Job description

Location Human Rights Action Centre, London EC2A 3EA

Hours per week 35; fixed-term until December 2020

Salary details £44,247 per annum

Closing date Tuesday 29 October 2019 at 12:00

Interview date 13 November 2019

Communications are crucial to Amnesty International’s success. And as our organisation expands, they’re becoming more important than ever. This role will place you at the heart of our operations, where you’ll have the chance to shape our communications strategies, your department and the role. If you want to have a direct impact on the profile of Amnesty International UK, this is your chance.

About the role

This role is a fixed-term maternity leave cover until the end of December 2020.

Working right across the organisation, you will oversee and implement our overall integrated communications plan. You will work closely with our many different departments, providing them with communications and marketing guidance, contribute to communications project briefs and take charge of the integrated communications calendar. Your understanding of our brand will be critical and you will make sure that it is being used and applied properly, upholding brand consistency. You’ll work closely with our Digital, AV and Design Managers, making the most of our resources to help create compelling, accessible and well co-ordinated campaigns.

About you

With experience in communications planning (not necessarily the charity sector), you’ll be an organised and level-headed professional. You can manage agencies, budgets and projects, taking a systematic approach to planning, monitoring and review. Your knowledge covers the full range of modern communication techniques. Crucially, you’re articulate, with a gift for negotiation. You’ll be dealing with a wide range of people within and outside the organisation, so you must be adept at influencing and collaborating with others.

About Us

Our aim is simple: to bring the world closer to a place where human rights are enjoyed by all. Independent, international and influential, we campaign for justice, freedom and truth wherever they’re denied. Already our network of over seven million members and supporters is making a difference in 150 countries. And whether we’re applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations, human rights education, or online campaigning, we’re all inspired by hope for a better world. One where human rights are respected and protected by everyone, everywhere.
