Job description

Do you want to help inspire and support biomedical and health researchers to fulfil their potential?

Developing talented researchers through funding and careers support is one of the Academy’s strategic challenges and at the heart of our vision to improve UK and global health through research. We are looking for a Programme Officer to join our programmes team to take forward our work in this area. You will be responsible for the administration, development and delivery of one or more of the Academy’s innovative career development programmes. This will involve working alongside the Programmes and wider careers team with support from our Fellowship of world class researchers; interacting directly with researchers and facilitators.

Our career development portfolio includes the Academy’s flagship mentoring programme, the INSPIRE Programme to encourage medical, dental and veterinary students to consider a career in research, the SUSTAIN programme supporting women on their path to becoming research leaders, FLIER a pioneering cross-sector leadership programme, and a diverse programme of career development events, workshops and conferences.

You will be educated to first degree level and have experience of dealing with external organisations or individuals, some experience of events management, and be confident in working with people across all levels. Excellent communication and team working skills are key attributes we are looking for, in addition to a desire to support the careers of the next generation of researchers

The Academy’s benefits include: generous leave allowance, free staff lunches, Academy pension scheme, and travel assistance amongst others. The Academy is located in offices near Oxford circus.
