The Philanthropy and Partnerships team play an integral role in generating funding for ActionAid to deliver its work overseas. The team is a successful and ambitious team within ActionAid that has doubled income in the last 5 years and aims to drive further substantial growth in the coming strategy. It has responsibility for developing new and existing long-term collaborative partnerships from a range of high value streams: individual philanthropists, trusts, foundations, and corporates.
Due to a recent promotion in the team, ActionAid UK is now looking to recruit for an Interim Head of Philanthropy that leads the income stream responsible for generating support from individual philanthropists. The role is to provide strategic leadership of the philanthropy programme, leading and inspiring staff and supporting senior stakeholders to engage with philanthropy as a growth area and supporting them to cultivate relationships with potential and existing major donors as and when required. The role will be to review and develop the current philanthropy strategy, building on existing success and putting in place measures to enable the philanthropy team to reach ambitious growth targets set out in the resource mobilisation strategy and future forecasting plans.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships and leading a successful team of philanthropy fundraisers, you will develop and oversee the implementation of creative strategies to meet and exceed income targets. This will involve overseeing individual donor strategies, ensuring the very best donor cultivation and stewardship practices, and working with colleagues to ensure delivery of an engaging programme of bespoke events. As Interim Head of Philanthropy, we will look to you to develop dynamic and exciting strategies to achieve our objective of maximising funding from individual wealthy supporters. You will challenge and motivate your team to successfully cultivate donors and prospects, you will also look to them to regularly report on activities, progress, and potential risk. You will be an engaging and inspiring leader and a team player who thrives on growing income across several streams as well as your own.
You will support your peers in the development of all related streams of income as part of the Heads Management Group. To succeed in this role, it is essential that you have experience of motivating and developing teams and you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of current fundraising trends and possess good monitoring, reporting, and forecasting skills. In addition, you will be an effective communicator with good interpersonal and networking abilities.
