Institutional Funding Officer Jobs in Camberwell, Greater London
Job purpose and key responsibilities
As per our 2030 Vision, CARE and our partners aim to support 200 million people from the most vulnerable and excluded communities to overcome poverty and social injustice. This role sits within CARE International UK’s Programme Funding Team, which is critical to the achievement of CARE’s vision as we lead high-quality bidding processes with UK-based institutional donors and large foundations.
As a Programme Development Officer, you will play a key role in the delivery of CIUK’s donor diversification strategy seeking to secure funding from and strengthen CIUK’s relationships with non-FCDO donors. The post-holder will lead proposal development processes for accountable grants up to £1.5M. You will also work with other programme development specialists to contribute to the programme design and proposal submissions for larger or more complex programmes such as those funded by FCDO or the European Commission.
The post holder will work closely with technical teams, CARE Country Offices and other partners to identify and monitor exciting funding opportunities, and which showcase CARE’s programme innovation, and which deliver impact as well as full cost recovery for CIUK. The post holder will be the primary contact person and manage CIUK’s relationship engagement with allocated donors.
Post holders will work internationally and be exposed to a range of technical approaches in varied thematic areas and geographies across CARE’s work. CARE employees are encouraged to pursue learning and development opportunities within the organisation, and to pro-actively contribute to the positive culture of CIUK. They will also benefit from the extensive knowledge and learning resources held by the CARE International confederation.
Why join our team?
By shaping and building our programme portfolio, the Programme Funding Team is central to delivery of CARE International UK’s new three-year strategy.
‘Local Leadership, Global Influence’, underpins our new strategy. Women leaders and activists already play key roles addressing humanitarian and climate crises, something which is frequently overlooked. CIUK will scale our proven models which support women’s voice and leadership to place women at the center of climate and humanitarian action and decision-making. The team will also contribute to CARE’s aims to shift more power and resources to a country and local level, exploring new ways to provide programme funding support to country offices and partners.

Background
Women's Link Worldwide (WLW) was founded on the principles of intersectional feminism, anti-racism, anti-colonialism, and Global South leadership, our organization is deeply rooted in the mission of advancing feminist movements across Latin America and the Caribbean, East Africa, and Europe. With a robust network comprising over 60 national partners and 40 regional and global coalitions, we strive to dismantle oppressive systems and rebalance power dynamics. Our approach centers on transforming the feminist strategic litigation landscape, breaking down legal barriers, and amplifying the voices of marginalized communities within the legal sphere.
At the heart of our strategy lies an intersectional lens, guiding our legal interventions to secure the rights of women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals. Our core focus areas include gender and reproductive justice, particularly advocating for safe and dignified access to abortion and combating gender-based violence. Recognizing the interconnectedness of climate and racial justice with sexual and reproductive rights, we integrate these perspectives into our advocacy efforts. Central to our ethos is the adoption of reproductive justice, pioneered by Black women since the 1990s, which combines reproductive rights with broader social justice imperatives through an intersectional framework.

Street Child believes that every child deserves the chance to go to school and learn. Our projects focus on a combination of education, child protection and livelihood support to address the social, economic and structural issues that underpin today’s education crisis. About Us
Tearfund is a Christ-centred INGO, founded over fifty years ago. We have a big vision: to see all people freed from poverty, living transformed lives and reaching their God-given potential.
Our income last year was over £85m making us one of the UK’s largest humanitarian and development INGOs.
Our Approach
We have a highly distinctive and strategic approach; we do everything with and through the church. It is the church that is local, relational and long-term – present before, during and after a crisis hits. It is the church that was called by God to build his Kingdom. So it is the church that can truly bring community transformation.
And in these volatile times, with shifting patterns in funding, and in the very challenging contexts in which we work, we see a moment of great opportunity for the church.
Our role is to help the church identify and realise this opportunity. We have set ourselves the goal of enabling 250,000 churches in the countries we operate to become the transformation centres for their communities that they are called to be. The Fundraising and Engagement team will make this possible by growing our global community of people who want to enter into a whole-life response to poverty with help from Tearfund.
Tearfund’s vision and ambitious strategy has seen us embark on a process of transformation, of focusing and simplifying our structures, operating model and messaging.
