We are seeking a Legacy & Major Donor Lead to join our cause.
Created as part of investment in the Trust’s fundraising capacity, this exciting new role will take the lead on our crucial legacy and major donor income streams as we strive to achieve transformative income to support nature’s recovery across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
What you’ll be doing:
Leading on all operational aspects of these income streams and inputting into strategy with the Senior Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager, you will have responsibility for growing the Trust’s legacy, mid-level and major donor fundraising.
With support from colleagues across the department and wider Trust, you’ll provide stewardship to a portfolio of mid and high-value relationships, cultivate and secure new donors, and act as a champion for this crucial area of work across the organisation.
About you:
You will be an experienced fundraiser with outstanding communication skills and strong technical legacy skills and knowledge, as well as in-depth knowledge and track record of success in growing a major donor programme. You’re a proactive, positive and confident fundraiser with the experience and expertise to take the lead across our legacy and major donor income streams.

This role will be based at our office in Curdridge, however, we are happy to accommodate a hybrid working routine, and discuss a pattern of work which mutually suits the candidate and the Trust. Traditionally, office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm with an hour lunch break. We value spending time working in-person to develop strong connections with each other and with our mission, so we although we offer hybrid working, we do not offer full home working within our roles.

Marketing & Communications Manager Role
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the voice, profile and public presence of one of the UK’s leading prostate cancer charities at a pivotal moment in its growth.
As Marketing & Communications Manager, you will lead and deliver dynamic, integrated marketing and communications activity that raises awareness, strengthens our brand, supports fundraising growth and positions Prostate Cancer Research (PCR) as a trusted and influential voice in prostate cancer research and patient advocacy.
Working across the organisation, you will bring campaigns, stories and partnerships to life through compelling content, proactive media outreach and audience-focused communications. From coordinating awareness campaigns and celebrity engagement to developing press releases, managing digital channels and responding to media opportunities, this is a varied, fast-paced role with real impact.
You will play a central role in ensuring PCR remains visible, relevant and influential, helping us reach new audiences, inspire supporters, amplify patient voices and ultimately drive change for men affected by prostate cancer.

Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications
- Deliver integrated marketing and communications activity across the charity, ensuring consistency of messaging, tone of voice and brand identity.
- Manage and maintain the organisational communications calendar and messaging hierarchy.
- Support the development and delivery of high-impact campaigns, awareness activity and organisational announcements.
- Create engaging content across digital and print channels including website copy, email communications, campaign assets and supporter materials.
- Coordinate and support social media activity in collaboration with colleagues.
- Support internal communications activity to improve collaboration, awareness and information sharing across teams.
- Lead the planning and coordination of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month activity annually.
Media & PR
- Work closely with our external media agency to develop and deliver impactful media campaigns.
- Draft press releases, media statements, briefing documents and reactive comments as needed.
- Support proactive media outreach and identify opportunities to secure media coverage and raise PCR’s profile.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with journalists, media outlets and external partners.
- Monitor the news and identify opportunities for PCR to contribute expert comment and thought leadership.
- Provide out-of-hours media support, including responding to journalist enquiries where required.
Brand, storytelling & ambassadors
- Uphold and strengthen PCR’s brand identity across all communications and platforms.
- Manage and grow PCR’s ambassador, celebrity and case study programmes.
- Identify, recruit and steward compelling patient stories and supporter case studies.
- Support photography and video shoots to ensure content is impactful, inclusive and aligned with the brand.
- Work closely with ambassadors and celebrity supporters to maximise engagement, visibility and campaign impact.
Cross-organisational support
- Partner with fundraising, research, patient projects and influencing teams to deliver coordinated communications support.
- Develop marketing materials and storytelling assets to support fundraising campaigns, partnerships and events.
- Identify opportunities for greater collaboration, integration and impact cross-organisationally.
- Support the delivery of a future brand review and refresh project if required.
Skills and Competencies
Our ideal candidate would have the following:
- Experience in a marketing, communications, PR or media role, ideally within the charity, healthcare or not-for-profit sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create compelling, audience-focused content.
- Experience drafting press releases, media materials and digital communications content.
- Strong understanding of media relations, storytelling and brand communications.
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience managing social media and digital communications channels.
- Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, journalists, ambassadors and external stakeholders.
- A proactive, creative and solutions-focused approach with the confidence to spot opportunities and act on them.

About the role
We are recruiting for a Proposition Development Manager to join on a permanent contract. The full-time working hours for this role are 35 hours per week, however we are open to receiving applications from people who would like part-time hours with a minimum of 21 hours per week required (0.6 FTE). This is a home-based role, with occasional travel required for in-person team meetings and events.
As Proposition Development Manager, you will develop compelling and engaging propositions that will strengthen our ability to reach ambitious income and growth targets. This role will work collaboratively with the Senior Proposition Development Manager to meet with teams across the Society to understand key plans, impact models and budgets for our future work.
By utilising good copywriting skills, you will craft these propositions into compelling narratives for high value fundraising. You will work in collaboration with other teams, including working closely with fundraisers from across Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy to support their aims.
Additionally, you will spearhead key projects that improve the rigour and effectiveness of our teams, whilst working closely with the Corporate, Philanthropy and Development teams, alongside Research and Service teams, to drive meaningful propositions that inspire support.
Interviews for this role have been provisionally scheduled to take place via MS Teams on Wednesday 24th June.
About you
Joining us, you’ll have demonstrable experience of utilising propositions for a high value audience, in addition to a track record of producing engaging and persuasive written copy that can inspire an audience. You’ll have demonstrated an understanding of the needs of high value audiences, including corporate partners, philanthropists, trusts, foundations and legacy supporters.
Crucially, you’ll be an effective problem-solver with the ability to use your organisational and prioritisation skills to manage projects effectively. You’ll have experience of proactively building relationships with stakeholders across different teams to ensure effective collaboration, with the ability to influence and negotiate to achieve required outcomes.
What you’ll focus on:
- Working closely with the Senior Proposition Development Manager to develop a range of compelling funding propositions that support the income and growth ambitions of the High Value Partnerships and Legacies Directorate.
- Utilising supporter data and information to create compelling fundraising propositions, spotting gaps and opportunities to write up current activity into inspiring communications, as well as leading on resources for newly launched projects.
- Building internal networks to allow you to translate Alzheimer’s Society’s activity into compelling resources that articulate the need, solution, budget and impact of our work.
- Proactively sharing information about ‘priority propositions’ in a range of formats, including by facilitating working groups and on team-wide webinars.
- Building relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation, including in Research, Dementia Support and Partnerships (Services) and Campaigns and Influencing, to understand priorities and work closely with key stakeholders to decide how activity can be packaged up.
- Working collaboratively with Corporate, Philanthropy and Legacy teams to understand supporter needs and the role propositions can play in enabling Alzheimer’s Society to reach our ambitious income goals.
