s mission (detailed in the Candidate Pack) and how your skills and experience relate to the role of Trustee.
- A completed diversity monitoring form (optional - link included below).
We actively encourage people from a variety of backgrounds, experiences and skill sets to join us and help shape what we do.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
Lead the board of a newly evolved organisation, bringing together a group of like-minded charities across North West London with the aim to create access to responsive, fully-integrated, quality and culturally-appropriate support that reduce health inequalities and ensures residents stay independent and in control of their lives.
- Location: North West London
- Salary: Reasonable expenses paid
- Closing date: Monday 20th May
Who we are.
3ST – Third Sector Together – is a group of like-minded charities that have been working together since 2019 across the eight boroughs of North West London: Harrow, Hillingdon, Brent, Hounslow, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster.
Third sector organisations have long been valued, vital partners to the public sector in the delivery of support and services to communities and individuals, both in day-to-day life and in times of crisis.
The changing strategic and funding landscape is presenting new challenges and opportunities for the third sector. Alongside the widely recognised increased competition for funding, these changes are also bringing about more significant opportunities to influence future service development and forward strategy, particularly within the health and social care sector.
The increasing regionalisation of funding and strategic planning means that individual organisations are finding it increasingly difficult to maintain effective relationships across the vast array of commissioners and organisations now present in the marketplace.
3ST has been formed primarily to provide a strategic and commissioning link between the voluntary and community (third) sector and the Integrated Care System within the NHS across the North West London region. 3ST aims to be a strong, recognisable group able to represent the sector’s voice and interests at a local and regional level and to maximise the opportunities presented by the NHS’s Long Term Plan commitment to increased sector involvement. Our ambition is to act as a contract vehicle for the sector to demonstrate the impact of social models and provide effective management. We foster closer working with the ICS through collaboration with grassroots organisations that can support reach activities and co-production. We are in the process of planning to host a VSCE conference which will grow the 3ST members.
About the role.
Our Board is looking to appoint our first Independent Chair to lead us through a period of growth, developing relationships and defining our future strategic vision. We are looking for someone who has led complex organisations, with strong communication skills with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, and who has experience of chairing complex meetings with an inclusive style.
Who we are looking for.
Our Independent Chair will be an ambassador for the organisation, proactively building relationships across NW London Integrated Care System and our members and promoting the third sector’s role in population health management alongside our executive team. It would be beneficial if our new Chair has experience in the health, social care or the voluntary or public sectors, whilst being commercial, strategic and a champion for the needs and views of NW London residents. Our MD, Fiona Hill and the executive team (leaders of our member organisations) will come together with our Chair and liaise to provide leadership, advice and guidance to ensure we are working collaboratively with our members, ICS, and residents at the heart of our decision making.
Our Board, including our legacy partners from H4ALL and our elected members, come together and meet six times a year for two hours plus an annual strategy day. We expect the overall time commitment to be the equivalent of c.2 days a month which will include, liaising with our MD and executive, working with our Board and Members, and building relationships with our ICS colleagues.
The eight boroughs we are active in are diverse in many ways, and we want to continue ensuring our Board represents our society and the people we work with every day.
Please click 'Apply via website’ to be redirected to the Peridot Partners website, where you can find full details of the candidate profile and register your interest to apply.

About the Role
The Bridge Project is a well-established Bradford based charity with over 35 years’ experience delivering services and projects addressing a range of issues such as substance misuse, risk taking behaviours, relationships, housing, physical/mental health, and employment. We work with individuals, families, partners, and communities to improve people’s lives in a sustainable way, empowering people experiencing multiple barriers to achieve positive change.
We currently employ over 120 staff, 40% of whom are ‘experts by experience’ and have joined us through our volunteering programme. We are recognised as being innovative and recovery focused, and our services have been highlighted nationally as examples of best practice in the sector. Our portfolio of services and projects are constantly evolving in response to the changing needs of our service users and our local communities. Currently this includes recovery focussed drug treatment services, housing and resettlement support, access to education, training, and employment (ETE), volunteering programmes, support for people engaged with criminal justice services and befriending/mentoring services for people with significant barriers to recovery and community reengagement.
What will you be doing?
Our Trustees play a pivotal role in governing the Bridge Project. They are responsible for setting our strategic vision and priorities, ensuring our financial sustainability, and providing guidance and oversight to our operations. Our Board is committed to excellence, and we are looking for new individuals to bring fresh knowledge and experience to join us in this important work. We’re committed to creating a Board which is representative of the communities we support, bringing together those with a variety of skills and experiences, to help shape what we do and how we work. We’re particularly keen to hear from candidates from ethnically diverse backgrounds and from woman, however, we would be pleased to hear from you if you feel you can add value to our Board and would like to help us to make a positive contribution. This is a rewarding role and you do not need to have experience of been a Trustee before, as there will be a comprehensive induction.
As a Trustee, you will have the opportunity to bring commitment, energy and enthusiasm to the role with a passion for doing your best. You will work alongside other talented Trustees, engage with our staff and stakeholders, and contribute to our collective mission of empowering people experiencing multiple barriers to achieve positive change.
Our Trustees play a vital role in making sure that the Bridge Project achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that the charity has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the senior leadership team to enable The Bridge Project to grow and thrive, and through this, achieve our mission.
Time Commitment
We ask that you are able to devote time to attend 4 Trustee Board meetings per year, 4 Sub-Committee meetings per year and 1 Planning meeting. These are a mixture of in-person meetings in Bradford and zoom meetings. Meetings are currently held in the evening. Trustees are also encouraged to visit our premises to meet with the staff team and meet the people we support.
What Difference will you make?
You will be joining a friendly, highly engaged, and passionate group of likeminded Trustees who are keen to deepen the impact of the Bridge Project in local communities. As a Trustee, you will have a real opportunity to offer your unique skill set to help the strategic direction of the charity and directly contribute to these objectives.
You will collectively be responsible for ensuring that the Chief Officer and his team not only grow our services to meet everyone that needs them, but that the service we provide is of the highest quality. Last year we provided treatment and support to 4,900 individuals.
You will also have an opportunity to expand your knowledge of the voluntary and community sector and give something back to the local community as well as developing new skills.

We are looking for fun, reliable, and enthusiastic volunteers from all different cultures, backgrounds and experiences who have a genuine interest in making a difference to the lives of children and young people.
Our Staffordshire and Stoke Independent Visitor Service is looking for volunteers in or near to Leek.
- Are you passionate about wanting to help young people?
- Do you have 2 to 4 hours to spare, once a month?
- Are you ready to make a long-term, regular, commitment?
If the answer is yes and you would like to support a child or young person currently in the care of their local authority, then we would love to hear from you.
You will decide with your young person what to do, but activities could include going to the cinema, bowling, playing football, going to a restaurant, riding a bike, or walking in a park. We will match you with a child you share common interests with.
You do not need experience of working with children and young people, just an interest in their development and welfare. Full training and support are provided.
