RESPONSIBILITIES

Research and evaluate new funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, and other grant funders, maintaining a 12-month funding calendar.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Experience

Proven experience and success in developing and drafting proposals and/or reports raising funds from trusts, foundations, other grant makers or the equivalent.

The team has an exciting future and this role will play a key part in its success.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Individual Giving team and support the development and growth of the programme. The role will involve developing engaging content to communicate the importance and impact of our work, inspiring existing and new supporters to commit to long term support of the charity. This will involve printed media but also increasingly digital media as we look to widen the reach of our communications and messaging. It will also require excellent supporter care/donor retention skills to ensure that we make sure we maintain our donors support over the long term and experience working with databases, ideally Raiser’s Edge. Main purpose of the role
Reporting to the Fundraising Manager, this post will lead on the development and delivery of Thrive’s community and public fundraising whilst working collaboratively with the rest of fundraising team to maximise and develop opportunities over various income streams.

The Community Fundraising Officer will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with community groups, schools and other organisations fundraising for Haven House Children’s Hospice. Colostomy UK is a national charity that offers support and advice to people who have had stoma surgery (ostomates) and to their friends, families and carers. Our projects empower ostomates to return to sports, hobbies and other activities after their surgery and give them the confidence to take on fresh challenges. About the role:
As the Fundraising Executive you will work to grow income through developing our community engagement, attracting, building and managing relationships with a range of supporters (individual donors and fundraisers, community groups, local businesses, volunteers etc). You will lead on the stewardship of events and challenges, including our annual Step Up campaign, by supporting individuals and groups to raise funds through fundraising activities. In the role, you’ll be:
- You’ll be building relationships with a wide range of individuals, community supporters, networks and local groups to fundraise and build awareness of Stonewall Housing’s mission, with a particular focus on Birmingham-based individuals and organisations.
- Working with the Development Officer and Community and Events Fundraising Specialist on community fundraiser stewardship, where you’ll be providing support to individuals and groups fundraising for Stonewall Housing through their own events or running and challenge activities.

You will receive comprehensive and bespoke Stonewall Housing training in how to best deliver these sessions.
- Supporting the Development Team and the wider organisation by taking part in external panels and speaking engagement opportunities, confidently representing the work of Stonewall Housing.
- Developing new compelling cases for support both for individual donors and for broader fundraising activities.
- Using data and evidence to monitor KPIs and track trends, helping the Development Team make informed decisions.
- Supporting the wider Development Team with the day-to-day running of fundraising, comms, and awareness activity.
Your experience:
· Experience of developing and enacting ambitious strategic plans for a fundraising area (this could be Community Giving, Events, Individual Giving, Corporate Giving, or similar).
· Demonstrable understanding of implementing best practice to fundraising activities.
· A track record of building positive and prosperous relationships with supporters.
· Experience of developing engaging supporter journeys.
Your skills and attributes:
· Confident and enthusiastic public speaker, at both in person or virtual events.
· A creative problem solver with a solutions-focussed outlook.
· Excellent team player who likes to get stuck into new tasks and action groups.
· Organised, efficient and driven.
· Up-to-date knowledge of website donation tools (e.g. JustGiving etc).
· Computer literate in Excel, Word and Outlook.
· Working knowledge of best practice and the compliance and financial issues around fundraising (Gift Aid, GDPR etc).
Great to have, but not essential!
· Experience in delivering training to organisations, networks or community groups.
· Experience in coordinating fundraising events.
· Experience of managing projects remotely, including using tools such as Trello.
· Proficiency in using a fundraising CRM package (we use Donorfy).
As with all members of Stonewall Housing’s Development Team, the postholder will also:
· Be an adept and nimble multitasker who relishes being busy and can keep multiple plates spinning.

· Be required to support the wider Stonewall Housing team when needed, to ensure the smooth running of the organisation.
· Join Stonewall Housing’s All Team meeting in person (held near Liverpool Street Station) once per month.
· Be able to travel occasionally around the UK for key events.
· To work as part of a mostly-remote team, embracing online communication and collaboration tools.
· To receive regular supervision from the line manager and attend training courses as required.

The Individual Giving Fundraiser will play a vital role in increasing income from our existing supporters. You will support donor acquisition as well as taking the lead on retention of our supporters across multiple channels including cash appeals, regular giving, lottery and in celebration giving. The role will also support the Head of Income in the delivery of a legacy and major donor program.
You will develop and deliver excellent stewardship programmes that drive retention by deepening audience understanding of the challenges that people affected by cleft face and the impact that their donations make. Using data and insight, you’ll deliver compelling campaigns, with people affected by cleft right at the centre. You’ll use creative tools and techniques to demonstrate impact and inspire future action.

We’re looking for a proactive Community Engagement Officer with an eye for detail and a can-do attitude who is willing to learn, grow and take ownership of this newly created and unique role.
You’ll be a warm and friendly communicator, both verbally and in writing, and be excited about raising support and awareness for SSR’s work with those affected by scoliosis.
As the Community Engagement Officer, working with the Community Engagement Manager you will manage relationships with regular donors and support individuals to fundraise effectively for SSR as well as thanking fundraisers and donors.
You will work with the Community Engagement Manager to support our wider fundraising efforts by providing administrative support.
A significant part of your role will be to respond to Helpline enquiries, either by phone or email. You will be the first point of contact. Training will be given on this.
You will also handle liaising and looking after our members and processing new membership applications.
You’ll work closely with the Community Engagement Manager on any events. The yearly ‘Scoliosis Awareness Day’ event, along with the Zorab Symposium which takes place every three years and any patient meetings that take place.
You will need to be able to travel to the office at least one day a week. Days worked can be agreed to suit the successful candidate.
You will need database experience. We use E Tapestry, but Raisers Edge or other charity database experience is relevant.
There is scope to take greater responsibility across all areas of the job description depending on your experience and personal development ambitions and there may be scope for increased hours as the role progresses.
