The Carer Friendly Officer will work closely with partners of Carers Trust South East Wales to work towards the Carers Friendly accreditation scheme. The Carer Friendly Accreditation is an accreditation for services, employers, GP’s, local authorities, pharmacies etc. to be recognised for the support they put in place for unpaid carers. Giving each organisation the exemplar tools and a framework to improve identification and support for carers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Delivery

Purpose
To engage with young & young adult carers and relevant organisations to develop and implement a Young & Young Adult Carers regional strategy. Promoting carer services across the region, working alongside the Gwent regional hub and spoke.
Major Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate the implementation and development of the young carers ID cards for the Region
- Working in partnership with Local Authority, Health Boards and Third Sector to strategically standardise support and assessments available for Young & Young Adult Carers in line with the Social Services and Well-Being Act (2014)
- Developing and implementing in partnership a regional Young & Young Adult Carers Strategy
- To work closely with colleagues to develop services for young & young adult carers across CTSEW
- To attend and represent CTSEW at contract meetings and other meetings appropriate to the post
- To develop knowledge of local services and foster links with voluntary service providers, keeping up to date with any service changes and development
- To promote the identification of potential new service users and hidden carers
- Attending local forums and multi-agency groups with professionals and peers, sharing service information and representing carer issues

PURPOSE
The Fundraising Manager is a key role with-in Carers Trust South East Wales’ (CTSEW) Leadership Team and will oversee the delivery of Our Fundraising Strategy which will increase unrestricted funds for the organisation. With the changing economy and dependence on statutory funding becoming more of a risk, the time is right for us to focus on building funds that we obtain through fundraised activities so that we can support more unpaid carers in the way that suits them best. Our growth over the past few years has given us a fantastic base across South East Wales and provides enormous potential to diversify our income through fundraising. The Fundraising Manager will oversee the following:
- To lead on the implementation and delivery of CTSEW’s Fundraising Strategy, increasing unrestricted funds for the organisation
- To implement robust systems that will support all aspects of fundraising for the charity
- To increase awareness of unpaid carers and CTSEW through a programme of fundraising activities
- To further develop and adapt strategy in line with CTSEW organisation aims and objectives
- To provide high quality administrative and clerical support to Carers Trust South East Wales Leadership Team and wider office teams

The Role
As a Royal British Legion Advice and Information Officer, you will office based out of the Cardiff Pop In and also spending the rest of your time getting out and about into the community, running outreach sessions designed to provide advice and information about all aspects of the Legion's work those living across Cardiff and South Wales.
Accustomed to providing advice and information support to customers, you'll have an understanding of statutory welfare provision and experience of building relationships with a range of different agencies. An excellent communicator with an outgoing personality and strong organisational and planning skills, you will also need good IT skills and be confident in supporting our beneficiaries.
It is essential that you have an empathy with the UK armed forces community and some knowledge and understanding of this area would also be an advantage.

About this key role
As Trainer / Assessor, you will focus on recruiting learners in custody and the community with the relevant skills, motivation and aptitude to become Peer Advisers, carrying out an assessment of individuals’ suitability for the programme and their learning needs. After which, you will deliver effective and tailored training programmes, offer vital support, and provide one-to-one mentoring, including individual learning plan reviews. You will also work towards helping each individual achieve a City & Guilds Level 3 Advice and Guidance qualification and complete successful work placements.
Coordinating promotion and marketing for the project is a key aspect of the role, as is developing good relations with other St Giles Trust teams and staff and contributing to the development of a positive and successful team.
What we are looking for:
- An A1 assessors’ qualification or willingness to achieve qualification
- The ability to assess learners in work situations, and support them to achieve a Level 3 qualification
- An understanding of issues facing individuals with multiple and complex needs, in prison and on release
- A track record of delivering training and learning opportunities to disadvantaged learners
- An excellent communicator, oral and written, with strong IT, interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Sympathy with the aims and ethos of St Giles as an organisation

In this fantastic role you will work to develop strategies to integrate internal communications and engagement, reaching staff and volunteers and supporting managers to build their capacity to communicate more effectively. Our client is seeking talented applicants who can establish their credibility within this high profile role.
Requirements:
- You will have proven experience creating Internal Communications campaigns with confident skills using a range of digital and face-to-face channels.
- You will be comfortable advising leaders and managers how to build better engagement with colleagues and to communicate with staff across all teams.
- You will have previous experience leading the development of an intranet, with support from an IT department.
- You will also have excellent Planning, editing and content writing skills for a variety of internal communications.
