We are looking for a Gifts in Wills Officer to join our team to support with the stewardship and retention of our gifts in Wills enquirers and pledgers, and the further marketing of this important income stream. With gifts in Wills making up around 80% of our income it is crucial for our ability to move towards a future free from arthritis, and this role plays a key part in making sure our pledgers have a brilliant experience with us and understand the impact that their incredible gift will have for people with arthritis. As part of the gifts in Wills team you will sit within the wider Public Fundraising department, a collection of teams who are curious, collaborative and ambitious in our work to grow our income and impact.

About the role

Recently shortlisted for the Excellence in Stewardship Legacy Giving Award, the gifts in Wills team put our supporters at the heart of everything they do. This role is a varied one that collaborates with colleagues and supporters daily. That could be working with our innovation team to maximise marketing opportunities to our Inspire product members, ensuring our website content is a powerful call to action, or working with our supporter journey team to plan an exceptional welcome journey for new gifts in Wills enquirers. You will also be a key point of contact for our supporters, stewarding one-on-one via email, phone or in person, and also working on mass impact communications to retain their support. The role

The Armed Forces Project Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Armed Forces and Veteran Community Projects.

The post holder will have knowledge and experience of outreach/engagement, as well as experience of planning and running events and projects. The role requires flexibility and multi-tasking, as well as confidence to complete varied tasks as delegated. The role requires the coordination and chairing of working group meetings and representing the organisation at armed forces events and steering groups.

Overall, duties will differ according to the requirements of the HWE operational plan. Key accountabilities

· To work with HWE staff, and especially the Senior Management Team, to support the delivery of high quality and well-organised HWE Armed Forces Projects. This includes:

o Plan and deliver the Armed Forces Working Group online and in person meetings.

o Plan and deliver the Primary Care Network Armed Forces Working Group online and in person meetings.

o Evaluate and report on impact of the working groups.

o Enhance the attendance of the working group meetings.

o Be a point of contact for the armed forces and veteran community within Essex.

o Make connections and report on impact delivered through collaborative working.

o Ensuring that projects/events are evaluated appropriately, that outcomes are monitored, and that feedback is captured and provided to stakeholders.

Person Specification

The post holder will be highly organised, and an engaging and effective communicator, with good written and verbal skills. You will be capable of building effective relationships with individuals and organisations, including volunteers, and will be comfortable and highly capable in planning, coordinating and delivering different projects and events. You will have a high regard for the sensitivities of working within health and social care and be able to demonstrate a commitment to advancing the interests of patients, service users and the public within the changing landscape of health and social care.

Lead a national charity at a pivotal moment of change and make a life‑changing impact for individuals and families affected by rare craniofacial conditions. 

Headlines Craniofacial Support is a UK-based charity providing information, advice and support to individuals and families affected by craniosynostosis and other rare craniofacial conditions.  The charity works closely with professional partners, including the 5 NHS Designated Specialist Craniofacial Units across the UK.

Craniosynostosis is a condition where two or more of the plates in the skull fuse prematurely, requiring medical support from a young age. Around 350 children are born with craniosynostosis each year in the UK.

Established by group of parents in 1993, Headlines now has over 2,500 members.  Within our charity offer we send out regular newsletters and an annual magazine, Headline News.  We also support families to connect through events such as an annual Family Weekend, conferences and Days Out, and provide information through our helpline and access to psychological support.  We have private social media groups and specific groups within our membership who meet regularly including Cranio Dads, Young Persons Network and a Teens Group.

After 8 successful years, our current Director will be retiring in 2026 and we are now seeking an enthusiastic, inspirational and proactive individual to take up the reins.This is a rare opportunity to lead a well-established, respected national charity at an important moment of transition.

Strategic priorities for us, moving forward, include increasing our fundraising activities to ensure sustainability of the charity alongside the smooth running of our core activities in providing support, facilitating research and raising awareness.

