An exciting position has arisen for a Finance Officer to work for a community benefit society to provide year-end and on-going support to the finance team for up to six months.
Main duties
This position will offer variation covering many duties within Finance.
- You will have responsibility for key aspects of financial and management reporting and control to deliver timely and reliable reporting.
- You will assist the current Assistant Management Accountant, Purchase Ledger Clerk and Payroll Assistant on a daily basis.
- The post-holder will, on a regular basis, liaise directly with each finance team member and report to the Head of Finance.
- Assist in the sales ledger, which involves verifying orders and updating the finance system (Accounts IQ). Additionally sending out relevant invoices via email or accessing customer portals.
- Assist the purchase ledger, including matching invoices with purchase orders and obtaining approvals from relevant managers. This information is then recorded in Accounts IQ. Also onboarding new suppliers in Accounts IQ and verifying bank details.
- Perform credit control checks.
- Assist with the monthly payroll cycle.
- Input month-end journal entries.
- Conduct bank reconciliations.
- Assisting with month-end management accounts and reporting.
- Assist in analysing the Profit and Loss accounts.
- Assist with Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Support year-end audit.
- Any ad-hoc tasks.
- Provide timely responses to internal and external stakeholders and deal with queries in a timely manner.
- Adhere to the deliverables timetable, and maintaining a strong working relationship with the senior leadership team.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- At least 2 years experience in a similar finance role
- Experience with month and year end experience and procedures
- Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll experience
- Experience of managing multiple deadlines with a track record of delivering under pressure
- Good communication skills – written and verbal
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel knowledge
- A knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word in particular) to an intermediate level
- Microsoft Teams
- Degree educated in Finance
- Strong ability to plan ahead and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Ideally you will be AAT qualified.
- Studying towards a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), but this is not essential.

MAIN PURPOSE OF POST
Iswe is a social impact foundation dedicated to finding ways to put people at the heart of social and political decision-making to solve some of society’s greatest challenges, with a particular focus on the climate crisis.
We are looking for a Fundraising Officer to play a pivotal role in securing the financial resources needed to support our innovative work in making political systems fit for the future. The Fundraising Officer will nurture relationships with existing and prospective donors, particularly to increase donations from trusts and foundations.
This role primarily involves supporting Iswe’s leadership with key fundraising reporting and administration and secondarily with communicating with existing and prospective donors. DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising

Support the implementation of a trusts and foundations programme, with a view to increasing funding for flagship projects alongside core unrestricted funding.

Manage the reporting and administration of existing grants, advising relevant members of the team well in advance of reporting deadlines.

Assist with the organisation of fundraising events as required.
Information Management, monitoring and evaluation

The post holder will ensure appropriate means of monitoring and evaluation are established in order to feed into the fundraising team’s KPI’s.

Use the fundraising database to analyse the success rates to support the fundraising strategy.

Keep-up-to-date with new fundraising opportunities.

Take responsibility for ensuring that up-to-date records of all contacts are maintained on the fundraising database.

Contact and liaison

Purpose of the position
The primary role of the Governance Assistant is to provide administrative support to the workstreams under the Head of Governance, which include but are not limited to, annual work plan, royal charter, bylaws, elections, policies and procedures and GDPR compliance.

The Governance Assistant’s duties and responsibilities include:
Governance

Work closely with the Head of Governance to ensure the charity is compliant with regulatory requirements

Maintain a good understanding of the governance processes and requirements, and work closely with the Head of Governance to ensure they are efficiently and effectively managed

Maintain a good understanding of the implications for the role and organisation of the requirements of GDPR and other relevant legislation

Maintain a good understanding of the need for effective policies and procedures, sustained within a robust review process

Support the efficient and effective day-to-day functioning and co-ordination of the administrative activities associated with governance within the College of Paramedics

Prioritise and time manage the administrative workload appropriately to meet specific deadlines.

Support the Head of Governance on the election of trustees and member representatives as required, working with the Membership, Marketing and Engagement team and liaising with candidates, election services and incumbents.

About the Role:
As Victim Awareness Officer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering training and awareness raising activities in relation to victims of crime. The role will work closely and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley, Thames Valley Police, criminal justice agencies as well as other statutory agencies and third sector organisations across the Thames Valley.
You will lead on developing this new content for training as well as consulting with stakeholders on their training needs and mapping emerging areas where further input is required. As part of the role, you will be responsible for developing this range of training programmes and keeping training materials up to date. You will maximise the use of social media accounts for training, victim awareness and awareness of specific crime types including Sexual Violence and Modern Day Slavery. You will attend events and presentations to engage the local community and increase their knowledge on support for victims of crime. To assist delivery of your role you will recruit and support a cohort of trained volunteers to perform the roles of Criminal Justice Champions and Engagement Champions volunteers.
You will need to be able to work flexibly to accommodate the training requirements as well as experience of delivering presentations and structured training programmes and talks to a range of audiences. You will need to be IT literate and be effective with your communication.
