We are seeking a seasoned fundraising professional with a passion for making a meaningful impact on some of the poorest children in the world. We are on the lookout for an experienced, organised and well-networked individual to join our team and drive our growth by identifying and securing grants from a diverse range of Trusts and Foundations in excess of £120,000 per annum.
We are a team of passionate volunteers in the UK and Tanzania who are dedicated to alleviating the extreme poverty that thousands of children in our partner communities face. In 10 years, our team of volunteers have fundraised over £700,000 (approximately 50% of which has come from Trusts and Foundations) and empowered over 25,000 children through our work.
The need for our support in Tanzania, whether that’s constructing new classrooms, delivering menstruation programmes or installing clean water, is growing. We have active partnerships with 9 rural government schools with engaged communities and have several projects planned at each school. We need help from the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser to raise the funds to implement these projects over the next few years alongside our other sources of income.
Specific responsibilities:

Managing our existing portfolio consisting primarily of Trusts and Foundations giving between £5k-£50k

Write compelling, concise, well-presented, tailored grant applications in Google Docs.

Research and develop new trusts, foundations and corporates.

Report on progress of current prospects through the fundraising cycle

Work with the Founding Director with reporting to Trust and Foundation funders that you’ve had success.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all fundraising activity, including proposals, applications, and donor interactions

Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the charity’s activities and programmes to be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders and potential funders
Knowledge, skills & experience required

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a grant fundraising role, with a successful track record of regularly securing 4 and 5-figure grants.

Excellent attention to detail.

Knowledge of funding databases and other sources of potential funders

Proven organisational skills with experience in managing multiple tasks and prioritising effectively.

Excellent and engaging written communication skills and ability to adapt style to suit a wide range of supporters.

Confident interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including diplomacy and negotiating skills.

Ability to deal with people at all levels and from a wide range of backgrounds.

Flexible, can-do attitude and good team player

Ability to work independently to general guidelines, with the capability to use initiative and seize opportunities.

Strong IT literacy and adept in making funding applications online. Training will be provided in Slack/Canva but must be familiar with MS Office and Google Suites

Fundraising Manager
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Fundraising Manager to implement the fundraising strategy for an important charity.
Position: Fundraising Manager
Location: Remote with some travel required for in-person meetings and events
Hours: Part-time, 28 flexible hours per week
Contract: 12-month fixed-term contract with opportunity to extend
Salary: £35,200 per annum for 4 days per week
Benefits: 3% employer & 5% employee pension contribution, 24 days personal annual leave, plus bank holidays, with additional discretional leave days at the convenience of the organisation, remote working, and staff development through training and coaching.

About the role:
The purpose of the Fundraising Manager’s role is to develop the role and fundraising strategy of the organisation. You will support the CEO with creating the role, strategy, systems, and activities of income generation for the organisation. You will lead in securing funds from trusts and foundations through grant applications and develop the individual giving campaign as well as leading the growth and future development of new income streams from individuals, corporate partnerships, and other sources. Within all of this, you will oversee the strategy to grow the Fund HER pot of funds that are growing to distribute to women candidates preparing for future elections.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Work with the CEO throughout the contract to design the role of Fundraising Manager as we develop strategy, systems, and activities within the parameters of a 28-hour working week.
- Develop a fundraising and business development strategy, including individual giving, third sector and statutory bodies to move us towards greater sustainability and diversity of income streams.
- Develop a specific Fund HER strategy to build the pot of funds for us to distribute to women candidates preparing for future elections.
- Work with the CEO and wider team to organise any income generation events as articulated in the strategy.
- Achieve agreed grant income targets through writing successful grant applications and tenders.
- Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of funders and their criteria, through the ongoing research of potential trust and grant funders.
- Maintain excellent relationships with current funders and develop strong relationships with new and prospective funders to prompt ongoing and increased giving.
- Work closely with the CEO to ensure that funders receive accurate outcomes and impact-focused reporting information within agreed timescales.
- Develop, maintain, and update the organisation’s grant funding database.

You will be process-orientated with a proven track record in project management. You’re a team player but have an entrepreneurial spirit running through your veins which means you transform an idea or a brief into something new and innovative.
You will be a proactive, efficient, and organised individual with excellent coordination and administration skills You will be based in Britain, happy to work remotely and travel to in-person meetings when required.
Essential Criteria:
- Experience in fundraising leadership and identifying new funding opportunities.
- Experience in fundraising and strategic planning.
- Track record of relationship development with funders.
- Track record of effective reporting to funders.
- Achievement of personally agreed fundraising targets.
- Experience in working successfully on multiple projects at the same time.
- Up-to-date awareness and understanding of non-profit fundraising.
- Knowledge of legislative frameworks and good practices that support fundraising management.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentational communication skills.
- Ability to utilise a wide range of management skills and techniques to ensure the effective use of resources and so enable successful project delivery.
- Ability to prioritise workload, plan and organise and ensure that deadlines and agreed targets are met.
- Ability to work independently and use own initiative.