Key responsibilities

The Executive Director will hold day-to-day responsibilities, working closely with the Chair and Trustee Board to provide effective leadership and operational management of the charity. Specifically, they will:

• Act as an ambassador for the charity, liaising with members, health professionals and with wider community and provide day-to-day management of Headlines staff and activities, setting objectives in line with the operational plan.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, data protection and other legal, statutory and regulatory requirements and responsibilities.
• Work on behalf of and with the Trustees to deliver the charity’s mission, goals, operational plans and long-term strategy,  and act as a positive leader and role model, managing and motivating Headlines staff,
• Ensure effective financial management of Headlines working closely with trustees and the treasurer to ensure financial security and appropriate allocation of funds.
• Manage and enhance the event programme to meet charity objectives, including identifying and meeting members’ priorities and raising awareness of craniofacial conditions.
• Develop opportunities for collaborative working and partnerships with other organisations for the benefit of people with craniosynostosis and rare craniofacial conditions.  This also includes work overseas, predominantly in Europe with our medical and charity partners.
• Oversee communications and marketing activities to raise the profile of Headlines, its work and the needs of its members.
• Identify opportunities for growth, developing projects and keeping policies relevant, to enhance and expand the work of Headlines.
• Be responsible for generating funds through innovative and cost-effective fundraising activities and grant applications to maintain the long-term success of the charity.

Person specification 

Essential criteria

• An understanding of the importance of the charity’s values and priorities.
• Evidence of inclusive, innovative and proactive leadership, with demonstrable experience of fundraising and income generation.
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills with experience organising events and activities.
• Experience of successfully managing budgets and developing new and sustainable funding streams.
• Excellent organisational, presentation and communication skills and the ability to write reports for public consumption and for statutory obligations.
• A high level of digital literacy skills with an understanding of online technology and the application of social media.
• Proven track record in managing, leading and motivating staff and volunteers.
• Willingness to operate a hybrid model of working with most work taking place from home, working remotely with stakeholders and across the UK/ internationally for specific events.
• Experience of working within the charity sector, ideally at a management level and/or within  financial management of the charitable sector, with sound knowledge of the relevant legal requirements and regulations applicable to a charitable organisation.

Desirable criteria

• Experience of working effectively with a Chair and Board of Trustees.
• Experience of working for a health-related organisation.
• An awareness of the principles of inclusivity, accessibility or experience of working with individuals with visible differences.
• Degree or equivalent.
• Experience of commissioning research and liaising with research bodies.

Other information

Headlines hosts events and fundraising activities throughout the whole of the UK. All Headlines staff are expected to work flexibly to support those activities as required, e.g. attendance at Annual Family Weekend, conferences, member events, supporter receptions and other related scientific meetings and conferences. This may occasionally require travel and overnight stays. In addition, all staff are expected to be self-servicing in terms of administration and basic digital skills. Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in executing a new face-to-face fundraising programme, including creating materials, scripts, and supporter onboarding journeys.
• Manage and grow in-memory giving initiatives, developing engaging supporter communications and stewardship strategies.
• Support delivery and analysis of multi-channel direct mail appeals, working with content creators and segmentation data.
• Maintain accurate supporter records within the CRM system, ensuring compliance with GDPR and data governance policies.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver engaging campaigns and provide administrative support for fundraising activities.
• Contribute to other projects such as merchandise and lottery initiatives as required.

Person Specification:

• Proven experience in individual giving, including delivery of income streams like regular or in-memory donations.
• Familiar with managing supporter data in CRM systems, ideally Donorfy, with a good understanding of campaign tracking and reporting.

Key duties and responsibilities

The post holder will:

-Plan and deliver multi-channel marketing for Mind's physical activity & mental health work, creating impact across the sector - from grassroots to elite sport They will also look after media and PR activity as well as the development of programme materials. The role will also be expected to maximise athlete and celebrity involvement.

-Plan and deliver multi-channel marketing for Mind's trauma-informed young people programme. They will create compelling content that drives awareness, engagement and action. They will deliver against clear KPIs. This includes reaching 100,000 young people (11-24) with trauma information.

-Across both programmes, this role will manage campaign delivery (timelines, budgets, KPIs and risk), track performance and use insight to improve results,

-Our trauma informed support programme is funded by Mind corporate partners. Our physical activity programme is funded by corporate partners and Sport England. Working collaboratively with partners will be an essential part of the role.

-This role must promote inclusive, anti-racist and trauma-informed practice. They need to make sure campaigns reach priority audiences and are co-designed with people with lived experience.

About this role

As a Project Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the planning, delivery, and evaluation of projects that help bring the Carers First Strategy to life—enabling us to reach more carers and improve the support we provide. This role is funded through the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund as a Fixed Term contract for the life of the project until September 2028.
