The Finance Systems Analyst is a newly created role which will have responsibility for the efficient running and maintenance of ClientEarth’s finance systems, including Access Focal Point- which has been in use for over five years and Workday Adaptive Planning, a new system for the organisation. This role is required due to the rapid growth of ClientEarth and investment in new systems. You will provide essential support for current finance processes, suggest improvements to those processes to maximise their value and provide input into systems strategy for the finance department into the future.
Meet your Manager
In this role, you will be managed by Catherine Adams. A finance professional for thirty four years, Catherine has had a career of two halves, first in the corporate sector working for BDO Binder Hamlyn, Boots UK, Waterstones and Tesco and then in the Charity sector, gaining an MSC in Charity finance from Bayes Business school, working for MSI Reproductive Choices and joining ClientEarth in 2021. As Head of Finance, Planning and Analysis, Catherine manages a team of ten business partners supporting the programme and core staff in their vital mission to use the power of the Law to bring about systematic change to protect the earth.
Main Duties
Systems improvement and efficency

- Supporting the Head of FP&A with the Workday Adaptive modelling and build to enable value added performance review and reporting in line with organisational strategy.
Systems Administration

- Administrator for Workday Adaptive and Focal Point to include maintenance and regular review of users, user profiles, password management.
Role requirements
- An accounting qualification – part or full or qualified by experience
- Previous experience working in a finance team, able to demonstrate an understanding of financial processes (essential)
- Experience with Access Focal Point and Workday Adaptive or similar finance systems (essential)
- Experience working with and reporting from large databases and an understanding of data structures (essential)

About the role
Smart Works are looking to appoint an exceptional Finance Manager to join our finance team at a time of significant growth for the organisation. Working closely with the existing finance team of four, the Finance Manager will play a crucial role in safeguarding the financial health of Smart Works Charity and its network of eleven centres across the UK.
The Finance Manager will ensure financial systems and processes are followed, financial tasks are completed before deadlines and key stakeholders receive the financial information they need to make sound decisions.
An important part of the role is to build excellent working relationships with non-financial employees working across Smart Works, so that information needed by the finance team is obtained in a timely fashion. The successful candidate will also identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.

Duties and responsibilities
- Comply with all financial systems and control processes for Smart Works.
- Support the Director in completing submissions, filings and returns completed in a timely manner. This includes supporting the successful completion of the annual audit and production of statutory accounts.
- Produce monthly income and expenditure reports, balance sheets, management accounts and the production of financial board papers for Smart Works Charity and each local centre.

Personal Specification
Essential Criteria
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA part qualified (or equivalent, e.g. AAT qualified).
- A strong accounting background, with significant experience working within a finance function.

- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Working alongside SCoL's national Finance Manager, the holder of this role will be fully accountable to the Country Director of SCoL, and relevant leaders within Street Child, for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of all key functions of SCoL's finance department.
Secondly, from a long-term development perspective, this position will take a lead in optimising all aspects of SCoL's finance capability - with the goal of developing a robust 'best in class' department with optimal systems, processes and structures and personnel in place at all levels.
The absolute definition of success for this role-holder would be that whenever their time comes to move on, perhaps in 2025 or 2026, there is no need for this role to be replaced, with the SCoL finance leadership and team well placed to effectively discharge all their key duties without the need for the type of assistance envisaged by this position.
The professional challenge inherent in this role, and the importance of its success is well appreciated by Street Child leadership and this role will be closely supported from multiple angles - in particular by Street Child's Senior Finance Manager for West Africa, Africa Finance Director, Global Finance Director and HQ Finance team - as well as the Freetown-based Head of Sierra Leone / Liberia Programmes and Global Programmes Co-ordinator.
Part 1: Role Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to lead improvements in the financial management of Street Child of Liberia (SCoL), a national education and child protection organisation with nationwide presence and annual budget of up to $1m. The role holder will also manage Street Child’s financial reporting and compliance requirements in delivering programmes in Liberia.
The role will have dual reporting lines to Street Child’s West Africa Regional Finance Manager and Street Child of Liberia’s Country Director, with oversight of Street Child of Liberia’s finance team, and a close working relationship with SCoL SMT and Street Child’s Monrovia based Programmes Manager and Freetown based Head of Sierra Leone / Liberia Programmes.

Part 2: Key Responsibilities:
1) Development and implementation of robust financial management and reporting systems to facilitate accurate donor reporting, strong budget management and transparency for budgeting. (40%)
- Ensure that all staff are using the QuickBooks finance system in place at Street Child of Liberia to provide accurate and timely recording of transactions – providing training, review, support and direct input as needed.
- Ensure that all month end processes are carried out in a timely manner including month end closure processes, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and generating reports
- Providing reliable donor reports, Budget vs Actual reports to the Director and Programmes staff to facilitate good planning and anticipation of any changes needed to programmes delivery.

This is a varied, proactive and fast-paced role responsible for day-to-day coordination of local and regional projects and partnerships and providing direct support to food banks in your local area. About the role

About the role
This role will provide financial and operational leadership and management for CCLC particularly focussed on the Legal Practice Unit and the Migrant Children’s Project but with support for the Child Law Advice Service and Coram International where required. Managing a small finance team, the role will hold primary responsibility for core financial functions within CCLC including legal aid billing and management and tracking of grant and other charitable funding.
