Role Purpose

The Community Engagement Manager (Maternity Cover) role will be a critical piece of our Community Programmes team, which provides support to founders at every stage of their startup journey. The Community Programme offering includes a roster of events including panels, masterclasses and workshops, as well as mentoring and coaching opportunities, and peer-to-peer engagement opportunities. We work with an exciting range of partners across the private and third sectors to connect underrepresented founders to networks and capital that will help launch and grow their mission-driven businesses.

We are looking for a driven, process-oriented self-starter who is interested in a role that will expose them to a variety of activities across the Community portfolio. As the Community Engagement Manager, you’ll work directly with the Co-Head of Programmes to ensure the systems we need are in place to support the team to deliver their support offering and that we are constantly learning and evolving our programme offering from Founder feedback and engagement.

You’ll be responsible for developing and delivering programmes and events for the graduate community, as well as contribute to our community engagement strategy – helping us to set up new aspects of our programmes and collaborating with programme managers and coordinators across the portfolio to contribute to a more engaged community of entrepreneurs.

Responsibilities

Graduate Community Engagement

• Maintain the community engagement strategy for enhanced engagement between founders and a more cohesive founder journey across all stages
•  Maintain the end-to-end design and management of the founder experience in the graduate community platform (Circle)
• Helping founders to widen their networks and facilitate connections that can provide critical support and direction via our graduate community platform
• Work collaboratively across the Programmes team to ensure entrepreneurs who engage with Hatch are connected to the best programmes, resources and offers for them
• Maintaining a list of partnership perks for the  community
• Understanding both founder needs and partnership opportunities and coordinate the creation of  relevant resources, content and perks to meet these
• Attend ecosystem events and speak on behalf of Hatch, and engage the wider team in doing the same
• Helping to ensure consistent relationship management and communication with partner organisations

Programme delivery and development

• Reviewing existing insights and conducting research to refine existing and new peer-to-peer programmes for Hatch founders and graduates
• Engaging mentors, experts and facilitators, where applicable, to support with the leadership of peer-to-peer programmes 
• Planning, facilitating and evaluating networking opportunities for founders to build and foster  community engagement
• Developing and managing  support  opportunities for our graduates to increase their access to capital, contracts, and connections
• Working collaboratively with Marketing and Communications team to drive engagement through founder and graduate communication channels
• Managing the content strategy and maintenance of the Resource Hub, to ensure accessibility of content for founders outside of a cohort programme

Systems and administration

• Maintaining the KPI tracking system to record programme founder participation, feedback and learning outcomes
• Feeding into the development of a new CRM system to help us better manage our founder and partner relationships
• Supporting the development and maintenance of our calendar of activities, showcasing engagement opportunities to our founders and the public
• Reviewing and suggesting improvements and innovations  to systems and implementing system changes

Monitoring and evaluation

• Supporting the collection and collation of feedback from volunteers, mentors and founders in order to monitor and improve participant experience
• Working with the Fundraising team to report on Community Programme KPIs, anecdotal feedback, and to support with the generation of case studies, for funder reports and fundraising pitches
• Collecting and analysing relevant data for the resources webpage, graduate community platform, as well as keeping up to date with any relevant tech updates and training required for monitoring the data

Other 

• Gaining and maintaining in-depth knowledge and understanding of Hatch’s work, priorities and future plans and acting as a spokesperson for the charity when required
• Representing Hatch externally at speaking  and networking opportunities

Emmaus Greenwich is a unique charity that offers a home, work and individual support to people who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion. We don’t just give people a bed for the night; we offer a home, meaningful work and a sense of belonging.

At the heart of Emmaus Greenwich is our companions. Companion is the name given to those who live in an Emmaus community and contributes to the social enterprise, where they support themselves and one another. GRT are looking for an experienced, passionate and delivery focused Finance Manager to join our team in Birmingham. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial one-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. The Finance Manager will be responsible for preparing financial statements, overseeing monthly management accounts, managing payroll operations, handling accounts payable and receivable, and preparing the annual budget.

Main Responsibilities:

· Ensuring that financial and accounting services adhere to legal standards and contribute to the smooth operation of GRT activities.

