About the role
The Centre for Ageing Better launched the first ever campaign focusing on ageism in January 2024.
Ageism is the most widespread form of discrimination in the UK. And it will impact us all at some point, particularly as we get older. Ageism affects how society sees older people: they’re often reduced to offensive stereotypes, patronised, or treated as a burden. And it even affects how we see ourselves. As the years progress, we start to believe what we read, see and hear, and come to think that we’re ‘past it’.
The Head of Ageism Campaign plays a key role in a small team responsible for planning and delivering a nationwide public-facing campaign to bring an end to ageism in England. The public-facing campaign is one strand of a wider ‘age-friendly’ social movement aimed to make people think, feel and act differently about ageing, which will work on a number of levels and with a range of different audiences.
Under the direction of the Director of Communications & Policy and with an expert external consultant, this role is responsible for planning, delivering, measuring and iterating campaign activities that lead to measurable changes in attitudes and behaviour amongst the public.
The campaign will position Ageing Better as a thought leader and expert on ageism in England and mobilise the public and stakeholders around key activity and campaign moments, working at a national, regional and local level.
The postholder will jointly manage a creative agency to deliver phase two of our mass marketing campaign, ‘always on’ activity, and a moment of collective action once a year for warm audiences and ambassadors for the campaign.
About you
You are a passionate and committed campaigner, determined to create societal change.
You will have excellent experience in campaigning techniques and communications, with first-class writing skills. You will understand how to influence the public and move people along a behaviour/attitude change journey.
You will be comfortable working across the full marcomms mix and using different channels and platforms to reach audiences.
You will have great project management skills and will love keeping a project on track.
About us
The Centre for Ageing Better is a charitable foundation funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and part of the government’s What Works Network
Everyone has the right to a good life as they get older and our whole society benefits when people are able to age well. But far too many people face huge barriers, and as a result are living in bad housing, dealing with poverty and poor health and made to feel invisible in their communities and society.
The Centre for Ageing Better is pioneering ways to make ageing better a reality for everyone. Its key areas of work include challenging ageism and building a nationwide Age-friendly Movement, creating Age-friendly Employment and Age-friendly Homes.
We are striving to create an organisation that reflects our society and the communities we serve. A workplace where everyone feels empowered and where diversity of background and thought is celebrated. We know there is more work to be done and are committed to continuing to improve our practice around Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
We very much welcome applications from minority groups and those underrepresented in our workforce. This especially includes people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, LGBT+ people, and Disabled people.
We are a Positive Action employer, therefore in recruitment where two candidates are ‘as qualified as’ each other, we will favour a candidate from any group identified as currently underrepresented in our team based on protected characteristics as outlined in the Equality Act 2010.
The closing date for this role is 11:59pm on 3rd May, with in- person interviews to take place during week commencing 13th May
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

- ImpactEd Evaluation works with schools and organisations to analyse the impact of programmes and interventions to help partners do more of what works and less of what doesn’t.
- ImpactEd Consulting offers strategic and operational support for its partners, to address challenges and underpin carefully managed growth.
- The Engagement Platform (TEP) measures school and teacher engagement to support sustainable working cultures.

Our work focuses on helping these organisations to design and deliver evaluations, and to build their capacity for impact evaluation.
We are looking for a candidate who can support the team internally with a variety of delivery and administrative processes, working directly with our schools and partners to support their evaluation journey. This will include supporting new schools through their onboarding and data collection processes and monitoring their usage of our digital platform, the School Impact Platform. You will also be responsible for liaising with schools to schedule focus groups with teachers and pupils and organise these events accordingly, and supporting colleagues with facilitating data collection and analysis, which will include reporting processes and creating surveys which form part of our evaluation work with schools.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to apply for our new professional development pathway, launching this summer. On this two-year scheme, a small cohort will rotate between our practices, gaining wider experience within strategy, evaluation and operational development within the education and social enterprise space.

-

About the role
The main purpose of the role is to coordinate the Methodist Church’s response to the arrival of Hong Kong nationals in Great Britain.
This will involve liaising with the Methodist Church in Hong Kong and with circuits and local churches in Britain to ensure pastoral support for Hong Kong Methodists as they make the transition to this country. You will help to motivate local circuits and churches to welcome and integrate the new arrivals into congregations, and you will provide support and training to facilitate this. You will also develop connections with Cantonese-speaking groups and congregations already in existence, and may be involved in facilitating the formation of new ones. Establishing connections and fostering supportive relationships to enable an effective network that brings together Methodists from Hong Kong and British churches, is key to your role.
About you
Bilingual in written and spoken Cantonese and English and a confident communicator in both languages. You enjoy bringing people together and helping form new groups and congregations. As this role will entail working with circuits and local churches, you will need strong project management and administrative skills. You need to be both self-motivating and a strong team player. Your work will help the Church to communicate and live out Our Calling.
Our Culture, Values and Benefits
Thank you for considering joining our inclusive and welcoming team that strives for excellence and values employee wellbeing.
We value and support all those who join our team through a positive work-life balance augmented by generous annual leave (plus an extra 3 days over Christmas/New Year), TOIL, flexi-leave and an on-site Wellbeing Adviser service. We offer a generous occupational pension scheme, where the Methodist Church will pay double the employee contribution up to a maximum of 16% employer contribution.
The Methodist Church is an inclusive and supportive employer. We are actively committed to encouraging applications from people of all backgrounds. We welcome applications from people of Black, Asian and other Minority Ethnic groups. We also welcome applications from people living with disabilities.
Closing Date: 8 May 2024
Interviews: 17 May 2024 in London
We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.
The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission.
The Role
This role will ensure the organisation is following robust financial systems and processes; carry out all day-to-day accounting tasks; and ensure timely production of financial information to inform management decisions. Once the initial training is complete you will be able to arrange your own hours, to be worked Monday to Friday.
This role is for a fixed period of 12 months, to cover maternity leave.
About You
A proven track record of relevant financial administration experience is essential and competence in the use of Xero accounting software, Excel and other MS packages such as word and Outlook is essential. You will have an organised approach to workload and ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines, be flexible and adapt to the requirements of the role.
