Job Background
We are looking for a Head of Fundraising who can work with the service delivery team to link earned income into the Fundraising Strategy, secure both unrestricted and restricted income and through grants, trusts and foundations as well as with corporate partners and individual donors. You will work collaboratively with teams across the charity and won’t be phased by the inevitable challenges that this will bring, or the constantly changing environment that the charity will be operating in the next few years.
In this pivotal role UKHarvest is seeking a strategic Head of Fundraising to lead the charity’s efforts in generating vital financial support and building meaningful relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders. You will have a proven track record designing and implementing fundraising strategies that achieve revenue targets and have the charity’s ethos at the heart of everything you do.
Main Objectives
With responsibility for the Fundraising at UKHarvest, the post holder will:
- Research and manage a pipeline of trusts and foundation applications that offer restricted and unrestricted funding.
- Write applications, using information and expertise from colleagues as necessary.
- Identify new fundraising opportunities from a range of sources, including national and local government; individual supporters and commercial opportunities.
- Organise, plan and implement a fundraising strategy, yet be flexible enough to adapt to changing priorities and deliver against tight deadlines when required.
- Lead and manage the process of reporting to existing funders and Trustees.
- Nurturing relationships with existing supporters and partners.
- Align fundraising campaigns using your excellent communication skills to deliver broader organisational messaging and branding.
- Demonstrate excellent writing skills and attention to detail, capturing beneficiaries’ experiences and the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
- Embed a culture of fundraising and effective storytelling throughout the organisation.
- Organise and lead regular fundraising meetings with the CEO.
- Proactively improve the processes and optimise the use of the CRM system to record funding opportunities and track income against targets.
- Develop strong relationships with all departments and at all levels across the charity.
Required experience
The successful applicant will have at least 5 years fundraising experience as a Head of Fundraising, managing and leading a fundraising team. A strategic thinker with the ability to identify opportunities, set priorities and drive results, you will have experience in developing and sustaining funding streams using a variety of techniques to secure restricted and unrestricted funding, major gifts, grants, events, and corporate partnerships; combined with exceptional communication skills to engage and inspire donors, volunteers and stakeholders. You will be able to motivate and develop a high performing team, set targets, and promote a collaborative culture. You will care about social justice, environmental sustainability and food waste as these pillars underpin all UKHarvest activities. The role will be predominantly based in the UKHarvest Chichester Hub with regular visits to the Nourish Hub in London.

About the role
You will enable the Fundraising and Partnerships team to achieve their income targets by leading the Prospect Research & Insight team to plan and deliver strong, long-term pipelines, to manage them effectively, and to maximise the value of data in our fundraising.
Implementing proactive prospect identification and management strategies that enable fundraising teams to succeed, you will lead a high-performing team who drive and influence how the department uses data, harness the potential of our CRM, and develop reporting to support good business decisions.
Championing prospect development and the value of data, you will play a key role in the leadership of the Fundraising Operations team, using your skillset to problem solve and identify opportunities, potential and blind spots with the data at hand. To this, you will also oversee the processing of fundraising income, and guide accurate forecasting for the department. You will have a unique bird's eye view to analyse prospect and financial data to inform strategy and further amplify our fundraising activity.
Keen to cater to a range of lifestyles, we can offer this position on a 28-35 hour basis and are open to discussing working patterns. We operate on a hybrid basis, with 40% office time, and the remaining flexible to work from home, if you wish. The role can be based from our London, Manchester or York museums.

