Role overview To manage a range of community fundraisings projects and mid value fundraisers, provide excellent supporter experience to all, meeting agreed KPIs and objectives. Children with Cancer UK Children with Cancer UK is a leading children’s cancer charity dedicated to raising and investing funds into vital specialist research to save the lives of children with cancer. Our mission is to improve survival rates and the quality of survival in young cancer patients and to find ways to prevent cancer in the future. The Community Fundraising Team The Community Fundraising Team at Children with Cancer UK raises just under one million pounds annually. Our community fundraisers take on their own fundraising activities or taking part in one of our fundraising products. The community fundraising team is part of the wider fundraising team which has a number of established fundraising events, individual giving campaigns, sports events and corporate supporters

About us:

Colostomy UK is a national charity that offers support and advice to people who have had stoma surgery (ostomates) and to their friends, families and carers. Our projects empower ostomates to return to sports, hobbies and other activities after their surgery and give them the confidence to take on fresh challenges. We advocate for ostomates’ rights and are their voice on the bigger issues. Our campaigns raise awareness of life with a stoma and encourage organisations to make their facilities more inclusive.

About the role:

As the Fundraising Executive you will work to grow income through developing our community engagement, attracting, building and managing relationships with a range of supporters (individual donors and fundraisers, community groups, local businesses, volunteers etc). You will lead on the stewardship of events and challenges, including our annual Step Up campaign, by supporting individuals and groups to raise funds through fundraising activities. The post-holder will also support the recording of donations, send appropriate acknowledgements, review fundraising materials, and prepare fundraising content for social media, our website and our quarterly magazine, Tidings.

You will be joining a collaborative and innovative team of individuals who put our community first and are connected by a passion to make a real difference. Practicalities:

This role may involve occasional overnight stays, early mornings, evenings and weekends so some flexibility is a must.

Ideally you will work regularly at our head office in the first few weeks in post to aid a successful induction period. Following this, you may continue to be office-based full time, or work on a hybrid or remote basis.

We are looking for a motivated, confident individual with strong organisational skills and an impeccable attention to detail, who is passionate about supporting people living with stomas and those who care about them. The successful applicant will be expected to have a broad understanding of a range of income generation methods and communication styles, and the third sector. Previous experience is desirable, not essential.

Core role responsibilities

 ·Working alongside the Fundraising Manager to implement the fundraising strategy, with a focus on building unrestricted income

·Donor stewardship, including recording and thanking for donations, and other supporter communications, to encourage long-term, repeat support – engaging existing supporters, making them feel valued, proud, and committed to supporting the charity

·Working with our supporters to organise and host interesting activities and events in the community and digitally, to significantly increase fundraising income; ensuring excellent support of their activities during planning and delivery, and arranging attendance from the Colostomy UK team and volunteers as appropriate

·Preparing appealing fundraising materials and content for all types of communications

·Representing and raising the profile of the organisation externally by giving presentations and promoting the need for fundraising among different audiences

·Working with the Marketing & Social Media Executive to ensure fundraising is included in our public-facing communications, to supporters and audiences on social media, in newsletters and on other channels; ensuring our website, social media channels and print material are kept up to date with fundraising news and activities that inspire engagement and giving

·Supporting fundraising with analysis and reports to enable us to continue to build and improve our profile; monitoring engagement and conversions from different fundraising campaigns

About you

Ideally you will already have experience in an administration or customer service role and looking to start a career in fundraising. You will be looking for 20-37.5 hours a week and can work flexibly including some evenings and weekends to support at fundraising events. 

Main duties of the job

• Provide support to the department on a range of administrative tasks including, dealing with enquiries (postal, telephone, email, face to face), opening and sorting post.
• Work to build excellent relationships with donors to provide a high standard of customer care.
• Process one-off and regular donations ensuring procedures are followed and information is recorded correctly onto the database and thank you letters are sent.
• Work with cancer centre volunteers to support the team with administration tasks.
• To undertake specific fundraising projects and attend events as necessary or as required to support the department’s fundraising.
• To assist the fundraisers with administration of staff lottery, raffles and prize led promotion and fundraising as required.
• Support all fundraising activity and represent the charity at internal and external events.
• Manage ‘Gift in Kind’ donations and our ‘Gift in Kind’ Campaigns.

Development / Fundraising Assistant

As an integral member of the fundraising team, you will be based at Maggie’s Manchester and you will assist in delivering a wide range of operational and administrative support, as well as social media activities.

Your responsibilities

• First point of contact for enquiries from community audiences and suppliers.

• Respond to enquiries from the public, volunteers, fundraisers, etc. (by phone, mail and in person), including responding to requests for information, materials and more.

Main duties and responsibilities:

IT

· Ensure all staff have IT equipment from their first day of work, ensuring that they are able to access the IT support they need with minimal interruption to daily tasks.

· Keep a record of all IT equipment, key information and renewals due.

· Be the first point of contact for IT provider, leading on Cyber essentials & annual IT audit.

· Lead on the implementation of strategic IT goals.

· Support the Continuous Improvement Officer to find new ways of working and ensure we stay up to date with emerging IT trends.

Data

· Maintain organisational databases, ensuring all data is accurate, meaningful, and compliant with the requirements of current and potential funders, as well as Upbeat’s policies and procedures for data.

· Liaise with Data consultants to manage workflow of data requests.

· Present data in a useful manner for stakeholders.

· Play a key role in the organisation around GDPR and Data Protection.

· Be responsible for the confidential maintenance of service user records and other relevant documents in line with Data Protection legislation (e.g. data protection impact assessments).

Facilities

· Support with office management processes (ordering stationery and equipment).

· Support in the efficient use of premises (organise key holder rota, complete regular checklists).

· Support with risk management and Health and Safety compliance (risk assessments, checklists, PAT checks).

Administration

· Provide administrative support to the charity’s projects (topping up payment cards, phone lines, donation admin).

· Assist with organising and monitoring staff training.

· Assist with the review and writing of policies and the staff handbook.

· Assist with process mapping across the organisation.

Other

· Make an active contribution to the overall work of Upbeat Communities through team meetings, staff training, awareness and fundraising events, and any other appropriate activities.

· Be committed to, and work in accordance with Upbeat Communities’ values and ethos, as well as adhering to all organisational policies and procedures.

· Participate in relevant networks and forums to assist in the work of this role as part of individual and professional development.

Person Specification:

Experience

· Experience of supporting IT systems.

· Experience maintaining & improving an organisations Cyber Security position.

· Experience using data for reports and presentations.

· Experience of using a range of online platforms for managing data and information.

· Experience of using Microsoft Office, (Outlook, Word, Excel).

· Experience of office / resource management.