· Annually reviewing and updating of all finance related policies.

Gympanzees is a multi-award-winning Bristol-based charity. Our mission is to ensure all children and young people with a disability have access to regular exercise, play and friendship. We aim to open multiple exercise and play facilities around the country – the first of which will be in Bristol. As the Grants and Statutory Funding Manager, you will be pivotal in securing appropriate grants to meet our annual grant income target at Gympanzees. This position is ideal for someone with proven experience in researching and crafting successful grant applications. ROLE SUMMARY
The Global Grants and Engagement Manager is responsible for managing the Grants Programme of ProVeg International and leading the activities and staff within the ProVeg International Grants team. You will ensure the global grantmaking of ProVeg International aligns with its mission and goals, while also engaging with key players in the global plant-based movement, and raising funds for the Grants programme and other movement-building activities.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Grants Programme :

• Team-lead for ProVeg Grants team, including direct line management of Grants Programme Manager.

• Oversee quarterly grantmaking process, including reviewing and evaluating proposals, and providing recommendations aligned with ProVeg International’s grantmaking criteria.

• Ensure that all grantmaking is aligned and approved by all decision makers, including CEO, funder network, and Board Members. 

• Oversee the team to ensure that all grants admin is fulfilled, including due diligence, and payment processing aligned with US regulations; accurately tracked grant records; queries are responded to timely, etc.

• Oversee and optimise grantmaking process infrastructure, and regularly implement improvements as needed.

• Oversee and optimise further capacity building initiatives developed for global grantee network

 

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Research and identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, donors, and other sources aligned with ProVeg's mission.

• Collaborate with internal teams to develop engagement strategies for stakeholders including donors, grantees, and supporters.

• Build and nurture relationships with existing and potential donors, foundations, and funding organisations to cultivate support for ProVeg's programmes and initiatives.

• Represent ProVeg at meetings, conferences, and events to promote our mission and establish strategic partnerships.

• Develop and oversee strategies to engage with individuals and organisations through digital platforms, including social media, email campaigns, and virtual events.

Strategic Development:

• Continue to develop the Strategy of ProVeg Grants Programme in alignment with ProVeg International’s global strategy and the wider plant-based advocacy/food system transformation movement.

• Ensure alignment, communication and collaboration across ProVeg International’s wider network and global initiatives.

Monitoring and Reporting:

• Track and evaluate grant programme’s performance against established goals and objectives, providing regular updates to stakeholders.

• Prepare timely and accurate reports for funders, highlighting project achievements, impact, and financial accountability.

• Monitor Grants Programme budgets, expenditures, and timelines to ensure effective utilisation of funds and compliance with funder requirements.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in grantmaking and donor relations in the nonprofit sector is a must.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as nonprofit management, international development, communications, or related field). Master's degree preferred.

• Highly organised and able to translate complex ideas into tangible and actionable tasks.

• Proven track record of successfully securing grants from diverse funding sources.

• Strong communication skills, including exceptional writing and editing abilities.

• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders.

• Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

The Margins Project, Union Chapel’s Frontline charity, work with people who are homeless or who are at risk of homelessness and helps address pertinent social justice issues these communities face.

The charity runs three integrated programmes:

• a community drop-in programme providing access to nutritious hot meals, and limited access to showers & laundry services.

• advice and engagement programme providing one-to-one as well as group advice service on benefits and housing, and onward referrals to pertinent services.

• support employment programme offers a paid catering training to 10 people who have had experience of homelessness, substance misuse, mental ill-health, and or imprisonment.

Our range of services are designed to help guests (service users) at varying stages, from having no roof over their head to getting back into employment.

This role offers an opportunity for an experienced adviser to help shape and evolve Margins services. Experiences on the ground at the drop-in programme inform the charity’s strategic direction. The role will involve expanding our partner network to link into pertinent statutory and other charitable organisations that provide services that will help our guests with their housing, substance misuse, recidivism, and mental health challenges.

We work closely with people on an individual case work basis to get guests off the streets, into hostels or temporary accommodation where possible, and work with private and social landlords on a range of issues. We support and represent the people we work with on the phone and in person, including at the council, the doctors, the job centre, and benefits tribunals.

