The Tudor Trust is a grant-making charitable trust with a long-standing commitment to funding smaller organisations and the grassroots in the UK.  The trust has an endowment of around £220 million and our annual commitment to grants has averaged £20 million. We are winding down our current grant-making and developing a new strategy to support under-resourced communities to thrive by funding organisations and the grassroots seeking racial, social and economic justice.

In tandem with our strategy review, we are undergoing a comprehensive change process to address all aspects of the way we work which includes refreshing our Board and rebuilding our staff team. This transformation also extends to revising our operational systems, policies and practices with Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at its heart. 
 

About the role

The Programme Officer is a new role at Tudor Trust and offers an exciting opportunity to lead transformative initiatives that amplify the voices of under-resourced communities and contribute to systemic change. By the end of 2024, we expect to have three Programme Officers in place. 

As a Programme Officer, you will play a pivotal role in reshaping Tudor’s grant-making approach, fostering collaborative relationships with grantees and stakeholders, and contributing to strategic thinking to drive long-term racial, social, and economic change.  

The Programme Officers together will oversee a different approach to distributing our funding, which could range from small start-up grants, long term multi-year funding, through to a big bet approach with a focus on larger scale collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Grant-making Rebuild

• Take a proactive role in rebuilding Tudor’s grant-making strategy, identifying opportunities to develop alternative networks and power-building initiatives within disproportionately disadvantaged communities impacted by discrimination.
• Hold a grant-making portfolio and work closely with grantees to develop comprehensive change strategies that foster broader societal impact.
• Build genuine and respectful relationships with organisations and leaders in the field, actively identifying potential funding relationships and opportunities for collaboration.
• Apply a JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) lens to guide funding decisions towards under-resourced groups and leaders, taking accountability for equitable decision-making.
• Building careful dialogue between Tudor’s staff, trustees and advisors to ensure all decisions are understood.
• Effectively manage budgets, ensuring funds are allocated with diligence and accuracy.

Collaboration, Listening and Dialogue

• Maintain a curious and open mindset towards potential grantees, actively listening to their perspectives and how they want to describe themselves. Continue this listening approach throughout the relationship with all grantees and support Tudor in developing an approach to ongoing dialogue that is based on learning together.
• Proactively network grantees with each other and wider stakeholders, creating spaces for meaningful dialogue through workshops and other meeting platforms.
• Collaborate with Tudor colleagues and stakeholders to develop a grant-making approach rooted in inquiry and learning, aimed at achieving sustainable racial, social, and economic change.

Learning and Strategic Thinking

• Bring insights from grant-making experiences back to Tudor, contributing to challenging and evolving strategic thinking within the organisation.
• Identify and articulate key themes emerging from grant-making activities, providing valuable insights into how social change is being achieved.
• Contribute to developing frameworks, using different methods, on how to best capture the learnings, social change and wider impacts of grantees activities.  
• Undertake research and commission studies on issues related to racial, economic, and social justice, contributing to Tudor’s deeper understanding of the wider landscape and systemic challenges.
• Assist in wider communications to amplify Tudor’s mission and impact through the website, newsletters, formal presentations and networks in the field.

Person Specification

 Experience and Knowledge

Previous experience in grant making is not essential. We will collaborate with you to define the responsibilities of the role, taking an iterative and reflective approach and we’ll keep reviewing and improving it together.

• Experience in the activist, campaigning, policy space, and/or philanthropy preferred, but not essential.
• Ability to navigate and challenge assumptions, unconscious bias, fostering inclusivity and diversity in all initiatives.
• Ability to build relationships and network with individuals from diverse backgrounds and positions within the sector.
• Proficiency in facilitating and chairing meetings, synthesizing ideas, and driving actionable outcomes.

Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. In some services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional, and social care. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices. Support is also provided to develop a model of re-enablement towards self-advocacy, self-management and empowerment, incorporating the principles and practice of recovery, co-production and peer support.

The service:

Queens road and herons court are 9am-5pm Mental health services supporting 22 low-medium need customers.

This role requires a valid Right to Work for the UK as Look Ahead are not a sponsoring organisation.