Peer Support Worker (Southern Gambling Service)
£24,021 - £26,001 pro rata, per annum (as from 1st April 2024)
22.5 hours per week (ideally over 3 days)

About the role
In partnership with Southern Health Foundation Trust, Solent Mind has an established Peer Support Team throughout Southampton’s Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), Primary Care Networks (PCNs) & Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Services. We are looking to recruit a Peer Support Worker with lived experience of Gambling Disorder for the newly formed Southern Gambling Service based at College Keep in Southampton. This exciting new role will be mainly based online; however, you will be working within a multidisciplinary team and reporting to an established Senior Peer Worker working within Southampton.
About you
As a Peer Support Worker, it is essential you have lived experience of the mental health difficulties associated with gambling disorder and understand the key concepts of recovery. Working as a part of the Peer Support Team within Southampton, you will need to have the confidence and skills to work with NHS staff at all levels and to work with service users with a range of ages and needs. The ability to travel is essential for this role as although you will mainly be based at home, you will be required to travel into Southampton on a regular basis to attend team meetings and one-to-one reviews.

Charity Operations Manager
About Thyroid UK
Thyroid UK is a charitable organisation working to inform and support people living with thyroid disorders in the UK and campaigning on their behalf for the right tests to diagnose thyroid disease and to have a choice of treatment options.
The provision of quality information for people with both diagnosed and undiagnosed thyroid disorders is the primary concern of Thyroid UK, and we work effectively in this field through dialogue with NHS departments, networking with other voluntary organisations, and providing services directly to patients. We work to encourage scientific research for the education, alleviation, care, treatment and cure of thyroid disease and seek to influence public health policy for the benefit of people affected.
Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking a Charity Operations Manager to run the smooth, effective operation of the organisation so we can best support people in the UK living with thyroid disease. This is a management role leading on all operational activities, supporting and working in close collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Salary will be reviewed after an initial 6 month probationary period.
This role involves minimal supervision and is responsible for the day to day running and management of the charity.
General office management:
· General secretarial and administrative support including routine office tasks where needed
· To manage all operational activity of the charity according to the strategic direction provided by the Board of Trustees
· To be responsible for all aspects of staff and volunteer management, including recruitment, training and supervision
· Collaborating with other team members to ensure that information flows effectively
Support the CEO:
· Foster good relationships with other charities, organisations and research groups; supporting beneficiaries; liaising with patrons, medical advisers and trustees to support continued engagement
· Plan, market, manage and organise/deliver our projects such as conferences, webinars, surveys etc. to meet our strategic goals
· To ensure the financial sustainability of the charity by identifying and securing appropriate funding that supports the charity in achieving its objectives.
· To lead on trust and corporate fundraising to ensure our income streams remain stable and sustainable.
· Draft, proofread and publish the quarterly member magazine
· Draft and send our E-news to our beneficiaries
· Development of the website
· Management of IT systems
· Recruit, manage and supervise our volunteers
· Recruit and line manage staff
· Maintain and update the suite of governance policies to ensure
Thyroid UK is compliant with legal requirements and, where possible, best practices
· Identify opportunities to improve policies and procedures
· Prepare the annual report and other necessary documents and send to the Charity Commission and Companies House
Support the Board:
· Set Board meeting dates; preparing Board meeting papers, agendas and minutes, and liaise directly with Board members, in close collaboration with the CEO
· Contribute to the development and long term strategy of the charity providing regular reports to the board of trustees
· GDPR compliance in the role of GDPR Officer
· The role will require attendance at Board meetings that take place on Saturdays quarterly with one in London per year
Skills required to be successful in this role include:

Peer Worker (Community Mental Health Team)
£24,021 - £26,001 pro rata, per annum (as from 1st April 2024)
Role 1 = 37 hours per week and Role 2 = 18.5 hours per week

Working in partnership with our NHS colleagues, Solent Mind are providing Peer Support from within Community Mental Health Teams across Southampton.
This role includes:
- Working with community mental health team colleagues to identify service users that may benefit from peer support and plan work accordingly in a collaborative, person-centred way, including on entry and discharge to/from the service.
- Working with people in one-to-one and group settings, including managing your own caseload of service users, to support their recovery and build support networks.
- Supporting people to develop and use a range of skills and techniques to help their wellbeing.
About you
It is essential that you have your own lived experience and have a key understanding of the role of peer support in mental health as well as the ability to manage your own time with competing priorities taking responsibility for your own work and accountabilities.
