Key Responsibilities

The Role

As the Head of Individual Giving & Supporter Engagement, you will be instrumental in developing and executing an ambitious growth plan to maximise Individual giving income and supporter engagement. Managing an income responsibility of circa £1 million, you will lead and motivate a talented team of three fundraisers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and execute ACT’s supporter engagement and Individual Giving strategies, producing annual plans to drive an ambitious step-change in acquisition and retention.
• Oversee and drive growth across all individual giving streams, including appeals, digital, lottery, regular giving, and the face-to-face fundraising programme.
• Utilise data analysis, segmentation, and performance metrics to evaluate, pivot, and optimise campaign success and supporter journeys.
• Manage six-figure budgets, financial reporting, and forecasting to maximise the lifetime value of donors giving up to £10k.
• Ensure excellent cross-team collaboration with communications, data, and community teams

Experience Needed:

• Proven track record of success at a senior level within individual giving/direct marketing with clear demonstrable results of delivering on supporter and income growth.
• Expert knowledge of creating and delivering compelling fundraising communications across a range of channels, including digital.
• Strong experience managing six-figure budgets and utilising detailed financial analysis to maximise results  
• Comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements, including practical application of GDPR legislation.
• Proven leadership and team development skills with the ability to manage multiple projects ensuring deadlines are met

About the Role

As Major Gifts Officer, you will support delivery of agreed activity within the Major Gifts Team, successfully cultivating and stewarding a portfolio of mid-value individuals and trusts and delivering a range of agreed projects. Working closely with the Major Gifts Managers, you will evolve and continuously improve supporter stewardship and cultivation activity in line with their capacity and propensity to donate, continuously evaluating performance.

OCD-UK is entering an exciting new chapter as we look ahead to the next phase of our growth. We want to develop, strengthen and future-proof our fundraising income – and that’s where you could come in as our new Fundraising Development Manager.  This is a unique opportunity to lead income generation at a pivotal moment for our charity and to shape how we fund our work in the years ahead, you will expand our ability to generate income from our community fundraisers.

Role purpose

The Senior Challenge Fundraising Officer will lead the delivery and growth of APF’s third-party and mass participation challenge events portfolio.

This role exists to significantly grow income and participation by managing end-to-end third-party challenge events, developing community-facing charity-owned fundraising products and delivering excellent supporter stewardship

Working closely with the Head of Fundraising and colleagues across Communications, Services and the Operations Team, you will increase recruitment, empower supporters to raise ambitious funds, and create journeys that encourage long-term engagement with APF.

Key Responsibilities

1. Grow participation in third party

• Manage the full lifecycle of third-party and mass participation challenge events, from planning and recruitment through to stewardship and re engagement.
• Develop and execute creative marketing strategies to boost participation and attract new event participants.
• Draft engaging promotional content that inspires and engages our supporters in collaboration with the Communications team.

• Create clear re-engagement plans to encourage repeat participation and long-term loyalty.
• Collaborate with wider Fundraising and Services teams to support acquisition and ensure our supporters have a smooth, high-quality supporter journey.
• Represent APF publicly when required, acting as a confident ambassador for the charity at events and in public settings.

5. Data, insight and compliance

• Support on the management of CRM data to enable accurate segmentation, performance tracking and reporting.
• Monitor recruitment, participation, income and ROI to help inform future planning and improvements.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge with GDPR regulations and compliance and ensure personal data is handled responsibly and securely.
• Work closely with the Governance and Operations Manager to ensure our fundraising activities are fully compliant with GDPR and the Code of Fundraising Practice.

The role will lead the creation and delivery of Community Fundraising and Legacies programmes, establishing two core income streams that will drive sustainable growth. It will define strategy, build insight-led, multi-channel programmes and design supporter journeys that deepen engagement over time, from first gift to long term support and legacy giving.

Working across the organisation the postholder will embed a strong supporter focus, ensuring that fundraising is integrated into wider engagement activity. You will take ownership of income performance, budgets and continuous improvement through data, testing and learning.