What you'll do:

If a need arises, deliver all aspects of support to enable a customer to develop independent living skills as appropriate to the individual needs of the customer. In some services, this will include delivering personal and physical care as appropriate.
Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation.
Participate in the support planning and risk management, as facilitated by the lead Support Worker.
Carry out security duties to ensure the safety of the customers and premises.
Monitor the CCTV throughout the shift.
Enable customers to make full use of community facilities by providing support as directed.
Carry out support duties to enable customers to integrate into the community including e.g. accompanying the customer to attend benefit agency appointments and meetings, go shopping, to enquire at colleges about possible courses, to visit various public amenities.
Report any observations relating to customers welfare.
Adhere to all the policies and procedures of Look Ahead Care & Support plus those specific to the project including any statutory requirements.
Ensure Look Ahead Health and Safety policies and local protocols are always adhered to.
Maintain records as required at the project under the direction of the support workers / management.
Participate in team meetings/reviews and the general development of the service.
Undertake any other duties consistent with the grade and nature of the post as may be reasonably assigned.

We are looking for an individual to join the Grants Team on an interim basis for paternity cover to help support the development and delivery of the Rothschild Foundation’s grants programmes. As a Grants Manager you will help us to identify, assess and manage grants across our funding programmes.

We manage two open access application programmes in Buckinghamshire and a wider UK programme of grant-making where we pro-actively identify organisations to work with in our areas of interest. These include culture and regenerative food systems, connecting with activity at Waddesdon Manor and Estate, the home of the Foundation. The Grants Manager role will have a particular focus on our regenerative food and farming programme, where we are funding direct delivery organisations, as well as convening stakeholders and other funders championing a sustainable approach.

We aim to be an approachable funder focused on developing strong relationships with the organisations that we fund. A big part of the role will be developing relationships with a wide range of third sector organisations and supporting them to deliver effective approaches to community needs and issues within our areas of interest.

We value the balance in our funding approach of flexibly responding to local need alongside a deep dive into the specific interests of Trustees. This combination makes the Foundation an interesting and progressive place to work and we welcome individuals with a flexible and creative approach. The current annual budget for our grants programmes is approx. £8M.

We are very happy to be able to offer flexible working with the option of part remote and part office based. Currently we ask the team to be office based on Wednesdays and as a Grants Manager we’d expect other working days to include a mixture of visiting applicants and grantees and working from home. Key Responsibilities:

Grant Programme Management

• Developing opportunities for funding by identifying and visiting applicants, supporting them to work up proposals and ensuring they meet our due diligence requirements.
• Building effective relationships with applicants and grantees, including providing constructive feedback on applications and monitoring funded activity.
• Managing external consultants and contacts in the community who are responsible for delivering projects or coordinating networks which further our ambitions in regenerative food and farming.
• Working with the Grants Team to undertake research and keep up to date with developments in the current areas of interest and future interests of Trustees, helping develop current programmes and shape future strategy. This ideally will include some understanding of regenerative food and farming systems and identifying effective organisations and approaches to support.
• Supporting evaluation of the Foundation’s grants programmes and working with the team’s Evaluation and Impact Manager (to be appointed) to develop our approach to measuring and sharing impact. This will include use of our newly developed theory of change, reviewing grantee reports and collated data.
• Producing updates for Trustees on strategic progress, including project updates and some data analysis, as well as thinking about other creative ways to tell the stories of our funding.

Networking and Advocacy

• Working closely with staff at Waddesdon Manor and on the Waddesdon Estate.
• Representing the Foundation at relevant events, networks and groups, such as the Buckinghamshire Rural Forum, Natural Environment Partnership and Bucks Funders Group which may include occasional evening events.
• Devising and delivering ways to increase the reach and accessibility of our grant-making.

Communications

• Working with the Grants Team on the Foundation’s annual grants review, website, newsletter and social media.

Special Projects

• Project management support for internally managed projects such as research and events.

IT

• Working with the Foundation’s IT systems (including Microsoft Office suite, Blackbaud database and SharePoint). We are able to offer training in Blackbaud, and SharePoint if needed and are open to discussing other training needs.

Your profile

The role will report into the People Business Partner and will be responsible for supporting the People Business Partner to deliver relevant services that are streamlined and rendered an efficient and effective services for ETF, organise and support a programme of learning and development for leadership, technical skills, soft skills, onboarding/induction and personal development, including design, delivery and engagement of external specialists and suppliers where relevant, and to oversee the ongoing improvement of online learning within ETF.

