About The Phoenix Way London and South East (TPWLSE)
We are a black, brown and racially minoritised (BRM) community-led initiative working across London and South East England, with communities, groups and organisations to raise and distribute funds, transform the funding environment and build knowledge, skills and expertise in our communities. - own and control our own funding and resources.
The Phoenix Way London and South East (TPWLSE) is hosted by Kanlungan Filipino Consortium with support from the Ubele Initiative.
Job Summary
You will take a leading role in developing and strengthening the regional and sub-regional networks of BRM groups, organisations and individuals in London and South East – these networks will both benefit from and shape the work of TPWLSE. You will also focus on building and developing the capacity (knowledge, skills and expertise) of BRM-led organisations in the region to operate effectively and successfully. This work will be carried out via networking meetings, regional and sub-regional briefings, training, fact-finding/learning sessions, group support and individual one-to-one support sessions with BRM groups and organisations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and run network development events to promote TPWLSE, to generate support for and involvement in TPWLSE’s work, to develop contacts and relationships with BRM organisations, groups and communities and to enable our learning about what support and resourcing BRM organisations and communities want and need from TPWLSE and others.
- Promote national and regional Phoenix Way funding opportunities and encourage applications. Promote funding opportunities from other funders.
- Deliver a combination of in-person, online and written briefings on funding and support available to groups and organisations in the region/sub-region.
- Set up and run training and learning events for BRM groups, organisations and communities to develop the skills, knowledge and expertise they need to operate effectively and successfully.
- Signpost organisations to capacity-building support and assist them in accessing that. Work with providers of capacity-building support to enable BRM groups and organisations to access that support.
- Develop connections with a broad range of regional, sub-regional and local stakeholders in order to steer their support, funding and resources towards and into BRM groups organisations and communities.
- Help to promote TPWLSE grant-making panels; help to recruit and support national and regional grants panel members.
- Gather and share feedback about TPWLSE’s plans activities in order to inform future plans and development. Contribute towards the evaluation of TPWLSE’s work, to include data collection/analysis and reporting to our partners and funders.
- Contribute to the circulation of regular TPWLSE news updates to network members and BRM groups and organisations in the region.
Person Specification
Experience
- Significant experience of anti-racist community development work, directly with black and racially minoritised communities.
- Significant experience of developing networks and directly outreaching with communities and groups.
- Significant experience of directly providing and/or developing and supporting projects providing infrastructure and capacity building support.
- Experience of facilitating meetings and workshops.
Knowledge
- Excellent understanding of the development and support needs of small and medium-sized community collectives, networks, groups and organisations, particularly in the black/brown voluntary and community sector.
- Excellent or very good knowledge of development and support topics for voluntary and community organisations, including fundraising; financial management; strategic, business and operational planning; people management; governance and trusteeship/directorship; legal structures of voluntary and community organisations.
Skills and competencies

Community Action Redbridge is a local infrastructure organisation working to support strong and resilient communities where people lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. We are a small, friendly team based in central Ilford - just 20 minutes by train from Liverpool Street station.
The healthy communities programme aims to find new ways to promote health and address inequalities in Redbridge using community development and health creation practice.
Over the past year, our team of outreach workers and community development practitioners have engaged over 4,000 residents, helping local people build and share knowledge about health, encouraging people to take control over their wellbeing, and exploring what can improve health and wellbeing in Redbridge.
Through our activities, we have identified two communities in the borough experiencing significant inequity – the Roma community and people living in Loxford ward – along with key priority areas for developing community action initiatives.
Programme Overview 2024 - 2025
Over the next year, we will work alongside local people from the identified communities to build on their strengths and take action for improved health and wellbeing. We will achieve this by supporting local people to establish a monthly community network to:

Take practical action towards realising the future they want to see.
Through this network, we will share information about local services, groups, and activities, and offer training and support for local people to upskill and take the lead with confidence.
We will also lead the development of a Loxford neighbourhood forum where residents, community groups, voluntary sector, health (e.g., GP practices), education and social care services can come together to make connections, work together on what matters to local people, and address health and wellbeing needs in the area.
Finally, we have been re-commissioned by the Public Health department of Redbridge Council to continue delivering our TB Awareness project, raising awareness amongst communities who are at high risk of TB.
You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of projects within the Healthy Communities Programme, which includes overseeing the team and providing support for community action initiatives.

Job Responsibilities
The General Manager is integral to the management of Deptford X and the delivery and development of its ambitious programmes. Background to the post
An opportunity has arisen for a Finance Officer. The postholder will be responsible for overseeing the financial administration of the Asylum Justice office, maintaining accurate financial records and accounts (with support from the Treasurer), claiming GiftAid, and liaising with suppliers. This role will have limited client contact as the focus of the role is to lead on maintaining financial processes.
Key responsibilities and duties
The post holder will have the following areas of responsibility: -
1. Finance (90%)
a.Maintain accurate financial records, process invoices, and set up online payments for authorisation;
b.Draft monthly payroll figures to send to the accountants.
c.Work with the Funding Officer to use QuickBooks in keeping track of payments and grant fund expenditures.
d.Liaise with the Treasurer and Chair of Asylum Justice in order to produce quarterly budget reports.
e.Aid preparation of financial information and budgets for funding bids, grant reporting and audits with support from the Treasurer and Funding Officer.
f.Liaise with auditor and Treasurer for annual accounts.
g.Process GiftAid claims with support from Funding Officer.
h.Perform other financial administrative duties where necessary.
2. Operations Support (10%)
a.Assist in procuring equipment / supplies / services / travel / accommodation as required.
b.Liaise with suppliers such as our IT Consultant / case management system provider to ensure maintenance of the organisation’s infrastructure.

The Position
The Communications and Marketing team works to build the Fund’s brand presence and visibility with key audiences, delivers campaigns to grow its digital community and pipeline of individual donors, and leads on strategic communications projects to further the organization’s programmatic and developmental objectives. The team is made up of four committed individuals, not including this post, and current team members are based across the UK and US.
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Marketing Technology & Analytics Lead works to ensure that all communications and marketing activities are maximally robust, well-optimized and data driven. The post holder will provide data management, tracking, analysis, and ongoing systems maintenance and development. They will act as the lead product owner of our WordPress website, ensuring it is optimized for the best possible SEO and User Experience, oversee our email, donation, and content platforms, and work closely with our Salesforce Administrator to manage all integrations between these systems and our Salesforce CRM.

Essential Duties

- Work closely with the other members of the Communications and Marketing team, across the full range of web, paid and organic social, and email marketing, assessing analytics and technology needs and offering technical insights that can inform optimizations and future strategies

- Lead on Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing, overseeing the Fund’s Google Ad grant account and utilize it to help increase website traffic
- Manage and update supporter and transactional data to ensure an elevated level of hygiene and manage the synchronization of all data between all marketing tools and Salesforce
- Work with the Communications and Marketing and Individual Giving teams to inform the conceptualization and planning of fundraising campaigns and manage their implementation from a technical perspective, and work alongside colleagues throughout their campaigns to ensure accurate data management and analysis
