We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Community Fundraiser with a proven track record of success to join our team and play a crucial role in advancing our work.
The Community Fundraiser is a new role and will have overall responsibility for sourcing and converting local fundraising opportunities into unrestricted income. You will develop and deliver a communication strategy that raises Home-Start Butser’s (HSB) local profile, help with volunteer engagement and convey key national and local Home-Start messages.
You will be an experienced fundraiser with a minimum of 2 years success in a similar role in a small local charity. Transferrable skills will be considered for exceptional candidates.
You will be office and community based and will develop a good knowledge of the local area, and a range of key contacts. You will recruit and manage event volunteers to assist you in your role.
You will be an excellent communicator, committed to collaborative team working with colleagues to create positive change.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Income Generation and Supporter Engagement
Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to raise unrestricted income to include local corporate partnerships and individual giving
Cultivate relationships with existing supporters and potential donors
Identify, win and support Charity of the Year partnerships
Manage HSB-led fundraising events and coordinate and support corporate and community partners with their fundraising events
2. Marketing and communications
Raise HSB local profile and increase local engagement by developing and implementing a regularly evaluated and updated communications strategy
Management of social media/digital channels and local press/TV/radio
Presentations to local groups, networking with local businesses and key influencers
Develop digital and printed material to support fundraising and communications strategies including impact reports, newsletters and promotional flyers as required
Oversight of the HSB website, posting news stories and updating pages
3. Operational
Produce and control a budget for all marketing and communications activities on an annual basis, working with the Treasurer
Develop and manage a membership/ambassadorial scheme with a fully developed database of donors
Benefits
23 days holiday entitlement (excluding bank holidays) rising by 1 day each year, up to 28 days after 5 years (pro rata).

Sudbury
This is a 12 hour Supported Housing service providing 15 supported housing flats for clients experiencing mental ill health. The service is tailored for each individual with the ultimate goal to help them manage their accommodation and assist them with reintegration back into mainstream housing within 2 years. We also offer a community support service for a fixed period of time. This is designed to help those already living in their own homes receive assistance with day-to-day task and activities.
Stowmarket
This 24 hours Supported Housing service is a mental health, supported housing and community based service, working to a recovery model. We provide a range of support services for people with mental ill health to access in their local community, including outreach support, peer support and supported housing. We have been operating in the area for a number of years and offer a staffed service to our residents aged 18 and upwards.
About you
Experience working as an Administrator is essential. You’ll need to be proactive and adaptable, with excellent communication, administration, finance and minute taking skills and experience, along with experience of completing contract management data reports and of maintaining and reviewing office systems and procedures.

As a Grants Officer, you will assess applications from individuals and families for wide-ranging support including help with daily living costs, education, medical, mobility aids and breaks for carers. You’ll employ your analytical, written and numerical skills to complete financial assessments, schedule payments, prepare reports for decision makers and update the grants system.
A natural team player, you’ll support your colleagues and prioritise the needs of the team. As you’ll make your own funding decisions as well as participating in decision making panels and taking calls from applicants and stakeholders, you’ll have confidence, strong interpersonal and customer service skills, and the ability to work within set guidelines.
You’ll receive the support of your peers, a Senior Grants Officer and your Team Leader. Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous, but what we value most are the right skills and a passion to make a difference.
MAIN DUTIES
- To process applications for assistance from individuals and families.
- To approve grants within delegated authority levels and to write reports for escalated decision making.
- To ensure the grants system records are accurate and up to date.
- To work with colleagues, stakeholders and external suppliers to provide an excellent service to applicants.
- To analyse sometimes complex financial and family situations, and interpret the scope of support that may be available to applicants.

Our team is dispersed, meaning that within England you can work from home or any of our offices across the country. This is a full-time role but we are flexible with regards to hours and days worked. Occasional travel to our offices and other locations will be required.
This is a vital year for nature policy in England. In this role, you’ll be a member of the small, friendly and impactful Policy and Advocacy Team within England working with colleagues from across the organisation and elsewhere to make this happen.

- Coordinating, supporting and delivering a programme of public-facing, advocacy themed communications campaigns, including in relation to the forthcoming General Election to drive and empower public action for nature
- Working with cross-functional teams to deliver multi-channel campaigns
- Providing campaigns insight in policy and communications discussions
- Working with colleagues and coalitions to deliver national campaigns in collaboration with other organisations.

The Role
In this role, you'll ensure supporters, volunteers and staff receive timely and effective support. You'll play a crucial part in maintaining the database and processing supporter donations, including direct debits, standing orders and bank payment files, with the utmost accuracy and adherence to GDPR policies.
Your main responsibilities will include entering new supporter information into the database, maintaining supporter records, reconciling donations and managing data imports.
You'll also process Gift Aid declarations and claims, handle direct debits, standing orders and other payments, and maintain subscription schemes. Additionally, you'll assist in handling incoming mail, processing orders and addressing complaints and feedback with empathy and professionalism.