About you

Job summary
Malaria No More UK are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Senior Media and Communications Manager to support the Head of Communications on the leadership, planning and delivery of MNMUK’s media strategy to raise awareness, engage stakeholders and drive support for our cause. This role will support MNMUK’s campaigning and activity in the UK and internationally, working across the organisation and working closely with colleagues leading our advocacy, government relations, political campaigning and partnerships work. This role will also support MNMUK’s corporate communications work, specifically copywriting our core organisational materials, including board & annual reports.
Key responsibilities
Communications:
- Lead and deliver Malaria No More UK’s media strategy, including relationship building with media outlets, journalists and influencers to drive tactical, political and news media coverage.
- Lead on the development and management of pro or low bono partnerships with UK and global media organisations.
- Produce written media materials such as press releases, Q&As and spokesperson briefings.
- Lead and develop MNMUK’s corporate and campaign written materials such as donor reports, annual & board reports, fundraising applications and website copy, ensuring that we have a consistent and powerful style that aligns with our brand, values and creative content approach.
- Advise and support on media activity in other markets, including Kenya.
- Source and manage spokespeople for media and communications opportunities, working closely with our Head of Ambassador Relations & Creative Partnerships and our Strategic Communications and Engagement Manager.
- Support MNMUK’s Philanthropy and Partnerships team with media and communication support for our corporate partners, institutional donors, and philanthropic foundation partners, including monitoring partner media, developing joint communications, and representing the communications team at partner meetings.
- Act as a key representative of the MNMUK communications team in meetings and planning for our UK campaigning, ensuring other members of the communications team are brought in to support when needed.
- Build external relationships and networking within NGO and communications sectors.
- Keep abreast of trends and best practice in communications and horizon scanning.
- Media monitoring and reporting, including the sourcing and management of databases, platforms and other services to support our media work.
Strategy:
- Development and implementation of Malaria No More UK’s media work to support our UK and international strategies, including taking responsibility for media planning, reporting and management to allow monitoring of progress against plan.

Arts Emergency, a mentoring charity and support network aiming to address the inequalities in the creative and cultural sectors, is looking for an experienced and motivated fundraiser to provide leadership and management for fundraising activities.
Since 2013, Arts Emergency has been providing 16-25 year olds in London, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and beyond with a trained mentor working in their field of interest. Mentors help Young Talent set goals, explore their passions and make decisions about higher education, training and careers. After they complete a year of mentoring, Young Talent can continue to access opportunities, advice, resources and paid work from the Arts Emergency Network until they turn 26. UNISON is the UK’s leading public sector trade union, with more than 1.3 million members working in the public services, energy services, private, voluntary and community sectors.
The Head of Internal Audit will report into the Finance Director and will manage a well-established team of six undertaking routine branch audits on a cyclical basis as well as ad hoc special investigations when required including fraud investigations.
The organisation:
UNISON employs around 1,200 staff, approximately 370 at our national centre in Euston, central London and the remainder in our 12 regions across the UK including Northern Ireland. Its main functions include supporting the General Secretariat and the NEC via the Finance and Resource Management Committee. With an annual subscription income of around £170 million, the key objective is the effective management and safeguarding of the union’s finances, ensuring that UNISON considers the financial implications when meeting its objectives and the needs of its members. The role:
- Managing, integrating, and coordinating the activities of the Internal Audit Team and overseeing and ensuring the delivery of a planned program of audit visits to branches
- Reviewing, testing, and monitoring of branch activities to ensure compliance with internal and external financial regulations and legal requirements.
- Undertaking branch audits and fraud investigations when problems are identified at a branch, regional or national level, to minimise the risk of exposure and safeguard the Union’s assets.

The successful candidate will:
- Hold a recognised CCAB accountancy qualification with proven post-qualification experience in audit and financial accounting

- Have highly developed interpersonal and communicative skills.

About the role
This varied role provides the exciting opportunity to lead our NAFIS (National Association of Family Information Services) programme and lead on communications across our areas of work. The Projects and Communications Officer will work with local and central government officers, childcare providers and sector experts to help children and families get the best start in the crucial early years. They will create insightful and engaging content for our communication channels including blogs, website and social media posts, vodcasts and case studies, to ensure a high profile with our audience.
As a key member of a small team, the role will support the development and implementation of strategies and plans, and contribute to the longer term development of sustainable and effective programmes.

The Role

This position is part of the Alumni Engagement team within the Cambridge University Development and Alumni Relations office.
