You will play a key role in the Academy’s close-knit policy team, spending most of your time supporting its influential major policy projects, including on the sustainability of health research in the UK. This will require working closely with a range of Academy Fellows, other experts and stakeholders to identify, analyse and drive progress on key science policy topics. You will also work on other policy projects that support the delivery of our strategic challenge to ‘harness our expertise and convening power to tackle the biggest scientific and health challenges and opportunities facing our society’. This will include activities to inform and influence the funding and organisation of the UK’s science base.
A team player, ideally with experience of developing and delivering programmes of activities and with knowledge of the UK policy environment, you have strong time management skills and an appetite to work with partners across research disciplines, sectors and communities to influence key science policy decisions. First-rate communication skills and attention to detail are essential as the role will also involve preparing and disseminating briefings, consultation responses and policy reports. You will be expected to foster excellent relationships with Fellows, external partners and key stakeholders, as well as with staff across the Academy.
