Delivering the best environment for outstanding research.
We are the independent, expert voice of biomedical and health research in the UK. We have a Fellowship of the most influential scientists in the UK and worldwide. The Academy’s new strategy sets out its vision of good health for all supported by the best research and evidence.
The Academy’s Science Base and Careers Policy team focuses on our strategic objective to achieve a more sustainable environment for delivering outstanding research. To achieve this aim, we are seeking to harness the political consensus that the UK’s future health and wealth will be underpinned by a strong research base. We take a holistic approach by considering how research policy, investment and talent combine to create a sustainable health research system. To achieve this, we work with leading researchers across the academia, NHS and industry, as well as emerging research leaders, patients and the public to ensure our work is informed by the best evidence.
We are looking for someone with the skills and experience to both develop and deliver high impact and influential policy work, including reports, position statements and events. We will need you to build close links and partnerships with key stakeholders across the life sciences sector, as well as in Government(s) and in Parliament(s) to ensure the Academy is influencing at the highest levels. You will have an understanding of the UK research sector and/or the policy development process. You will communicate with confidence and clarity and be able to synthesise complex information and write for different audiences.
Excellent benefits include: generous leave allowance, Academy pension scheme, and travel assistance amongst others. The Academy is based in offices near Oxford Circus. The Academy has an agile working policy and staff are encouraged to work in the office at least once a week. We want to ensure diversity of thought and experience in all we do and for our staff to be able to bring their authentic self to work every day.