Our drop-ins run on Mondays and Wednesdays 11:00am to 1:00pm where attendance is currently from 65 to 75 guests. The advice and engagement worker works more intensively with smaller numbers of up to 20. The demand for more follow up work and advocacy support has been increasing over the last two years and this in-house advice worker is critical for this demand.

Working collaboratively with the Drop-in Community worker (currently vacant), the head chef, and a small group of dedicated volunteers, you will be responsible for the support of a caseload of guests, some with complex needs, and will undertake key work responsibilities including registering the guests, identifying their housing, benefit and personal needs and conducting all necessary follow ups including occasional advocacy support, where deemed necessary.

Purpose of Job:

• To advise and assist guests (service users) with benefit claims and related issues, e.g., Housing Benefit, DLA, PIP, Income Support, ESA, Universal Credit, and other benefits. In particular, assisting them to claim Housing Benefit and UC to reduce risk of rent arrears.

• To develop significant contact and liaison with comparable housing and benefits advice organisations.

• To encourage guests engage with Margins activities, and where practicable, with the wider Union Chapel activities.

• To develop, facilitate and deliver group advice workshops/training programmes and open discussions forums to engage guests who historically do not engage with Union Chapel.

• To Refer Margins guests to relevant internal and external services.

• In liaison with the head of Margins and the chef to refer potential candidates to Margins’ Supported Employment Programme.

The Advice and Engagement Worker will have an active role in identifying and engaging guests as well as referring potential candidates to the Supported Employment Programme, a programme anticipated to expand beyond its current services in Margins catering.

Key Duties:

• To encourage and assist guests achieve the maximum income from benefits to which they are entitled to, and to refer to relevant support services such as mental health, social services, community support.

• To advise guests on basic budgeting and where applicable to refer to Tenancy Support Officers or outside agencies for more complex help.

• To liaise closely with local authorities, social, and private landlords to try to achieve the best outcome for our guests.

• To identify if the guest is accessioning the right benefit that will support their long-term wellbeing.

• To support newly arrived refugees with their housing and benefit advice needs.

• To actively assist guests with formal appeals against Local Authority, DWP and HMRC decisions regarding benefit entitlement. Representing at Appeal Tribunals.

• To signpost guests to resources that can assist them in finding work.

• When needed, signposting guests to specialist providers in mental health or drug and alcohol support services.

• To Support guests on paying their rent, including providing advice on benefits and debt management.

• To Address breaches of occupancy agreements and develop strategies that would prevent and avoid eviction.

• To assist guests with backdated claims for Benefit by supporting their applications through to completion.

• To ensure all guests’ files are up-to-date and that data is captured on our management system.

• To provide written reports and statistics as and when requested.

• To attend supervision, training, and meetings as and when required.

• To provide advocacy support to guests as and when required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

About the role

This role will provide financial and operational leadership and management for CCLC particularly focussed on the Legal Practice Unit and the Migrant Children’s Project but with support for the Child Law Advice Service and Coram International where required. Managing a small finance team, the role will hold primary responsibility for core financial functions within CCLC including legal aid billing and management and tracking of grant and other charitable funding. Through systematic and efficient financial management, the post holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial sustainability. The role will act as a key point of contact with Coram’s central finance team and a range of internal and external stakeholders on financial matters.

The role will also oversee the smooth running of the London and Colchester offices through line management of operations and administrative staff.

The role would suit a high organised and efficient business support professional with experience of financial management within the legal or charity sector. In particular, candidates with experience of legal billing and more specifically, civil legal aid billing, would be welcomed.

This is a largely office-based role in order to fully provide support to the finance and operations team. However, some remote / hybrid working may be possible depending the experience of the candidate after the initial settling in period (to be negotiated with the successful candidate).The finance team are split between the London and Colchester offices and the post holder should expect some travel to both locations. The large majority of the legal and policy team are based in London and as such regular (at least twice weekly) presence in our London office will be expected. However, on other days the candidate could be based in the London or Colchester office.