As the Head of Philanthropy, you will inherit a successful philanthropy area of fundraising for the organisation and will lead the team in securing major gifts and multi-year commitments across the individuals and trusts & foundations income streams. The postholder will join and at a brilliant moment of momentum for the organisation to secure income across the 2030 strategy period.  The Head of Philanthropy will also work closely with the Director of Development to ensure gold-standard stewardship for our high-value donors, coaching and developing line reports to ensure income generation targets are met across trusts, foundations, and individual donor income streams.

To be successful as the Head of Philanthropy will be an experienced leader and fundraiser, confident in securing new business through active prospecting and networking and ingrained knowledge of how to secure and steward HNWIs and trusts & foundations. This will ideally have been done at the six-figures-plus level and you will have significant experience in working with senior leaders and volunteers to cultivate meaningful relationships, steward HNWI, trusts, and foundations, and deliver robust prospect pipelines.

This role is a maternity cover contract position that will have hybrid working in the London offices for at least two days per week, for up to 14 months. The salary for this role is £60,000 to £72,000.

As Marketing & Communications Manager, you will lead and deliver dynamic, integrated marketing and communications activity that raises awareness, strengthens our brand, supports fundraising growth and positions Prostate Cancer Research (PCR) as a trusted and influential voice in prostate cancer research and patient advocacy. 

Working across the organisation, you will bring campaigns, stories and partnerships to life through compelling content, proactive media outreach and audience-focused communications. From coordinating awareness campaigns and celebrity engagement to developing press releases, managing digital channels and responding to media opportunities, this is a varied, fast-paced role with real impact. 

You will play a central role in ensuring PCR remains visible, relevant and influential, helping us reach new audiences, inspire supporters, amplify patient voices and ultimately drive change for men affected by prostate cancer.

Key Responsibilities  

Marketing & Communications 

• Deliver integrated marketing and communications activity across the charity, ensuring consistency of messaging, tone of voice and brand identity.
• Manage and maintain the organisational communications calendar and messaging hierarchy.
• Support the development and delivery of high-impact campaigns, awareness activity and organisational announcements.
• Create engaging content across digital and print channels including website copy, email communications, campaign assets and supporter materials.
• Coordinate and support social media activity in collaboration with colleagues.
• Support internal communications activity to improve collaboration, awareness and information sharing across teams.
• Lead the planning and coordination of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month activity annually.

Media & PR 

• Work closely with our external media agency to develop and deliver impactful media campaigns. 
• Draft press releases, media statements, briefing documents and reactive comments as needed.
• Support proactive media outreach and identify opportunities to secure media coverage and raise PCR’s profile.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with journalists, media outlets and external partners.
• Monitor the news and identify opportunities for PCR to contribute expert comment and thought leadership.
• Provide out-of-hours media support, including responding to journalist enquiries where required.

Brand, storytelling & ambassadors 

• Uphold and strengthen PCR’s brand identity across all communications and platforms.
• Manage and grow PCR’s ambassador, celebrity and case study programmes.
• Identify, recruit and steward compelling patient stories and supporter case studies.
• Support photography and video shoots to ensure content is impactful, inclusive and aligned with the brand.
• Work closely with ambassadors and celebrity supporters to maximise engagement, visibility and campaign impact.

Cross-organisational support 

• Partner with fundraising, research, patient projects and influencing teams to deliver coordinated communications support.
• Develop marketing materials and storytelling assets to support fundraising campaigns, partnerships and events.
• Identify opportunities for greater collaboration, integration and impact cross-organisationally.
• Support the delivery of a future brand review and refresh project if required. 

Skills and Competencies

• Experience in a marketing, communications, PR or media role, ideally within the charity, healthcare or not-for-profit sector.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create compelling, audience-focused content.
• Experience drafting press releases, media materials and digital communications content.
• Strong understanding of media relations, storytelling and brand communications.
• Experience managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
