Our Direct Marketing Team is part of this department, and recruits and develops supporters. We are seeking a Direct Marketing Officer to join this team to manage and deliver a series of high standard direct marketing campaigns across our Regular Giving programme. This individual will be recruiting, retaining and upgrading regular donors to generate income through a variety of direct marketing methods such as direct dialogue, DRTV, digital, and direct mail. They will be encouraging regular monthly gifts or support via one of our main products such as general Regular Giving and Sponsorship, our Lottery, Value Exchange programme and other methods of committed giving as they arise.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Campaign Management

· Plan, manage and deliver successful campaigns across a range of channels including face-to-face, digital and print.

· Successful management of fundraising agencies and suppliers; ensuring relationships are effective and productive.

· Deliver motivational fundraiser training and develop engaging fundraiser materials with agency stakeholders to ensure high-quality fundraising.

· Ensure compliance and adherence to regulation and codes of practice is considered in all campaign activities, to include mystery shopping and call listening.

· Work closely with Data and Digital teams to ensure effective processes are worked to and full campaign evaluation is possible.

· Donation page monitoring, reporting and development, to include looking at ways in which to improve the donor’s online user journey.

· Continuous improvement through test and learn principles across all activities.

· Integration of campaigns across the charity to drive maximum value.

· Development of compelling communications and materials to support all activities.

Planning and Budgeting

· KPI tracking, trend analysis and interrogation of results at all levels.

· Live programme optimisation to ensure targets are met.

· Input to annual planning and development of individual giving campaigns.

· Assist Direct Marketing Manager with compilation of detailed income and expenditure campaign budgets.

· Work with Direct Marketing Manager in developing the Acquisition programme and strategy.

· Input to monthly forecasting and regular reporting across a range of financial and non-financial KPI’s.

Finance and Reporting

· Ensure daily campaign tracking and reporting.

· Routine end of campaign reviews and analysis.

· Ongoing reporting on long-term success measures such as attrition and ROI.

· Invoice reconciliation and processing for timely payment.

· Non-financial KPI trend reporting - such as opt-in rates and quality scoring.

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

About this role

The Digital Acquisition Officer is a key member of the Mass Engagement team and part of the wider Development team. The Mass Engagement team exists to raise awareness of Reprieve’s work, shift public opinion and to inspire support. Your role will be to engage members of the public, grow the Reprieve’s community and help establish our supporter base.

It is an exciting time for our team, as we launch their first mass engagement strategy to promote the long-term growth of the programme. Digital fundraising boomed between 2020 and 2021 but has faced challenges in 2022 and 2023. As we launch our new strategy, we are looking for a creative and enthusiastic individual, keen to try new things and learn through testing, excited about communicating Reprieve’s work to our supporters and inspiring them to donate.

You will be key to the acquisition of new supporters, leading on developing and managing lead generation across our platforms, building paid for and organic content, and developing new and innovative ways to engage supporters with the support of the Head of Digital and Mass Engagement.

As a small team we have a collaborative and “all hands on deck” approach, ready to step in and support each other. This means at times you will support on our retention and stewardship work, as well as helping the wider Development Team when needed.

You will share our commitment to fighting racism and advancing racial justice, as well as help craft comms that can take supporters with us on this work whilst ensuring we do this in a way that does not compound racist structures.

Main purpose of the role

Job Title: Head of Member Acquisition and Engagement
Reports To: Associate Director: Partnerships
Salary: £40,000- £44,000 FTE (pro-rata based on hours) depending on experience
Contract: Part-time, permanent. We are open to discussing flexible working options.
Hours: 21 hours per week (0.6 FTE).

This role will support us to deliver an excellent service to our members and those engaged with our CPD pathways, publications and research activity.

Requirements

We are looking to recruit a Head of Member Acquisition and Engagement on a part-time contract. This is an exciting new role that will play a key part in our continued growth and will make a real impact on the teaching profession; we are looking for someone who believes in our mission and the work we do.

Working closely with the Deputy Chief Executive, Associate Director: Partnerships and the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Head of Member Acquisition and Engagement will take a lead on activity related to attracting and retaining our individual teacher members, including developing, rolling out and evaluating recruitment and retention programmes, initiatives and campaigns for current and prospective members. The successful candidate will be confident using data to inform decision-making and monitor progress towards membership growth targets and have the ability to work well independently and within a team.

Main area of work

The majority of your time will be spent developing, implementing and evaluating strategies to secure individual membership growth, including through retaining current members and attracting new members.

You’ll be an expert on our products and services, and you’ll use our CRM system and other data sources to understand membership trends, challenges and opportunities.

You will ensure the Chartered College of Teaching is responsive to the needs of the sector, making sure that we understand our members and ensuring that every member gets maximum value from engagement with our products and services.

Additional areas of work

• Working closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager, planning recruitment campaigns and strategising content and resources for membership initiatives
• With the Associate Director: Partnerships, ensuring join-up between group membership sales and individual member sales
• Promoting and representing the Chartered College to potential members at events
• Working with the Membership Manager to ensure a seamless experience for members from their first interaction with us
• Recording, presenting, formatting and analysing data in a variety of ways to report to colleagues and stakeholders, including against KPIs.
• Performing other activities as and when required to support the wider team to achieve the charity’s goals.

Alongside your main areas of work, you will also participate in meetings and be encouraged to participate in CPD learning activities and training to maintain and develop your knowledge and skills.

You don’t need to have expertise in absolutely all areas, but we’re looking for someone who is motivated by our vision and truly passionate about membership growth and supporting teachers. Systems you would be using include Salesforce, DotDigital, Google Workspace, Zoom, Submittable and Slack.

Experience and skills:

• Experience in a sales or business development role (essential), with experience of membership or subscription sales highly desirable
• Experience working in the education sector (highly desirable)
• Experience of developing, delivering and evaluating sales initiatives and campaigns (essential)
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills (essential)
• Experience of Salesforce or other CRM systems (essential)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills (desirable)

The Role

Deliver annual portfolio of acquisition campaigns, all the way from proposal and concept stage to evaluation, across a range of media. Budget managing campaigns ranging from £40-100k budgets.

Breathe innovation throughout your campiagns and proactively support the curlture of learning and development.

Monitor data requirements for acquisition campaigns ensuring that logistically campaigns run smoothly and are analysed continually to improve ROI and LTV.

The Candidate
1 years+ experience in one of the channels DRTV, Press, Inserts or outdoor.

Proven experience of DM campaign management ideally including developing new creative approaches, and sourcing, managing,negotiating and liaising with suppliers.

Experience of writing fundraising/direct marketing copy.

Experience of managing large expenditure budgets.
