One of the nine members of the Coram group, Coram Children’s Legal Centre (CCLC) is the UK’s specialist centre for children’s rights in education, immigration, community care and family law, and provides significant international legal systems consultancy. The centre is located on the Coram Campus in central London with bases in Colchester and Leeds. We champion access to justice through information and advice, legal practice and representation, policy and strategic litigation. Our Legal Practice Unit provides advice and representation primarily under legal aid contract. Our Migrant Children’s Project promotes the rights of refugee and migrant children, young people and families through the delivery of advice, practice change through training and capacity building to professionals and systems change through research, policy and advocacy.

About the role

This role will provide financial and operational leadership and management for CCLC particularly focussed on the Legal Practice Unit and the Migrant Children’s Project but with support for the Child Law Advice Service and Coram International where required. Managing a small finance team, the role will hold primary responsibility for core financial functions within CCLC including legal aid billing and management and tracking of grant and other charitable funding. Through systematic and efficient financial management, the post holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial sustainability. The role will act as a key point of contact with Coram’s central finance team and a range of internal and external stakeholders on financial matters.

The role will also oversee the smooth running of the London and Colchester offices through line management of operations and administrative staff.

The role would suit a high organised and efficient business support professional with experience of financial management within the legal or charity sector. In particular, candidates with experience of legal billing and more specifically, civil legal aid billing, would be welcomed.

This is a largely office-based role in order to fully provide support to the finance and operations team. However, some remote / hybrid working may be possible depending the experience of the candidate after the initial settling in period (to be negotiated with the successful candidate).The finance team are split between the London and Colchester offices and the post holder should expect some travel to both locations. The large majority of the legal and policy team are based in London and as such regular (at least twice weekly) presence in our London office will be expected. However, on other days the candidate could be based in the London or Colchester office.

Whilst this is a full-time position, we will consider requests for part-time working (28 hours per week minimum) and we will endeavour to offer some flexibility with days and hours to be agreed.

The Role

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the leadership team of a specialist charity for children and adults subjected to sexual violence and sexual abuse. You will be responsible for supporting the Chief Executive in meeting strategic objectives surrounding the provision of compassionate, timely and trauma-informed CYP counselling and wellbeing support; establishing and nurturing supportive relationships with partner CYP organisations; supporting the team in collective care to grow, flourish and develop in their roles and continue leading the charity as a reflective and responsive organisation. Your role will also involve impact and evaluation, communications and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a mixed pipeline of national partners and prospects including researching, making approaches, applications, and stewardship activities.
• Coordinate and support fundraising campaigns and events for partners.
• Responsible for welcoming, assisting and responding to enquiries AAUK receives over telephone, email, and post.
• Responsible for thanking national supporters, adapting, and personalising templates as needed to deliver high quality thank you letters in a timely manner.
• Enter and maintain accurate records on our fundraising database, Donorfy including financial information and to proactively identify how to improve processes.   
• Provide general administrative support across the team as required.

We're looking for a passionate individual to provide advocacy to Disabled people living in Norfolk. The purpose of this role is to:

To provide comprehensive advocacy to people facing disabling barriers, with a non-judgemental approach to ensure that individuals can make informed decisions about their lives.

Work to empower people to make their own, informed decisions and support them to have their voices heard.

To offer issue-based advocacy to disabled people in the community in areas such as social care, mental health, housing and child protection. 

Principal tasks:

● Providing information, advice and advocacy on a range of issues affecting people who face disabling barriers, currently including:

o Mental health care

o Support to access treatment and support services

o Personal budgets and direct payments

o Discrimination and employment issues

o Child protection proceedings

● Being an independent voice for clients.

● Working alongside clients to challenge institutions, organisations and bad practice where needed.

● Visiting clients either at home or in the community and working within Equal Lives’ lone working policies and procedures.

● Communicating with clients in the method that feels most comfortable and accessible for them. This could be via phone calls, emails, letters, video calls, face to face meetings or a combination of all of these.

● Building relationships in order to understand and effectively advocate for people who may not use words to communicate or may find it difficult to express themselves.

● Effectively managing a case list and maintaining comprehensive and up to date case management records using appropriate software and ensuring follow up requirements are carried out in a timely fashion

● Contributing to the provision of induction and training of other staff including volunteers within the service.

● Developing strong working relationships with relevant organisations and institutions to ensure that the needs of clients are met.

● Working as part of the advocacy team and developing a supportive team culture.

● Keeping up to date with relevant legislation, policies and practice relevant to the role.

Location: Community based in Suffolk, excluding Waveney, with some homeworking elements. 
 
Contract: Fixed term contract till March 2025. 
 
Hours: 21 Hours per week over 3 days.

About the role

We are recruiting a Dementia Adviser to work 21 hrs /3 days a week predominantly in West Suffolk.

The Dementia Adviser role requires you to work passionately to provide advice, support and guidance to people living with dementia and their family members/carers, often in their own home.

You will provide reassurance, support and guidance at any stage of a person’s dementia journey.

You will build and establish good working relationships with external organisations to continue to increase reach and build inclusivity, including pre-diagnostic support.

- We are looking for someone who is caring, compassionate, professional, and empathetic. Someone who can empower individuals with dementia, their carer’s and others to live well with Dementia.
- The successful candidate will support our service users to learn about dementia and the services, communities, and agencies around them.
- You will support people to live well with Dementia and to plan for the future.
- You will have professional curiosity, be a great motivator and demonstrate versatile communication skills.
- You will be ready to learn about Alzheimer's Disease and other forms of Dementia and to promote the important messages around good brain health, early diagnosis and living well.
