We are looking for a motivated, creative, and organised Engagement and Communications Officer to join our team. This role is a unique opportunity for someone with a passion for building a fairer legal system through impactful events, engaging member outreach, and powerful communications. Working alongside the Director of Development and the Head of Communications, this role will work across teams to maintain and strengthen engagement through events, communications and corporate outreach. The Development Officer will be responsible for all aspects of daily fundraising activities for Epic’s key segments of donors (high net worth individuals (HNWI) and intermediaries, entrepreneurs, corporations), including building and managing a database of new leads, outreaching and nurturing.

1. Contribution to Epic’s Fundraising Strategy in the UK

The Trust’s Estates
The Trust owns and manages over 9,000 hectares of land and property made up of mainly let farmland but also 584 hectares of woodland, houses, cottages and a growing commercial portfolio. Land is owned in six counties: Buckinghamshire, Cumbria, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Leicestershire and Oxfordshire. These rural landholdings are managed for income return and capital growth, whilst seeking ways to improve the environment and important habitats, evolving and protecting the landscapes.
Active management dictates that we are constantly looking for new opportunities and ways to evolve and improve our income stream in support of the Trust’s overall charitable object, which is education. Main Responsibilities
· Develop and implement the company’s development strategy including (but not limited to):

· Work in partnership with the company’s Communications and Marketing Manager to engage donors, prospects and key stakeholders with the company, moving from purely transactional relationships to ones based on emotional connection and commitment
· Work with the company’s Executive Team to cultivate new supporters and strategic delivery partners with which to develop and grow the company’s work both within the UK and Internationally
· Work with the company’s Community Programme Manager to cultivate new opportunities for support

PERSON SPECIFICATION
This role would suit someone with a proven track record in collaborative new business development from concept and research to delivery; ideally in an environment working with local authorities, NHS, DWP, health bodies, and/or grant institutions. We are also looking for an exceptional communicator with strong verbal and written influencing skills across various levels of seniority. Our ideal candidate will have a strong commercial acumen, including sales and negotiation expertise, and a good understanding of the financial principles applicable in the charity sector. The successful candidate will be expected to uphold and embody the values of Twining in all aspects of their work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead and support the creation of high-quality bids and funding applications, including finalising technical questions and method statements.
· Manage the administrative components of the tendering process.
· Conduct research to identify income opportunities related to the employment and mental health offer.
· Build and maintain networks with local health, social care and employment agencies.
· Stay informed about procurement practices and commissioning trends in London and nationally.
· Contribute to the shaping of Twining’s development strategy by identifying growth opportunities.
· Participate in events to position Twining as a thought leader in relevant sectors.
· Assist with the mobilisation of successful tenders, ensuring a smooth transition from award to contract initiation.

· Aid in the re-development of existing services to secure additional funding and/or efficiencies.

How you will make a difference
As Business Development and Engagement Manager within the Workplace Mental Health & Training team, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth, partnerships, and engagement from corporate and community settings for both Mental Health UK and Rethink Mental Illness. You will work to secure funding from a wide range of sources, including commercial activity, public sector contracts and grant funding, to allow our work to continue and grow.
Working in our National Programmes team, you will ensure that we evaluate, plan for and respond effectively to bids and tenders, lead on the development of proposals, and support service delivery teams in implementing successful tenders/proposals. You will manage a Senior Business Development Officer who supports our work in positioning the organisation to respond to new bids and tenders and, where required, support the implementation of new services.