The successful candidate will have:

• Post-graduate qualification in people management or organisational development, together with current membership of CIPD or equivalent, supported by evidence of CPD. Part qualification will be considered initially, with a commitment to complete an accredited programme.
• Evidenced experience of successfully delivering a range of people development services in an efficient yet customer-focused fashion.
• Experience of building effective working relationships.
• Ability to produce and interpret a range of data to extract trends and find solutions to potential threats to staffing issues.
• Evidence of creating and maintaining accurate records in a timely manner.

Project support

• Contribute to outreach to project stakeholders, Community Members, partners & event attendees, answering and directing queries and scheduling appointments and virtual/ in-person meetings
• Organise meeting logistics, agenda preparation, notetaking, audio recording and the tracking and implementation of follow up actions and communications

Essential attributes, skills & knowledge

• Experience working in a project or stakeholder commnications role, in a highly collaborative environment such as an international NGO
• Understanding of sustainability systems and how they work to help deliver change on sustainability issues
• Experience and comfort working with subject matter of a niche or specialist nature, possibly gained through data analysis, project communications, and/or the review and analysis of data sets, academic research, technical reports, and policy documents

Building on an existing base of warm supporters, this new role will focus on raising additional grants in the region of £10,000 - £30,000 as well as helping refresh case for support materials for fundraising colleagues across Sue Ryder.

About you:

A passionate and proactive fundraiser, with experience of cultivating and securing gifts over £10,000 and the ability to create fruitful relationships in order to collect information and collate persuasive case for support briefs. You will have excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal skills and a talent for establishing rapport. You will relish connecting trust donors to brilliant projects that require funding and be motivated by the opportunity to make tailored fundraising approaches to them.

About the role:

This role plays an integral part in building and maintaining relationships both within Sue Ryder’s own service teams and a variety of external trust and foundation supporters, at all levels. It offers the role holder the chance to increase their knowledge and experience through working on a wide range of local and national fundraising propositions. With a new five-year Sue Ryder strategy in place, innovative services launching and supported by a friendly team, the role provides considerable scope for a fundraiser to develop in a successful and expanding national team.

Outreach Worker, 25 hours per week, £22,020 per annum, pro-rata

We’re looking for a family focused Outreach Worker to help transform the lives of parents and young children in Doncaster.

Working as part of a small team you’ll support families with children aged between 0 and 5 to address emerging worries, build resilience and improve the longer-term outcomes of young children.

Based in local Family Hubs, you’ll connect parents with local services designed to help their child thrive. This will include targeted support from Family Lives and the full range of early years services available from Doncaster Family Hubs and local community organisations.

Working closely with our Senior Family Support Coordinator and a small team of volunteers, you will provide support in promoting the service with local schools, Family Hubs and children’s centres. Engagement of parents and caregivers will be a key part of this role, linked to developing relationships with key local agencies to identify who may benefit from the project.

Travel within Doncaster will be required but some home-based working is possible.  The hours can be flexibly worked across the week.

You will have excellent communication skills, understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children, as well as a commitment to equal opportunities and diversity.

About the role:

The Event Coordinator will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of a portfolio of academic events, including conferences, workshops, seminars, and training courses held both in-person and online across Europe.

In this varied and busy position, you will play a key role in developing and implementing a communications and engagement strategy for Southmead Hospital Charity, overseeing and managing supporter communications, making our key messages compelling and our content engaging.

Reporting to the Charity’s Head of Fundraising and Communications, you will support the Fundraising team to deliver outstanding print and digital donor communication to maximise fundraising income, leading marketing campaigns planning for key areas of work including legacies and appeals.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of communications using the existing channels and develop new and innovative ways of engaging and communicating with Charity supporters, both digitally and in print. You will have an in-depth knowledge on how to plan, build, deliver and measure digital communications activity (internal and external) with a creative flair that brings content to life.

An excellent team player with a flexible approach, you’ll need to work seamlessly with colleagues in NBT’s Central Communications team to oversee the provision of accurate and relevant information about the Charity to supporters, ensuring the Charity’s messaging complements and enhances that of the Trust.
